Honestly I really like how this generation they’re focusing more on the monster aspect then the high schooler parts. Like the ghouls are actively using their powers like every episode and I appreciate that.
yah cleo has all her organs in jars and when they are far away from her shes affected (which is kinda like why do you do that girl) but also she has bug minions hidden in her wraps and can control her wraps like spider man.

@@AngrygaonNot myth it is what they actually did this during the mummifaction prosses. When the Pharaoh died they would disect his or her organs and put them in jars and keep them in the Pharaohs tomb along with Jewerly and the book of the dead.
Fun fact! The reason why Frankie has one long boot and one short boot is because people with prosthetic legs can’t wear any shoes that cover the prosthetic, I think it’s a neat detail and the asymmetric look works with Frankie’s aesthetic imo :)
I just wish the boots actually matched the rest of the outfit. The pink just feels random with how much blue and black there is

But why can't you wear a shoe over a prostetic, like a get not wearing knee high shoes but like other shoes should be fine

Why design something people depend on so finicky?
The answer: The medical industry doesn't care about your disabilities they just want to milk you for money.
It'd be cool if there was a prosthetic that can have clothing cover it, I feel like I want to know what would be needed for that
I think the wings on the Deuce doll’s shoes are a reference to the winged sandals used by Perseus, the Greek hero who slayed Medusa. If I remember correctly, Deuce’s pet is named Perseus.
Was there any mentions to Deuce's father? If not.... WELL...
I think its a cool touch but I personally think for him its abit strange to have a reference to the man who killed his mother
Im pretty sure the reason for those references is he and his mother do not like each other, so it’s probably his way of rebelling against her.

fun fact, Frankie's prosthetic leg has a small boot because irl prosthetic legs can't walk in knee high boots. YAY Accuracy
The reason Frankie's hair is sticky is bc their hair is saran! It's a hair type that doesn't feel as nice as nylon, but visually it's much better for straight styles (like Frankie's) because the stickiness prevents frizz and lays flatter
To be honest I like the new outfits in the context of casual school clothes. They're still stylish, but not unrealistic for someone to just pick out and wear to school. I think they should work times for more complex outfits into the plot, though.
Thats the issue tbh-fashion dolls arent meant to be realistic their meant to be high glam and fantastical clothing wise, making them everyday joes ruins the whole point, their meant to be an escape from reality

You know what...you are right! I do recall thinking the G1 MH characters' shoes being totally ridiculous for school despite liking the look of them. I do wish there were more use of black but the new outfits aren't really that bad. Also, I do have to appreciate how the characters have more visually distinctual body shapes. Draculara is more pudgy, Frankie is tall, and Clawdeen is on the skinnier side.

the difference between Pink Latino Lagoona and Blue Australian Lagoona reminded me of the pink dolphin and sea dolphin, all we're missing is Pink Lagoona being fresh water

we have lots of pink dolphins here and it’s part of our folklore, but honestly they’re kinda weird irl, they’re actually grey but are so aggressive even during play time, they end up covered in pink scars lol, they usually target each other though, haven’t heard people having trouble with them other than fishing inconveniences
As someone who loves werewolves I genuinely enjoy that clawdeen has face fur, people are so scared of making their werewolves furries for no reason. Go nuts, make a dog person actually look like a dog.
same I love that they actually added fur, I wish they added more muscle tho and mb she could be a weightlifter? Werewolves are like super strong so it'd make sense, also it'd just be really nice to see a character (especially a female one) who weight lifts yknow?

