Everything will be back to normal again. You might have to do this with multiple, even all, drawings in a layer depending on how much you have used the lasso. Trace your layer on to a new layer (like you normally would anyway when cleaning up). Then delete the problematic layer.

Hi Jayashree! Actually it is Mike Morris doing the drawing (and speaking) in these videos. He is a talented and experienced Disney animator. The most important basic thing though, for being able to make quality lines and drawings digitally, is to use a drawing tablet with pressure sensitivity (like a Wacom or Huion or some other brand). Are you already doing that - or are you using your mouse? A mouse is not really suitable for proper drawing. Best, Niels

Hi, how can i fix the following problem i have, everytime i draw something, the line looks pixel not smooth as shown in the video, what can i do. as well as the eraser tool, it doesn´t erase properly
We have a “known issue” on some older graphics cards on PC, where blocks of garbage pixels show instead of the line. It sounds like you are experiencing this problem. Unfortunately as far as we know there’s nothing you can do to fix it. We are aware that this happens for a few unfortunate people - and we need to find a way to fix it within AP. It is on our todo list! If you want to help us find the problem, please let me know what kind of graphics card you have as well as other specs of your computer. You can post it here or email me. So far, I love the look of the program. My brush is lagging though! It’s pretty laggy and i’m confused as of why. Nothing else lags on other apps so why this one?
Strange. Something must be wrong - Normally people report it’s the fastest line. In what way does it lag? I mean, does it only draw the line once you finish it and lift the pen? What hardware do you have (Wacom? CPU? Graphics Card?) It would be great to get to the bottom of this. Thanks, Niels KM
@@vixviarts ok! Maybe you need to switch it to Windows Ink. Please check out my blog post for Alpha 3 where I describe a way to do that. Let me know if you need more help.
@@AnimationPaper I'm afraid "subtle" and "barely noticeable" are accurate descriptions. I see no stabilization, especially as compared to when I turn on Hej Stylus. If you do have it built into the program, it would be great to enable users to adjust the degree of stabilization and the ability to toggle it on and off as desired.
@@ronaldlongtin3785 I understand. We might have a switch and some settings for it in one of our later alpha updates. Can I assure you it is noticeable if you switch it off. :) I mean it works really well - without being intrusive. It is not just giving you a simple smoothing based on averaging your last points in your drawn curve (like other stabilizers are). I think my programmer did a brilliant job with this algorithm. You see, Animation Paper is efficient to work with, it does not get in your way, it is uncluttered. I think that is great. And how do you make it that way? By keeping things fast and simple, and when stuff is advanced and complicated- keep that under the hood. That’s my reason for doing it this way. But I do appreciate that some user settings is preferable. At least for some. Thanks for your input. It has been noted.
@@AnimationPaper Simple, uncluttered, efficient software that doesn't get in the way and isn't bloated with an overabundance of features is definitely ideal. And this is what I'm loving about Animation Paper. Having said that, on/off stabilization with editable parameters is, in my opinion, a very basic part of a drawing application's toolset these days, and programs like TVPaint, Moho, Toon Boom, Photoshop, and Krita have built-in, adjustable smoothing options.
@@ronaldlongtin3785 I get that. But our stabiliser is special and deeply worked into our curved line drawing algorithm - and basically it doesn't have adjustment possibilities because of how it works (it of course has internally, but most of the variables doesn't make sense to let the user adjust because it needs to be finely tuned for optimal usage). Anyway, we are looking into possibly making one or two options available to the user. If not just an on/off switch. (witch isn't as simply done as it sounds) ;) Best, Niels
Man I'm A young Animator And I have been Doing my Animation From the past few months in Pencil 2d But that software is just some buggy So i wanted to See another free software that is a step up from pencil 2d. Just wanted to ask Does it have shape tools?
Animation Paper is focused on hand drawn animation. If you by “shape tools” mean rectangle- and circle tools, then no, it does not have that. At least not so far. But you should go ahead and download it! It is easy to learn, simple and uncluttered, but very fast and efficient with powerful features. Try it! Yes, you can import one or more png images with your character model. It will automatically show up in a separate reference layer. Let me know if that answered your question or not? Thanks, Niels
What happens at 6:08? You create a new blank drawing, but then magically the chicken appears in that new blank frame, with no explanation as to how. Thanks. :-)
We are just dissolving to a point a bit later - fast forwarding to where the second drawing is almost done. Sorry that it isn't clear enough what happens.
@@AnimationPaper Hello ... i have tried copying my original drawing to the new empty drawing page that was created with CTRL+DOWN ARROW but all i get is a yellow clone. Is there a way to copy the drawing to the "next" empty drawing page in order to make the changes?
@@rolandobertone2341 Sure, just hit O on your keyboard to turn any clone into an original. I.e. loose its link. Another way is to lasso the part you want to keep and stamp it down on your blank drawing. Best practice, though, is to just draw the next frame from scratch using the light-table to guide you. This helps keeping your animation fresh and character alive (of course also depends on the style you are aiming for).
Go to the menu Draw -> Drawing Tools -> Reset User Settings. This will reset your pencil tool. By adding rows - do you mean adding frames or layers? Here's how you do both of them: To add a Blank Drawing (one more frame), just click the plus icon in the Tool Bar or press the shortcut Ctrl Arrow-Down. To add a New Layer, you hit N. I hope that helps! Best, Niels
@@AnimationPaper hey thank you so much I sorted out the layers but the pencil has the thickness still don't know why it won't work after doing what you told me.
@@lifestorieslessons2417 maybe you are at a very low resolution? That will make the pens look thicker. I recommend using the HD (1920x1080) resolution. Will there be a Brush Stabilizer in later updates? Or is there already one in this version and I'm just not finding it? My line work looks very janky and in most other softwares there's usually a brush stabilizer to help smooth out the jankyness.
It actually already has a quite clever and subtle stabilizer working on all strokes. Are you using a pen or a mouse? Using the mouse as a drawing tool is not recommended. Other software has a simple smoothing algorithm based on just averaging the latest input points, that can be helpful in some situations - maybe this kind of smoothing is what you are looking for? Please let me know more. Thanks, Niels
@@elyonclockworths Pen - great :) Opacity - no I'm talking about stabilizer like you asked about. We have it build in, but it is subtle and not a kind of algorithm that's adjustable. So I am asking what kind of additional smoothing (stabilizing) you would like? And should it be on the paint brush only (because it lends itself to sort of being dragged behind like the tip of the brush in real life). I want to hear from you what you miss in the current Animation Paper. Thanks a lot!
@@AnimationPaper In the softwares I use, there is a scale you can adjust how much the correction of the brush strokes you'd like to be. So a scale setting on the stabilization/correction that applies to all tools would be nice.
Just go to File -> Import. Your audio file must be in mp3 or wav format. It will automatically show up as a waveform in your x-sheet and sound when you scrub and play. You must have frames present, in order to both see and hear the audio. The frames can just be a number of blank clones.
@@AnimationPaper also I am using it right now.. is there any way to do lines? Because my lines are terrible and shaky using my mouse and I want them straight Thanks

