That jacket for FOUR DOLLARS is the find of the century 👏
I really wish they’d stop making blazers with shoulder pads 😑
Yes! Zara still puts them in! Zara, the 90s are gone!🤦♀️
@@mareenalewis4241 This video was my reference when I needed to take the shoulder pads out of a Zara blazer! It looks great now. I think shoulder pads can be useful if you have narrow shoulders though.
To be fair, the point of a coat is that it simplifies the lines of one's figure, accentuates positive features, and hides negative features.
Having any pad in has two core benefits. The first benefit falls under that category of simplifying the body into clear lines. Even the thinnest of pads will mold to the form on one's shoulder, this is crucial in hiding areas that stab out, such as the various peaks and troughs created by areas such as the collar bone. By inserting even a very thin pad, you can still have that natural look without any excessive added shoulder heft.
The second benefit, and the more obvious one, goes under the accentuating positive features, in this case providing a visual extension in height and width to the shoulder.
Or sew them outside of the lining so it's easier to remove
Picked up a vintage ysl homme jacket for 5eu, was super bummed when I found out it had huge padding when I put it on back at home. This vid helped me remove them, fits great now! Cheers!!
Thank you, I don't like shoulder pads, and I have a really nice blazer I'm trying this on.
Great video, I appreciate the 1st person perspective in your videos. It makes it easier to replicate at home.
Glad you liked it!
Your video was exactly what I needed. Bought a beautiful secondhand Emanuel Ungaro blazer and I wanted to remove the shoulder pads. Thanks!
Wonderful!
I’ve pulled shoulder padding out of 3 or 4 leather jackets now, very satisfying to see it fit better. I’ve seen them glued on with foam but usually pulled through some type of loop and stitched down in two places.
Great professional video!! 👏👏
Thank you so much for the video. The shoulder pads in my blazers do make them feel a little dated, so I plan to drop them off the my local tailor to have them removed.
Thank you, this was really helpful!!
Thank you for the instructional video. Much better without the pads, softer look.
This is a really useful video. Could you do one for adjusting a vintage overcoat?
Great video as allways!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Super helpful. Exactly the video I was looking for. Subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you for this video, it was very helpful for the snazzy coat I thrifted. Very appreciated :)

I like the lived in look. I just found a vintage Ferragamo blazer and need to remove the pads.
Thank you sir. Appreciate the video. Liked and subscribed
Nice video, thank you!!
Thank you!!!
Nice job on that Italian shoulder. It's not a "spella Camicia", but it's still very nice! I'm going to try it!
Thanks
Timex Q Rose Gold? My man. I got the same watch and as much as I dislike the size, I find it very comfortable and has become my go to watch. Also, it gets the most views and questions for the color. :D
Good eye! It’s definitely become my daily wearer and same people are always taken back by the cool color.
Nice!
Thank you so much!
When I take out the should pad, the shoulder and sleeve cap area still appears too big (it was cut originally for the pad to be included). What do I have to know about cutting down the market shoulder and sleeve cap in order for the excess fabric to "disappear"?
Do you have a video how to change lining by hand stitching ?
Will removing the shoulder pads affect how it gets dry cleaned? Will it loose it’s “structure” in that area?
Does the arm sleeve lenght change by removing the shoulder pads ?
hi ive got a vintage raglan coat and the shoulder pads are moderately thick. Would removing them leave tons of excess fabric?
I have a wedding to go to and bought a black suit.. I'm medium build with broad shoulders. Should I take the padding out of the jacket?
Is it feasible to do the opposite? - To add shoulder pads to a garment to add structure/ bulk.
Is it possible to alter dress pants from 38 to 30 waist? My son has a great jacket but the only suit pants left were huge. Can u make a video on this?
Let me look into that. Off that bat that seems like too much but we’ll see what we can do.
Top notch quality, by far the most the instructional and professional tailor I’ve seen so far on RUclips.
Do you think you could do a video on:
1) removing the collar roll from a suit jacket
2) shortening the coat sleeves that have surgeon cuffs from the shoulder
3) ~ alterations that could help alleviate collar gap? I know the general consensus is to size up, but if there are any known alterations to deal with a very slight collar gap?
I think I ruined my jacket, it's now Unfixable😅
What about a fur coat?
If it has shoulder pads its the same prosess
Just saved a vintage leather blazer that was making me look like a roblox character 😭
Louis I think you're very handsome, will you marry me?
Thanks for the compliment but I’ll have to decline