Also both his brothers have wings at least occasionally, ones Pegasus the other is sometimes depicted as a man and other times as a winged boar
As a character designer: I do not like a LOT of the decisions made for the reboot designs and characters
BUT
finally giving Frankie a prosthetic was something I was ecSTATIC to see and I'm so so glad that did that, it was always something I thought about being so cool with a character who's whole thing was that they were stitched together! AND *IT LOOKS GREAT ON THE DOLLS*
Sure I don't like some of the design choices but the design choices I DO like went so hard and I Applaud for the clear amount of thought that went into the reboot versions

Honestly imo frankie's reboot was the only one that grew on me i love their new hairstyle, but just her though for I really miss the victorian style draculaura had and the tomboyish/punk vibe clawdeen used to emit also WHERE ARE DULCE'S SHADES ;-;
actually a big thing on G1 monster high dolls was that all the characters had different molds. It was really cool back then and it's cool to see them doing that again
I thought Lagoona’s skin was changed from blue to pink due to focus testing with children. The kids who played with the Lagoona doll preferred her having pink skin as opposed to having blue skin.

As a new fan (though not a child), thank you. I've been shy to speak up because the fandom doesn't seem to welcome newcomers. Honestly, I'm not gothic, and I'm getting into fashion because of Monster High rather than the other way around, so it was literally just a case of me getting a RUclips ad, being like, "There's a non-binary main character?!" watching the reboot, and loving it.
I'm an old fan. Glad you enjoy it! I really just miss all the character dynamics. I like some changes they made to some designs though.
also that reminds me, apparently, g3 lagoona is like. the spicy latina woman stereotype, most evident with the lyric "i'm chili mango, i'm sweet and i'm spicy". note that this isn't according to me, but other people of latina/o descent.
I really like how they did Chloe and her having to have her parts close to her so she doesn't act weird. I'm wondering what toralei is going to do in the show. I like the show so far. also the dog is named watsi I think

I don't know if you know this, or if what you said about her parts is official for her this generation, but it's a reference to the Ancient Egyptian mummification process. When mummifying the body their organs would be thrown into canopic jars for preservation. I just loved seeing that joke in this generation😹.
Frankie's pet is named Watzie, he was in g1 too but his name was Watzit instead.
I think Frankie's outfit is all made of that pleather/plasticky material because it's shiny and looks similar to leather and her outfit very heavily leans into the electricity aspect of her character, as well as the somewhat 'punk' parts of the character design. I've seen a lot of dolls that have that material for 'punk' outfit pieces (like leather jackets or skirts). I've also seen it used to cut costs so who knows :/

A bout the Frankie Prosthetics leg and there boot is a real thig. Its not uncommon for mismatched boots height on a Prosthetic leg so that it can still move right depending on prosthetic model.

