    I was JUST talking to my husband (who works in Flight Ops at his airline) and we agreed: pilots and flight attendants need to be paid, in full, from the moment you check in at the gate to the moment you disembark (and would check out) then get your per diem for the rest. We were also discussing the new laws for mandatory breaks in California and how his airline is having to deal with that for CA based pilots and flight attendants. That's all kinds of complicated. Flight attendants ROCK and YOU are fantastic!! My son is studying to become a pilot (he solos for the first time tomorrow - exciting!!) and he has learned, through his years of being a passenger and having a dad at Flight Ops, just how incredibly important Flight Attendants are to the operation of the airline. WE APPRECIATE YOU ALL!! 😊 Love from a OneWorld family in Seattle.

      Awww thank you!! Personally, I agree with you both. I think pilots and flight attendants should be paid full salary from sign in to debrief. Hopefully we can see some positive changes in the future!! Sending you both love from Texas!

      It would be nice if that were the rule. My husband has been dealing with the current practice for 40 years. Our son has started flying for the same airline. My husband has a year left so it’s a mute point for him, but our son has over 30 years so it would be nice for his pay to reflect report time and not current practice.

    • @melw3518
      @melw3518 Год назад +2

      Totally agree! Unfortunately it's a worldwide thing where all FA's and pilots don't get paid from sign on to sign off. I'm from Australia and it's very similar to the USA however we do get provided food on our flights by catering so we don't need to carry our own. Not the best and gets boring after a while but better than nothing. Many international airlines also have a minimum height requirement of 163cm tall.

    Kat this blog was so very informative and will help so many! I have to say I too agree Flight Attendants should be paid from check in to debrief. You are the people responsible for our safety and ensure comfort of your passengers. Flights would not be possible without you all and you should be paid as such! Hopefully this will happen in the near future! Thank you so much for being you! You make everyday brighter!

      @@KatNesbitt Kat, when I applied to a mainline airline (AND got it, first try), there was a beautiful young woman applying, who actually was dressed like an elegant Russian princess. She was just classy and lovely; however, not dressed as one would think one should be for the position. She got it, first try, too! I guess it just boils down to what they want to see, what grabs their attention. Let me be clear, her entire outfit was absolutely not cheesy looking, just elegant. I will only add, she took a big chance, and it paid off. But, that's why I'm not necessarily recommending it. Personally, my outfit was office professional, my make-up was natural, and my hair was a bob. Everyone must remember, they are being tested and watched ALL of the time, from the first phone call from the airline, and on the flight to the interview, and on the way back home again.

    Hi. So of course things can change and the trip you think you’re going to happen is changing. As long as you are getting minimum rest, can the airline shorten your layover? So say for example you were supposed to be in London for a layover and coming back on the 5PM flight but someone is sick on the 1PM so they move you from the 5PM to the 1PM. And is there a minimum warning time? I get so nervous when I see a vlog of flight crew driving like an hour away from the hotel for a trip.

      Yeah I would probably think there are a lot of similarities in training because we could face a lot of similar situations up in the air❤️

    Becoming flight attendant as a job to me that’s one of those jobs where if you can’t really get what you really want to do as a career you’ll go for that 100% the only problem is for some reason it’s so hard and difficult to get into this kind of job, I don’t mean to like this dude “it’s some easy job” but most flight attendants don’t really seem like they do much other than serve people and do the safety procedures but the preparation is the hardest part about the job. You also have to be this type of person where you are quite posh and dress coded and your like a fit person

      Hi I am also 13 and I want to be a flight attendant. I don't know if I would like it. I think that it does not matter if you are dumb you just need to be nice and open-minded. But you do need to be little smart to learn All that safety things but I believe you can do it. I wish you luck.🎉😊

    I’m not quite sure if you covered this or not but is there a age requirement for airlines? I’m 18 years old and have about two years of customer service experience.

    If I could relive my life, I’d love to become a flight attendant. But as a 50 year old, I feel that I’m too old to make that switch. So instead, I live vicariously thru your videos (along with Julia, Ale, Kacey and Stella before she abandoned us! lol).

      I just became a flight attendant in Canada at 52 years old.
      I got laid off from my job in September 2021 after 26 years so it’s not too late at your age. Things are different now being as FA. I also don’t have that “flight attendant look” if you know what I mean. If you pass the training and can do your job that’s all they care about now and also they can’t discriminate you against your age at least that’s for the airline that I work for. You also have NOTHING to lose. It doesn’t cost you anything to apply so just try it. That’s what I did and I’ve been with my airline for almost a year now 😊

      And that is not a good attitude, Aunt Rowdy. I applied at 50, got it, first try. 50 is not old, unless you make it so. The entire process is about you, your attitude and experience. If you keep thinking that way, the interview process would not go well for you, because they would pick up on that.

      You're not too old. I became a flight attendant at age 45, just 6 months ago and had lots of classmates that were on their 50's and 60's and I am happy to say they graduated 🎓
