You two are so inspiring. I have traveled my entire life, including the huge gift of spending my teenage years in New Zealand. I am now 60 (now living in Uzbekistan) and thinking of retiring in Panama so came across your videos. I so wish I had had the imagination and the guts when I was your age to conceive of the life you are creating for yourselves. There was no internet then, but I am still wishing I could figure out how to break free of employment and embark on an adventure like yours for the rest of my life. Keep it up; I love your Lola and Roger and the way they follow you everywhere. Take care and stay strong and happy and creative.
remember all this is temporary . so do it when your young . A day will will come when you need comfort to be out of pain and to be near Doctors and good health care , at 66 that is where I am at now but am lucky I got to travel and live all over the world compliments of uncle Sam ... Enjoy !
I’ve been watching you guys for about a year and a half now. I’m so glad you moved on from bus life and doing this. You all seem so much happier, and in turn it makes my days so much better. Never thought in my life that I would look forward to an amateur RUclips show every week instead of a massive tv production. Thanks! And I hope to meet you all one day.
High wind events have often taken out plastic covered greenhouses: from poly tunnels to geodesics. Best construction advice is to implement your anchoring system during the initial build. You folks got lucky. Many people wake up to a shredded greenhouse that has rolled a 100ft over night and smashed into some trees. Another surprise construction phenomenon: sheet metal, plywood, siding, and all sorts of sheet goods act like wings when hit by high winds. Even weighed down with bricks, cinder blocks, and other handy objects, the lifting force of gusting high winds can be truly astounding. People have gotten killed by sheet goods wind blown off of the roofs of construction sites and winged down onto the streets below. The takeaway is: tie down sheet goods like you're securing a small airplane.
It seriously brings tears to my eyes to see this "family" that you guys have created. It's clear that you guys have made amazing connections with the people up there and its just such a beautiful thing to watch. You guys aren't just "off-grid" goals...you guys are "family" goals. Sending so much love from a Maryland girl living in Italy.
I think what your doing is beautiful, from the building to bringing people of all cultures and races together. This so beautiful. You are an example to the world.Stay safe and healthy Peace!!!!!
Wow !!!! Our Ngabé speaking english !!! Didn't expect that 😂😂😂. My family has been close to the Emberá tribes for many years. My parents were hunters when young and got lost during a storm in the jungle. They were found by an Emberá hunting party and sheltered them in their village for a few days. They even met the famous Tomé Sarco, who gave jungle training to the Apollo astronauts. I've been told there's a wax statue of Tomé in a museum in the USA. Nice people !! Un abrazo amigos !
The Native American people in Central and South America -- I'm singling these out only because those are the ones I know about -- are wonderful. When my brother visited them in the jungles of South America he wanted to stay. The experience really brought home to him exactly how unnatural and psychically unhealthy our lives are here on the outside. My son visited a NA settlement in Panama and it had the same effect on him. They are truly beautiful people.
This happens when you don’t use the construction methods that the locals use. There is a reason why people of the area have been constructing the way they do for over a century. Just saying.
@@goodcitizen5344 Old news - the new normal means they get their asses spanked by nature all the time - that's what's happening now. Even they now know it's over for them.
So sorry that you had some wind damage. At least you’ve got a great crew to help you get things back to normal. Getting your greenhouse anchored down will definitely help! I was afraid that your table was going to be too heavy to get moved! Glad that all worked out.
I’m so sorry about the wind damage but so thankful that y’all are just fine. And that the repairs were fairly easy. And your singing encouraged me to be more resilient like you. Many blessings from California to y’all. 💕😍
I think it is so much fun that you have friends to help you out....and, you are helping them out too... I was a little emotional during the unveiling of the coffee roaster. It feels so good to see everyone excited about something...a goal...a future. I really needed that today...thank you.
Maybe a wind turbine would be a great investment for your property!!! Happy y'all are safe. Also happy your bus was secure. Looking forward for what's to come. I enjoy your videos and look forward to the next one!! When will Rodrigo start on his tiny house? Does he have any idea what he wants to build for his place? I assume y'all will be helping him build when you can. I'm looking forward to his build as well!! I'm happy all of you are safe!!! Please be extra careful!! Looking forward to the next video!!!!
They have a big wind turbine that they haven't installed. As a former owner, I would advise them to mount it as far away from their home as possible because they are very noisy.
What a great bunch of friends you have down there. All of them are just wonderful people. All of you are a model for the world to follow. And I think you are correct that you got lucky. The whole greenhouse could have been miles away and torn to shreds. This was only a warning shot fired across your bow - a wake up call, so to speak. Someone upstairs is looking out for you .
Your friends also make it so much fun to watch y'all work!!! Loved the singing in the car. Very cool to watch as you work very hard but have fun doing anything you're doing. Great job!
FLASHBACKS! We get worse wind here. We had two costco style car tents that we 'anchored' to 2×6's. Every winter it was a new nightmare; ripping canvases, flipping both tents into trees, etc. We used 16 pillar block footings to weigh the 2×6s. When the wind flipped the car tents on top of our car and totaled it, we took the tents down permanently. You're lucky that your wind 'damage' was minor. Anchor your structures now and roast your coffee later. Be safe.
This video reminded me of my comment on your 1st Day of building a Dome House. That was my fear when you first build it and I said,"The structure's foundation needs to be strong, if not when the strong winds comes it will be a disaster". But, without failure there is no success or learning things, you guys are so inspirational and we have a lot of things to learn from you. Stay safe and God bless you in everything you do.
You guys are amazing in so many wonderful ways! Despite the setbacks, your optimism, happiness and determination doesn't waver. Instead you work through it, make the best of it all the while remembering to have a little fun. That greenhouse looked like a big BALL that the wind would LOVE to play with! And you didn’t anchor it down! It must be so hard to finish anything when you have so many projects on the go.
I was wondering just WHEN mother nature was going to take a bit outa yeah ! Youall been way lucky so far, but you need to always be ready for the worst as many times that's what we all face . P.S. next time you use rebar as anchors, put a 6 or 8 inch 90 degree kick out on the end under the concrete on the rebar ends
Love your videos and I love that you fully admit that you are learning as you go. Never mind the negative comments here with all the “shoulda’s” 🤔. Keep up the great work.
When you make toast like that say you are making"skillet toast". That's what we called it when growing up on the ranch. :-) I love all the progress you guys have made and Roger is getting so big! Love seeing your fur babies playing with each other!
You could plant some resistant trees in your field to lessen the strength of the wind. When there is less wind, the soil will be warmer which will be better for the microorganisms living in the soil and for the growth of plants. If you plan to plant plants like sunflowers or other tall plants in your field you will probably need to get some wind protection. Love the video, it's really refreshing to see that other people are doing the same thing I want to do in the future.
You might get a sense of why people in tropics tend toward concrete for their homes or permanent structures. The weather can be unpredictable and unforgiving. You're doin' amazin' guys! Bliss and blessings! ❤
The power of the wind, especially if getting inside a dome. It's like a air ballon, the lift is awesome when air cant escape from the plastic seal.. Get a door to that greenhouse to keep air outside. The shape of the greenhouse is perfect to withstand wind, but it has to be tight from the outside. Great recovery, and you guys have great stamina!
You see rain clouds you can expect wind with them. Screw in dog anchors work quite well in holding down a structure like your green house. It would take several, but you can install them quickly.
I enjoy watching your videos admire your perseverance you're the now days conqueror and explorers as long you respect the locals and their laws you're always be safe and happy among the LATINOS.
It's so nice to see how you can make a bad situation into a fun situation!😊 It's awesome to see how happy other people being there just makes it seem so much better. I really love you guys and all your accomplishing 👍🤗
Hate to see 👀 that yall woke up to tin in the trees and the greenhouse moved. The coffee house and the shop are looking great! can't wait to see what is next.
Looks like you can have 4 seasons in a day ( song by crowded house ). Love how you teach everybody everything so they can support them self as well. You helping the community is to me the nomadic movement. Keep on doing this as we need more people like you guy’s if we want to improve the world behavior and appreciate the nature and the people as they a re beautiful. Look forward to the next video
I have so many times asked has the greenhouse been fastened down? Don't half finish a job. So this is why the windows up in the loft are so important. You open the big garage door with no way for that wind to blow through that wind will remove your wall or roof panels. Green house tie down. Use rebar and drive it into the ground at an angle beside or through the bottom wood and fasten it. Put the door on the green house it's a big parachute with out it. Coffee table food safe there should of been a stainless steel top. The paint can flake and enter the product.
All your friends have wonderful personalities. Who is tossing the tools on the roof? MY guess -Kaki. With all the wind there, would it make sense to build a round house?
I think you were probably pretty lucky that the wind damage wasn't worse! Just take the negative comments in stride. It's very easy to criticize people. I love what you're doing & know you are learning as you go! I didn't expect to see the relationship between Jordan & Roger. Carry on with what you're doing & i'll be there for continued watching. Thank you! Sincerely, human Roger. lol