Ok since Mattel already brought back Monster High now with all the G3 stuff, they 𝙃𝘼𝙑𝙀 𝙏𝙊 bring back Ever After High since they are both from Mattel which is the company that created both of these franchises. So I wouldn't be surprised if Mattel decides to bring back Ever After High, that is if they can execute it well and keep to the original demographic of the show that we grew up watching and not have it be a dumpster fire. I just hope that Mattel can at least give the characters more depth and character development like with what they did with Briar Beauty and with Raven Queen and I also want to see more world building, like with what they did with Wonderland in S3 and actually explore the woods where supposedly Cerise Hood's family lives in because if you don't know, there is a location in the woods where wolves and humans live together. So I want them to explore that and to also give Cerise Hood more episodes or just spin-offs because Red Riding Hood is my favorite fairytale of all time and I want to see Cerise be like doing her own thing instead of following into her mother's footsteps and just be herself, be who she wants to be and proudly say to the world "This is who I am".
Ever After High is pretty much dead because of Disney being greedy assholes, they were the reason why Ever After High died in the 1st place
While the opportunity to a reboot/remake of EAH is not impossible it's really difficult to pursue due to Disney's Descendants still active and with no sing to stop
Cameron Boyce is dead so they can't go on without him
I would love if Mattel decided to bring Ever After High back and could personally picture them doing it as well. However, Disney's Descendants is coming back sometime next year, and that franchise was the whole reason Ever After High ended in the first place. Also, Monster High seems to be shifting more into the lighthearted brand that Ever After High used to be. Perhaps so they could try and bring back their old Monster High and Ever After High audiences. Therefore, they won't have to do a revival/reboot of Ever After High and be able to focus on only one franchise.
If they did it would probably start in monster high, like as a backdoor pilot sort of deal to make sure the new fanbase see's it. My main issue is with the brighter style of the new dolls the fairytale asthetic might blend more... or it might help it out if the styles are closer, I dunno.
Medusa is related to the gorgon (I forget how) and pegasus was born from Medusas blood so the wings on his shoes might be a reference to that. I like it
Medusa is related to the gorgon because she is literally a gorgon lmao, greek mythology consists of 'the three monstrous gorgons' from what I could find, Stheno, Eurayle and Medusa. Medusa is just the most popular/well known.
She is not just related to the gorgons she literally IS a gorgon. She's one of the three gorgon sisters.
Lagoona is not selling because there is an issue with the sealing on the paint of her legs where it goes from clear blue to the solid pink. I think once they fix the way they are sealing the doll so that issue is solved she will sell as well as the others.
G1 dolls had it too (For example Invisibilly) so idk if that's really the reason
Frankie and toralei also have that issue tho, frankies stitches keep coming off
it's cool that they included the whole Frankie introducing themself with they/them pronouns in the cartoon as well as the movie. I was unsure if cartoon Frankie was also nonbinary like movie Frankie until seeing that bit
As someone who only joined the MH community with G3, thank you for being more aware of us newbies who like these designs.
Have you ever heard of Twisted Wonderland? I think you’d really like it. It’s a Japanese Disney video game with kinda the premise and story of Ever After High and Descendants (characters inspired by characters from fairytales and Disney movies), but the aesthetics of Monster High gen 1 (haunted castle and lots of goth and punk outfits).
The funniest thing Lagoona said in ep1 "ah that love story is killer"🤣😂
I was really hoping the reason lagoona was pink was so they could make her one of those dolls that change color in water. So she could be pink dry but blue in water. I don't think they're doing that unfortunately which just leaves me confused as to why her name is still lagoona BLUE. Idk, I was more upset about it at first but new and old lagoona are so different they kinda just register as completely separate entities. So even though there's definite things I would change about her new character I can't really be mad at it anymore. Except the name that's still just confusing to me.
She is getting a hairplay set in the future so here's hoping she has a color change mechanic with that!
I have a first gen ICoffin (don't remember which doll it was with) but it had a back loop to fit over the 4 fingers. It was 2 layers, the top was the screen and the bottom one had a keyboard. The dolls are disappointing when compared to gen 1 dolls that had beautiful and layered clothing and prettier/better made accessories, but they don't seem like bad dolls. I'm glad they kept the articulation and the small details on accessories :)

Can I say when it comes to the Draculora which craft shit, as a trans girl who's not out to their parent's but has suportive friends who did help (when I was at uni) it resonated really strongly with me.
I still can't get over what they did to my girl Lagoona. She was always my favorite and it just makes me really sad. There is a lot of good things about the reboot though.
It’s still a pretty design and she’s certainly a lot funnier then she used to be. And blue prototypes we saw were horrifying 🥲

I think the most important thing about the reboot for me (and why I’m still enjoying it) is that it’s not completely soulless like some other reboots. I feel like the dolls still have quite a bit of effort put into them design wise, and the characters still have a lot of charm (which is half of why I enjoyed monster high to begin with). I love posing my G3 Frankie and Draculaura, they make me very happy every time I see them on my shelf. Yeah the show is different, and there are things I will miss, but I do think the people who are working on it really care and I feel like it shows in the little details of the dolls and the writing
(Also I feel like people forget just how janky the og webisodes of monster high looked, and also how childish some of the humor was 🤷♀️)
I really like how you review the play-ability of these dolls! Like collectors items are collectors items, but toys are toys. I’m super happy to see that these dolls have a ton of articulation! I’m partial to doll customization, so seeing that these dolls have more diversity in height/body and faces is really exciting! I can’t wait to see what kinds of customs everyone makes!
Okay but like .. if they had to change Frankie to blue ... wouldn't it have "clashed" with Lagoona also being blue?