(I can help you get it to work anyway). Or if you are talking about the regular working pencil that has some texture in it.
If you by “selected” mean something you lassoed - you need to use the cutter instead. The cutter is exactly like the lasso, but it removes the part from the drawing. Hit X for the cutter. “Selected” could also mean one or multiple thumbnails in the x-sheet. You click the first thumb, then hold Shift and select the last thumb. The most important basic thing though, for being able to make quality lines and drawings digitally, is to use a drawing tablet with pressure sensitivity (like a Wacom or Huion or some other brand). Are you already doing that - or are you using your mouse? A mouse is not really suitable for proper drawing. Best, Niels
@@AnimationPaper O got it Sir!!
it says this could harm my device is it ok or no???
It is totally OK. :) Windows will automatically warn about it because it is "unknown" to Microsoft. We are only in alpha stage (still developing), so this is why. No problem installing!
My address is the one you got your activation key from. Thanks! Niels
@@AnimationPaper It goes while the pen is down, but it doesn’t keep up. I use an xp-pen 15.6!
@@vixviarts ok! Maybe you need to switch it to Windows Ink. Please check out my blog post for Alpha 3 where I describe a way to do that. Let me know if you need more help.
@@AnimationPaper Oh, thank you!! Do you possibly have a link??
@@vixviarts read my comment below the article (top comment): animationpaper.com/2020/09/18/alpha-3-up-for-grabs/
This is looking very nice! Do you plan to add a stabilization option to the drawing tools?
Thanks! Animation Paper already has a subtle stabilizer. It’s barely noticeable when you draw, but very effective. Have you tried it yet?
Man I'm A young Animator
And I have been Doing my Animation From the past few months in Pencil 2d
But that software is just some buggy
So i wanted to See another free software that is a step up from pencil 2d. Just wanted to ask
Does it have shape tools?
Animation Paper is focused on hand drawn animation. If you by “shape tools” mean rectangle- and circle tools, then no, it does not have that. At least not so far. But you should go ahead and download it! It is easy to learn, simple and uncluttered, but very fast and efficient with powerful features. Try it! You won’t regret it: HTTPS://animationpaper.com thanks, Niels
… and we managed to keep bugs to an absolute minimum! It is not even in beta - but super robust. Just try it! ;)

