A recording from a talk of Paramahansa Yogananda on the Purpose of Life.
Paramahansa Yogananda (born Mukunda Lal Ghosh; January 5, 1893 - March 7, 1952) was an Indian monk, yogi, and guru who introduced millions to the teachings of meditation and Kriya Yoga through his organization Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) / Yogoda Satsanga Society (YSS) of India, and who lived his last 32 years in America. A chief disciple of the Bengali yoga guru Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri, he was sent by his lineage to spread the teachings of yoga to the West, to prove the unity between Eastern and Western religions and to preach a balance between Western material growth and Indian spirituality. His long-standing influence in the American yoga movement, and especially the yoga culture of Los Angeles, led him to be considered by yoga experts as the "Father of Yoga in the West."
Yogananda was the first major Indian teacher to settle in America, and the first prominent Indian to be hosted in the White House (by President Calvin Coolidge in 1927);[5] his early acclaim led to him being dubbed "the 20th century's first superstar guru," by the Los Angeles Times.[6] Arriving in Boston in 1920, he embarked on a successful transcontinental speaking tour before settling in Los Angeles in 1925. For the next two and a half decades, he gained local fame as well as expanded his influence worldwide: he created a monastic order and trained disciples, went on teaching-tours, bought properties for his organization in various California locales, and initiated thousands into Kriya Yoga. By 1952, SRF had over 100 centers in both India and the US; today, they have groups in nearly every major American city. His "plain living and high thinking" principles attracted people from all backgrounds among his followers.
He published his book Autobiography of a Yogi in 1946 to critical and commercial acclaim; since its first publishing, it has sold over four million copies, with HarperSan Francisco listing it as one of the "100 best spiritual books of the 20th Century". Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs had ordered 500 copies of the book for his own memorial, for each guest to be given a copy. The book has been regularly reprinted and is known as "the book that changed the lives of millions." A 2014 documentary, Awake: The Life of Yogananda, won multiple awards at film festivals around the world. His continued legacy around the world, remaining a leading figure in Western spirituality to the current day, led authors such as Philip Goldberg to consider him "the best known and most beloved of all Indian spiritual teachers who have come to the West....through the strength of his character and his skillful transmission of perennial wisdom, he showed the way for millions to transcend barriers to the liberation of the soul." Sometimes it's necessary to be the villain, before you are able to realize that this is not what you want to be. The path is defined, but it is cluttered with huge obstacles, many of which we struggle to overcome every day. It takes faith to continue. But the results are quite rewarding for those who persevere.

Always good to hear my Guru speak.Thanks. I once found a cassette at the Berkeley flea market in 1995 it was labeled Yogananda's last talk but now after hearing his talks on RUclips i realize it was different talks but on one recording.

Before I found Paramahansa Yogananda, I had already felt like death, was just us practicing dying for our entire lives. These Guru's incarnated here to help guide us. It's nice to hear his voice. I bet he was radiant, loving and wise in person. One of my favorite quotes from him "Learn to be secretly happy within despite all circumstances". "Change yourself, and you've done your part in changing the world". Words of ancient wisdom.

"Watson troubles" was what appeared on the written text as Yogananda was speaking. He actually said "wars and troubles!!" Lol. ❤️❤️❤️ And there were many other funny textual incongruities with the audio. That's ok!! All is good and hilarious as far as this goes. The point though, is the message spoken by Yogananda.
From almost yelling to almost whispering back and forth was a bit hard to listen at first, but after a while I almost got used to 😅

Amazing story about Paramahansa Yogananda. Im a christian and i generaly like all those stories about SAINTS. If i understood well, hindu saints doesnt have any great FEAR form hell or something like that(or from a being reincarnated again)? A christian saints were constantely unsure if they are good enough, if they will succeed.
Because one is based on believing and one based on truly knowing it
@@pandawaterpark53 Can be like that, but there were also manu GREAT christian saints making almost the same miracles as a hindu saints, that means that they really were in touch with a Devine, they KNEW something(not faith), and even beside that they didnt promoting a reincarnation idea.
My crazy mind came to some idea that MAYBE for christians a reincararnation means HELL :)Coming to earth again is actually a hell. Christian IDEA is more like..."lets not waisting time here(suffering) on planet anymore, lets go directly to heaven".
@@bertonedes we know Christian or Hindu miracles based on other people story, some people choose to believe it or disbelieve it. What is taught by Yoga is you should not believe anything that is not in your experience.
it is also best to not believing heaven, hell nor reincarnation before you know it by your own experience and as numerous living human said its possible for any human.

They are automatic captions created by the computer, they are not translations since Yogananda is speaking in English. If the viewer speaks English the captions should not matter.

That concept of the eastern philosophy of God is in the bible. The western frame of reference for Him you alighted is a corruption designed to separate us from His (our) love, His (our) grace, His (our) will, and His (our) mercy, ultimately, our salvation and the eternal, uniting celebration of life. We will correct this once we can all know Him (us) as one. Not a collection of bodies, groups, identities, tribes, but one body (Him) through which the one (Christ) is born to rule and reign forever, the soul of humanity, the captain of the ship, son of (all) man, Elohim.

You don’t even know all of the western beliefs, because very few western occult beliefs nor practices claim God as separate from us. The actual difference is in the methods to this realization, and the nature of “god”. Really, just different names for the same thing.