Having two blue dolls, and two pink dolls is a lot more balanced as far as color goes.
(I also heard someone compare her to an axolotl and so I don't mind the color change anymore. Lol)
Draculaura is OVERWHELMINGLY pink. It's just strange to have two pink dolls now, I feel like Lagoona didn't have to be blue per-se, but that shade of pink just looks like normal human skin. It's bland, she just looks like an e girl
By that logic lagoona cant be pink either because we already have our classic ol pink girl herself draclaura , it doesnt work when the color they choose is one antoer main character already embiaded :/

as for the reboot,i'm actually starting to find some things i like about it and i don't know if that's a good thing or not: 1. i like non-binary frankie (it makes perfect sense for someone that is created from different body parts and is still new to the world so no gender has been imposed on them yet) 2. i love toralei new look. 3. lagoona's fangs are amazing and 4. CLEO JUST DUMPPED HER HEART ONTO HER DESK.

The only reason why Deuce would logically have that wing accessory on his shoes might be because Perseus (who slayed Medusa) was given a reflective shield by Athena and winged sandals by Hermes, but if that’s the reference then that’s pretty dark, if Medusa is actually Deuce’s mom
Listen... What if in this series Perseus is actually Duece's dad? That would make sence with shoes, and then Medusa isnt dead by now
As for the confusion about the continuity of the series and the movie, think of it as like what Descendants did in which they have two separate continuities with premises. Wicked World, the movies and the books have their own versions of children of Disney characters so there's that.
I'm choosing to see Duece's pet mouse with the bike as a Biker Mice from Mars reference and no once can stop me.
I like the designs for this generation a lot but I do have a few nit picks Such as Lagoona’s outfit, we won’t talk about Ghoulia, Cleo’s design makes her look to much like Nefera, Toralei only has 3 stripes when her last name is literally stripe also the animated ver of her looks a whole lot better than the dolls, I miss Duece’s shades, Draculuara’s doll’s face is a bit wonky sometimes (that’s not a design error just a printing one) but other than those the series is pretty good
I know is probably a reference to Hermes and Perseus, but in some versions of the Greek myths gorgons have wings so that could be the reason for the snake with wings on his shoes
6:59, from what I've seen so far, the series appears to be focusing on only Clawdeen, Draculaura and Frankie with other characters being the main side character(s) of the episode. To try and explain it better, the two most recent episodes, "Case of the Moondays" and "Portrait of a Monster", star Clawdeen and Frankie, Clawdeen being the main focus in "Case of the Moondays" and Frankie being the main focus in "Portrait of a Monster". However, in "Case of the Moondays", Cleo was only absent for 1/4 of the episode. This might be because the plot was centered around both Clawdeen and her, but then Clawdeen proceeds to say that the whole "summary" of the episode, was her Monster Minute.
Moving on to "Portrait of a Monster", Frankie is the main focus as Deuce is in only 1/2 of the episode. He was only in it 1/4 less than Cleo was in "Case of the Moondays". However, even with presumably less screen time then her, he still managed to leave just as big of a mark in the episode. Hence, Frankie x Deuce is notably hinted at in one scene.
Ngl, seeing Frankie's design in the show, her doll does NOT do her any justice. I wish the sculpt for it was more accurate to how it actually looks in the show because she is GORGEOUS.
I've always had loved the monster high had different face shapes for each of the dolls! As a doll customizer I'm glad they kept it the feature for the new dolls, Lagoona and Abby were definitely my favorite face shapes, Abby's was so sharp and square while Lagoona's was so round and her eyes were so large and child like.
I never been so early nor have watched the full thing, but this video so far seems so good! Perfect timing too!
Something I like about the new dolls, the fact that they’re play line I think leans into the ooak doll community
It’s a relatively cheap doll that kids can enjoy but it also focuses more on the sculpts of the dolls themselves
I can’t wait to see someone reroot and customize one of these dolls, cause if they’re hardy enough to be customized monster high might be paying a lot more attention to the older fans than we think
My headcanon is that both lagoonas are relatives and that either the firstborn daughters in the blue clans/families are always named lagoona or that both lagoonas parents were close and wanted to name their firstborns the same thing either outta solidarity or out of remembrance of a friend or relative.
On the topic of the legs if they go the route where in water she becomes a translucent blue to camouflage and on land is when she becomes pink that would be cool enough to be justification for the skin change for me.
Apparently from what I've heard the reason that lagoona got the trendification overhaul is cuz she had the lowest rating of the dolls.
Plus it's cheaper to use an already owned copyright of an older character instead of going thru the effort to obtain a new copyright for a new character.
The girl dolls don't have ankle joints but I still love my drac she fricking gore-geous.
Something neat that I like about deuce's reboot is that his snakes represent each of the seven deadly sins and they try to convince him to do mischief, I think according to their sin.
Suprinsigly I started prefering the new Frankie and Laguna, they have more distinctive personalities compared to the original ones. I think I'll give a chance to this new show 😊
I love how finally in one of many incarnations of MH they finally gave Torellai a tail, now give Clawdeen one too and we are all set

