How to play 'Cemetery Gates' by Pantera Guitar Solo Lesson

- I've been able to play this solo badly for years... I decided a few days ago that I'd make a proper lesson for it for you guys and myself to enjoy as I will inevitably forget how to play it in a month or so. Some dumb dimebagish stretches, but if broken down properly, this solo is pretty manageable!
Take care guys! Happy shredding!

why would anyone give a thumbs down for this when the guy is giving his time and expertise out there to us for free? dont get it sometimes..cheers Chris awesome videos and cheers
Idiots do idiotic things. That's why.
The lessons of Chris are immaculate, consummate. I've learned so much from him - and still do.
@@volkerwestphal3746 I seriously don’t think Chris has missed a note or good tone from these lmao
Thanks Chris...coolest guitar teacher on youtube
best Saturday night i've spent in years. Rolled up a hog-leg and went to work. my bro is gonna shit when I rip this solo out on him next weekend. Im forever greatful Chris!! Dimebag is top 2 favorite guitarists ever!!
Never thought I'd be able to play this, stumbled accross your video and have learnt the first 2 parts in 5 minutes, thanks!
can you do the entire solo perfectly now?
The guy can teach!
Unfortunately the first 2 parts are the east parts. After the second bend is when it’s gets crazy.
I watched this before I went to jail for a week. I practiced in my head the whole time. When I got out I tried to play it but still couldn't.
Jonathan Barajas physical practice is essential for developing muscular memory
Ok thanks
+Jonathan Barajas Hahaha, felipearenas97's response is so metal. You talk about being in jail for a week and dude stays focused on how to improve your practice. Rock on.
Hahaha I know
should have snuck in a guitar
This is by far the most accurate video I've seen for this solo. You finally helped me put together the pieces I couldn't quite figure out. Thank you!
man i tried to use this vid like a year ago but just couldnt keep up now i just learned this in 20fckn minutes, your vids are great and youre a skilled instructor, youve taught me lots on the six string man . props
0:36 absolutely love this lick🤘🏻
This lesson was great man, thanks a lot! It was precise and easy to understand even to a non native English speaker, like me. Keep rocking!
Music is the universal language
Without pick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're THE MAN!!!
You're amazing, man! I've been watching your lessons for a while now and learning a ton. Really impressive how you retain the sections so quickly.
I was given this exact guitar on my 16th birthday :) My Dad's a good guy.
Doodle Junky what model is this?
Every guitarist is specific, with a different style of playing. I like to see people like Cris. Who play other people's solo songs of great guitarists in their own way.
Just hearing this brings back so many memories.Thanx, your tutorials have improved my playing a great deal.I miss his music like crazy.....DIME,gone but never forgotten!!!!!
Thank you for clearing any doubts I had about this solo. Also, your teaching speed is optimal. Good job!!!
The best teacher in web.
You're the best God bless you and thank you for taking the time to teach these great guitar solos