You did a good job securing the green house to the ground. Hey, can you imagine... Here you thinking the green house is nicely secured and one day after a wind storm you find it on top of a tree, the wind was so strong that it ripped it off its base.
Loved seeing Kaylee teaching "double double this this, double double that that" going on in the background at the coffee shop. Reminds me of my childhood and my sister wanting to do that with me all the time. Great video! Keep up the awesome work.

You seem to have good luck on your side! Love, love, love you all!
I feel for you both...so much. I have never seen two people have such a good run of bad luck. God be with you both !!!
If you have time, plants a wind barrier.

What a beautiful little community you're building!
The plastic house for your plants is a great shape for a windy place, it’s been like that here is NZ too, wild wet and windy.Cheers
I'm thankful that the greenhouse was just moved and not destroyed! That was a blessing! Also, I'm glad you had a quick solution, before it happens again! Rodrigo, "Jesus!" Jordon, "Jesus is right, dude!" 😊😉 Kake, saying he'd like to be in a warm pizza blanket! You guys crack me up! 😂Having friends around does make some things fun, esp. when you like what you're doing! And, you two can make the most out of anything! Ex: toast and jam for dinner becomes sauteed toast and local homemade strawberry jam. "Is that pumpernickel bread?" That was said in true spirit, as if it were that it'd now be like a meal for a king's delight! Cute, cute, cute! 🤗 Take care and God bless you!
Oh my god! I love your whole crew! You guys are having so much fun!
Don't need additional anchors. Those 5 will hold. The frame will rip apart before it pulls out. Good job anchoring!
Played this today in 8K and Lord have I missed so much
Loving the progress and happy you're safe.
The part with the plug was perfect.
Sorry to hear what happened to you guys. But on the up side, you guys seem to have amazing friends to help fix the problem. As well as your spirits seem very high. It's always good to make jokes and smile when nasty stuff happens.