She was already Australian making her indigenous would have been such an easy transition rather than making her Hispanic which don’t get me wrong it’s great that Hispanic people have more representation I love that it’s just Aboriginal people get very little to no representation so it would have been amazing

I love how Clawdeen has a human form this time around, AND she looks more wolfish in her werewolf form. As a werewolf fan, I’m happy to see that.
I also think the Deuce’s shoes are a play on Air Jordan’s. Notice the silver band saying “Gorgon” which is funny. Duce Gorgon. Air Gorgon. Greek Mythology. It’s all one big pun.
i think the new younger looks are cute and you can almost imagine that some of them grow into the forms we knew from g1. i mean we cant do that for lagoona and like there would obviously be some differences for frankie, but still.
Gorgons in Greek mythology had wings, this is most likely the explanation as to why Deuce has them on his shoes!
One thing I really like about G3 dolls is how the male dolls are more proportionate. (Or at least what I saw so far.) The og dolls will always be my favorite, but the boy dolls always looked weird to me.

I think the reason Deuce has wings on his shoes is because gorgons are often depicted to have wings, this isnt usually seen in modern depictions tho

I have a really hard time watching creators who talk so slow to drag their time on, you flow at a speed that feels natural, doesnt force me to speed up the playback, and really keeps my attention ! Especially with how much/how many things you're going over in each of your videos, its pleasant to listen to !
Seeing all those poor unsold lagoonas makes me very said she's my favorite character I hope she doesn't get shafted again like in generation 1

I’m thinking there will be one episode addressing everyone finding our draculara is a witch. And by the end of the episode it’s solved. And then everyone magically just accepts witchcraft. And then they add in a witch character (because girls love witches right? Maybe like a human witch named Luz…) like maybe the daughter of the wicked witch (the green shade of her skin is copyrighted) or the candy witch (Hansel and Gretel) or the daughter of babayaga. Or maybe daughter of the evil queen… they could make her Crow or a bird name… not Raven because that is taken . feel like that would be fun. And be stuff that does not have to mess with the continuity of the rest of the episodes.

My grandparents on my mums side able to use technology no issues. My grandparents on my dads side have to take a photo on each of their phones because they don’t understand you can share them. They are all about the same age my paternal grandparents just can’t be bothered to learn when they can complain instead.