Dude.... You are the man. I've been wanting to learn this song, and you made it possible. TY !
Keep at it.
This guy actually plays all parts the correct way. It’s refreshing to see.
thank you Mr zoupa, I'm learning because of your lessons.
Dimebag was such a unique metal guitar player. Amazing
You explain things incredibly clearly, thanks mate!
31 people tried this on a Les Paul
LMAO
I did it on my les paul, when i took it slow it wasnt that bad of a stretch
lol i try this on my fuckin 100$ les paul
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Eugene Weiliang u stfu
You should do 10's by Pantera love that guitar solo
Thank you, without your video i would never learn this badass solo! Thanks!!
thank you,you have really helped me with this solo, great work!
You are awesome Chris. Thanks for eveything!
Rock on man \m/
Thanks for this awesome lesson!
3:18 Pull-Off from 10 to 9 on the E string. 12 on the B string, 9 on E and 10 on B. That's how Dime plays it.
Rest seems correct to me.
You're awesome man, you've made me such a much better guitarist!
Thank you so much for these lessons !!
awesome lesson !
Thank you chris!, looked at alot of different videos and none of them were as accurate as yours
Great lesson, it;s going to take me some time to work through those stretches
If you don't like changing your guitar to a weird tuning, you can use a cheap daw to change the pitch of the song half a semi tone or more (depending what you tune to) to match your guitar's tuning
Great video!
Great Man! Awesome!
nicely done and thank you for your help
chris thank you so much , you make learning solos so easy and fun cheers man :D \w/
Just excellent! Thank you soo much dude!
Thanks for this lesson man! I would love to hear you play "The Sleep" Solo by Pantera. I think it's beautiful and one of Dimebags best solos.
Cara, você me ajudou MUITO a pegar esse solo bro... Muito obrigado!
Man, you help me so much to take this solo bro, thank you very much!!!
Yeah since I know Chris I tried so many times to play without pick, it's impossible! This guy is a genius!
Awesome video, man! Thanks!
Great Guitar lesson... thank you. No excessive babbling, accurate transcription. One of the best I've seen. THANK YOU!
It's amazing what you can learn in 17 minutes
you are awesome .. and a great Teacher thank you so much ...
chris ur really great ! better then those lick library guys !
Wow, here I was just thinking the other day, "Damn I wish Chris would upload a Cemetery Gates Solo". So thanks man!
Great teaching, helped a lot, thank you ;)
Perfect Lesson!! Thank you~!!
I will never be able to thank you enough
Standard tuning at A- 432hz instead of 440hz! adjusting your tuner to 432hz will make things easier for the proper tuning! I believe Dime does this with all his tunings including all dropped stuff 432hz but I'm not sure on that! you can also just tune down a quarter step give or take lol! Love the channel by the way! Keep on rocking
Thanks was looking for this
According to the 1997 live solo this lesson is the real deal.
Love how baked you looked, whether you are or not. Also great tutorial. Currently working on this so thank you
Got a new subscriber as well
I am trying to learn this solo. On piano.... But I can´t figure out the rhytm in the fast part. Can someone help me?
would surely learn this one :)
Thx its a great lesson!!!
Been working for some hours now just to remember every note.
not making fully sense right now, as i am not at full speed yet. but i reckon it will come with some days of practise.
Thanks!
dude this is so helpful 😭😭😭 especially on the 6:02 part
Thank you very much. You helped me a lot!! And cool tattoos btw 😉✌
Like man all these years later and I love Carl, but man Dime smiled when u ripped the solo
Really good lesson, sounds just like the original. Currently trying this on acoustic
The solo on acoustic… I hope this is satire
@@Lucas-dm7xo yeah I learned most of it, just have the 4th section left but it’s hard to get the same timing and hit every note. It’s a little too fast for me
Just keep it up for a while and you’ll get there I just started learning it today and I got the maybe 1/4th of it and am working on the first fast part
Solo was on point! Fucking wicked
Nice man
The video is great! Thanks. The only nit picky thing I have is the second bend in section 2 Dime actually bends and holds then hammers on with his pinky while still being bent. They both sour the same though
yes! i love you!
I want more and more pantera solos :D
love how you say "lets take a look at it.." with the hand movement :P amazing tutorial though!
I know this video's loke 4 years old but, seriously, thank you so much for this video!!!!

THANKS MAN
Thanks a lot man it help me a lot but i had a hard time on the strecthy part
thanks man
very good
omg you shoe exatcly how it goes!!!THAAAANK YOU!!!!
This is a great lesson! Its clear with no bullshit and very easy to follow as you´re not rushing through a video. My question is why on earth would Dimebag pick such a stupid tuning? Is it to fuck with us?
Thank you.
Nice man, i needed help on that smooth legato run up the neck he does before it gets faster.
Already did it! It's in my uploads somewhere! Late last year!
Thank you
Never expected Shane Walsh teaching cemetery gates❤😅🤘🏻
STILL COMEBACK HERE AFTER SO MANY YEARS 😂😂
ty so much
Crystal clear....
Chris, I don't suppose you could do a lesson for the solo on Pantera- Psycho Holiday?
It truly is a great solo.
Thanks
Dime would approve!
Finally!
Chris can you play disposable Heroes solo??
Yes my guru🤗
Cool breakdown bro. now create a shape half as beautiful
1) Thanks a lot, you nailed it. At 11:32 I hear something like a slide from f19 to f20 before the pull off.
If you do this on a Les Paul, you're gonna have a bad time
lol
+Invision Creations tbh if you really do that's prob the reason because the frets are really big
+Invision Creations bring it to a professional and have them adjust the trust rod and change the strings
Why is that? Les Paul has shorter scale length than strats and whatnots, doesn't it?
I only have a Les paul x.x
i am with you :)
