- First impressions of the Circle D 3200-3400 stall converter that I installed in my 2016 Charger R/T with the 8HP70 transmission. The car has a variety of mods, from an upgraded camshaft to long tube headers. Is upgrading the torque converter worth it? Does a higher stall converter make daily driving a hassle? I address these questions.
Here’s the deal. If it’s a daily driver and you don’t track it, there’s no sense in a high stall converter. That’s people getting a mod they aren’t well informed about. In basic terms it helps at the track. Yes, the daily driving is going to be different and a little sluggish cause you’re not using the converter. You’ll definitely get at least 2ish tenths off the 60’.
yea but if you have a stock converter with a larger cam it tends to push through the converter at lights and stops and sometimes will even stall. so even on the street at least for a nag 1 trans that has longer gears i feel like the converter will help with street and track
Also it’s more reliable than the stock converter if your running forced induction in my opinion, correct me if I’m wrong. but that’s the whole reason I’m looking into a better torque converter for a 11-14 😅

That is awesome news. Really makes wish I did the stall converter before I decided to get rid of my sublime 15 Challenger. I had just spent so much into it including the 3.09 rear differential and 6.4 intake manifold. This was after so many other things besides the cam, like the laguna leather seats.

I wish mine drove like yours does. I have a camaro ss with a cam and 3600 circle d. The rpms dont drop when it shifts, up until it locks around 45-50mph then it drives like normal. Its a fun car but driving around town just burns through gas. I dont drive that far but run through half a tank a day. Btw, did you install a trans cooler? I highly recommend it if you dont have one

Did you ever have issues with the throttle warning light i was driving home from work it turned on in the dash as well as all the warning light and it turned off the dash lights and back on car ran fine home just wanted to see id thats a common issue

Got a mid 1.9 60 foot but accidentally left the car in manual mode haha. What was your time last night?
First run was a 8.63 then I ran a 8.43. I think I could get to 8.3. My 60 foot was the same 1.97
I only ran twice. It was toooooo packed!!

Hows the temperature with high convertor
It runs pretty cool because I run the trans thermostat bypass as well. Rarely see it above 130F