Ok 👌
i have animation paper in computer =D
can we use also pics of characters we need?
My pencil is thick how do I reset it and how do you add the rows?
If that is not the problem, I would like to see a screenshot showing the thick pencil. If you don’t mind, please email it to me. My email is the one you got your activation key from. Thanks! Niels
@@AnimationPaper I'm using a pen. If you're talking about the opacity, that doesn't do anything reguarding how the shape of the lines come out.
If the setting already exists, where do you find it in Animation Paper?
im not sure if im just being not smart, but how do i add audio? :-3
Just go to File -> Import. Your audio file must be in mp3 or wav format. It will automatically show up as a waveform in your x-sheet and sound when you scrub and play. You must have frames present, in order to both see and hear the audio. The frames can just be a number of blank clones.
@@AnimationPaper thank youu! :)
Amazing software… all the others were way too complicated and finicky with no support
Thank you 🤗
@@AnimationPaper also I am using it right now.. is there any way to do lines? Because my lines are terrible and shaky using my mouse and I want them straight
Thanks
@@tallsz559 We do recommend using a drawing tablet, like a Wacom or other brand, You can’t really draw well with a mouse. But it is possible. We support it. About straight lines - we are going to add a simple way of doing lines by holding down shift or something. Something people are used to from Photoshop. Coming soon in one of the next Alpha releases.
For now, remember to use the rotating view. Rotate it so it is on a good angle and then it will be easier to do a straight line even with a mouse. Use a book or something to slide your mouse up against. I mean physically on your table :)
@@AnimationPaper Great idea! BTW I was using the lasso, cut, and rotate features and they are definitely saving me insane amounts of time.. Great job on this, it’s so easy to use
How did u get your pencil to look like that mines has lines in it when I'm drawing. Im trying to make the pencil look like that.

@@AnimationPaper but the problem is the pencil has dots in it it isn't as smooth or clean as your pencil tool.
@@AnimationPaperI'm just trying to see if u could give me help on that. Or some type of guidance.
@@dariancoleman7184 I haven't received any email from you. Did you send it to the email address I talked about above? The reason I want to see it my self is to determine if you are talking about gross lines/boxes/texturing/garbage which is an error that could be caused by an old on board type of graphics hardware. (I can help you get it to work anyway). Or if you are talking about the regular working pencil that has some texture in it.
how do I delete a selected part
If you by “selected” mean something you lassoed - you need to use the cutter instead. The cutter is exactly like the lasso, but it removes the part from the drawing. Hit X for the cutter.
“Selected” could also mean one or multiple thumbnails in the x-sheet. You click the first thumb, then hold Shift and select the last thumb. Now you can delete the whole sequence of drawings using Edit > Delete Selected Drawings or just hit the minus-icon in the Tool Bar (same thing). Let me know if at least one of my answers helped :)
Where can I download this software and do I need a table?
Do you mean a drawing tablet? It is not technically required, you can use a mouse, but it is recommended to use some kind of pen and tablet (like a Wacom or Huion or other brand) for any serious use. They can be the small cheap ones though if you are on a tight budget - no problem. ;) You download the pre-release of Animation Paper for free right here: animationpaper.com/download-pre-release/