I loved seeing negative review those dolls. I actually just boight them as my first g3 dolls. Frankies ankles are not articulated, but their elbows are. Its just the clothing holding their elbow in a stuck spot.
Frankies dog originally was named Watzit but they changed it to Watzie in the reboot (i was very curious about them once i saw the dolls since i grew up with a Frankie doll which had Watzit and he was my go to pet toy.) He had brown fur, green and blue eyes and stitches all over him and i believe angel wings as well. They changed the design a lot i guess to appeal more into the "cute pet" idea
Duece's pet rat is named Perseus and Frankie's pet dog is named watzie, but it was named watzit in G1(I like that better). Also in the two pack they have no wings, but they have bolt shaped wings with the first wave Frankie. And they're not all metallic, so I'm curious why they did that.

In terms of the reboot because a lot of other stuff from my childhood had been rebooted so I expected to be angry. Now I'm looking at it as, a new show not made for us og fans. There's some changes I wasn't 100% on board about until I had a think about it, like lagoona. As an Australian kid seeing her in the movies it made me feel like "hey I have an accent just like her she's like me". Because in main stream media there weren't a lot of aussies to look up to. Now seeing her as Latina Is amazing because other kids can see themselves through her and that's awesome as an Indigenous Australian.

I watched the original due (as I’ve mentioned before) goth and fashion elements. It was wonderful that a company created a show surrounding a series that showcased a spooky but fun series, that made kids feel like they were able to express themselves. I admire that, as a adult myself, who likes to dress in a feminine but gothic way. I think I might give this a try. I wish they kept Lagoona’s original outfits and design. It’s now way to cutesy for my taste. And give back Clawdeen’s awesome platforms! I lived vicariously through her!😅I can’t wear platforms cuz they make me hella tall. 😭 I’ll definitely give the new series a try, as it does deserve a loyal fan base. I recently watched the movie, the songs weren’t my cup of tea (I’m not a big fan of musicals) but I thought it was good. I did get a chuckle out of that heart joke. 😉 I’m afraid I haven’t seen a Monster High doll here in my province in about three years? If I come across any of newest generation I think I’d purchase both Cleo and Frankie. I definitely agree about Clawdeen and Deuce. Why they the writers- broke Cleo and Deuce up in the live action movie. While I never shipped them, I thought it was weird that they would do so. 🤷🏻♀️
It was stated in some behind the scenes influencer meet up with the writers of Monster Higher, that the movie and the tv show are in there own universes. Giving us the monster high equivalent of the marvel-verse. No idea why, but their doing it in an attempt to keep G1 around and make more live action movies. I got my info from another video of an RUclipsr who attended the meet up.
Letting that the sponsor is false advertising, you cannot be a lord or lady through this and its more of a gag gift for friends and families!
This generation has actually got me back into the series and doll collecting. I’m actually excited for all of the future doll releases and already have a little wishlist going for both new and old dolls.
I love Lagoona's new look and her outfit... I just didn't buy her cuz of the incredibly uneven dots on her forehead. I know I could just take them off and paint new ones on, but I knk myself and I'm not going to do that.
So I'm waiting until they release a doll of her without wonky head dots. Seriously I must have looked at 50 of these dolls and they all have weirdly painted forehead dots.

The new dolls are actually better than I expected! I think they’re pretty good! Definitely not the same quality that the OG monster high was but when you compare them to other dolls these days like Mermaze or however the heck you spell it and Barbie they’re really good! Articulation, lots of little accessories for some fun play, and little pets. Yes, there definitely could’ve been some improvements but I honestly thought there would be the same cheapy dolls as when Ever After High was dying and they all had moulded tops
If the Lagoona Blue stock is that many, that only means that the doll isn't selling very well. It's the same thing for books too.

For what the show is it's fine. Not too spectacular but not too dull. I mostly question of few of the choices they made for the characters like having Lagoona shoot water out of her ears or not giving Dracula his accent but giving one to Toralei. And turning Crescent from a cat to a dog, I don't know the reason for that change it doesn't make sense. I do like somethings like the art style and a few of the characters and some of the lore, just wish the change was this big.
