Less armor = more dmg, more dmg = more rage and its a instant ability. It can also proc Overpower ;) This works especially well for 2h warriors.
Great video but there are a couple of things that i want to touch. When you are hamstring kiting you don't want to wait for your swing timer to go ALL the way up before you start running towards the mobs, you will lose a lot of time this way. Lets say you are using a 3.6 second weapon, if you wait for your swing timer to go ALL the way up before you start running towards the mob you basically turned your 3.6 sec weapon into a 4 sec weapon which will make you lose a lot of time in the long run. What you want to do is start running towards the mob when the swing timer is around 85% - this way you wont lose time between your auto attacks. The other thing i wanted to touch on is your stat priority. You don't want to kill mobs in your spirit gear because the time you "gain" between mobs is lost due to you wearing that spirit gear in the first place. If you really want to optimize your downtime you should use an addon called "outfitter" and change into your spirit gear between mobs. Strength is almost useless while you are leveling since most of your dmg comes from your weapon anyways so the stat priority i recommend is agility > stamina > strength.
Sal Smith I know the example of kiting wasn’t perfect, so you’re right about that, as far as wearing your spirit gear, just as you said, most of your damage comes from your weapon, I’ve tried both ways, using outfitter, and not, and in my experience the difference in kill time is negligible, but I do appreciate your knowledge and input!
@@salsmith725 No problem at all! I'm still a student of the game, always will be, I love learning whatever I can about it! And more videos on the way soon!
What a great vid Atacas! I really enjoyed it man. Soo many great nuggets of knowledge, it really makes me (Defcamp) want to play a warrior so damn bad!! Keep it up brother!!
I use a macro that switches back and forth from Battle stance to Defensive stance, while equipping the appropriate items, indefinitely. /cast battle stance /eq (weapon name) /cast defensive stance /eq (shield name) /eq (weapon name) To insert the name of the items just shift click on that item when you are typing in the macro window.
I was expecting you to talk about executioner's blade.Great tips I would love if you could talk a bit more about weapons, and maybe some vendor limited ones but I suppose you priorities gold for the mount.Keep up the good work!
Burianek Johann thank you! Yeah this video was purely about spending the least amount of gold you can while leveling as quickly as possible too, maybe in the future I’ll go over other weapon choices that take a bit longer to get
For Weapon progression on Alliance I recommend the following: [Smite's Mighty Hammer] (w/ Fiery Weapon)@lvl 18 - [Whirlwind Axe] (w/ Crusader/Lifesteal)@lvl 30 - [Ice Barbed Spear]@lvl50 until 60. You can probably fit another two hander in between WW axe and spear from ZF. Acquire these items as soon as you can equip them; but it will require you to ask a guild member to assist with the dungeon/quest. It will take them 30min. of their time and help you tremendously through the leveling process. After WW axe you'll feel like a God, cheers!
What addon is that for the character and enemy portrait? I would love to use it as well! And does the addon also show the debuffs of the enemy targeted like the hamstring and rend? Thanks 🙏🙏🙏🙏
For me my weapon progression goes like this on Horde Side: Large Axe, Thun'grims Axe, Axe of Orgrimmar, Zhovur Axe, Crescent Staff, Corpsemaker, Whirlwind Axe, Ravager after that theres different options u can go..Arcanite Reaper been the best of the non raid weapons.
You all prolly dont care at all but does anyone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot my password. I love any tricks you can give me
@Ryland Ethan I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Great video, the only thing I'll correct you on is leveling alchemy. Alchemy is like printing gold, it does not cost you anything, you can buy most mats and resell as pots and make a ton of gold easily while leveling up. I levelled alchemy on my rogue and had enough gold by 40 for my lvl 60 mount and I'm doing it again on my warrior currently in the fresh servers.
I see people always showing grinding spots where you farm beasts so you can skin them while grinding for more gold, but do you think grinding humanoids could be better? I tried searching this up but didn't find any answers. Cloth, Grey items, passive gold drop and higher chance of greens makes it seem like it could be good, any thoughts on this?
Fouren yeah, i think it could be viable but usually with humanoids, at least to me, it seems like they have higher damaging abilities, i could be wrong, but thats why i stay away from them
@@Atacas That may be true. I have noticed before that fighting humanoids seems to be more dangerous, but I bet there are some places with humanoid enemies that are not as dangerous as others. They tend to have abilites and be more grouped together, so I do see why it could be harder or not worth it. Could possibly just grind enemies 1-2 levels lower too. Was planning on picking herbalism instead of skinning, so thought it could be better to farm humanoids instead. I feel like whenever I do a quest involving killing humanoids I almost always get at least 1 green out of killing them, so the idea just popped up in my head. Great video btw!
Great video thanks, I've been a badly put together warrior for a while and this helped a lot. Wondering though, how do I get the player and enemy nameplates at the bottom of the screen like you have? Would make things way easier
Really good guide. I think fury until you get mortal strike is best though. Piercing howl for low leveling is king, can't remember how many times that talent has saved me from dying from bad pulls. Would it be possible for you to do a compilation of all the quests that awards really good spirit gear up until level 30-40 ish for horde/alliance? I have never tried to level with the spirit method but if i understand correctly you would even take a cloth piece rather than a mail if it had higher spirit. I suppose the ideal thing would be to have a set of spirit gear out of combat and then switch to agi/str gear when pulling. Cheers
jakhopp i can look into it, but I think most of the gear you get with spirit ends up being from random drops, but yes, you can have a set you use outside of combat, but its not entirely necessary, you still do comparable dps wearing the gear
My friend and I recently did the whirlwind axe quest as a 30 warrior and 30 priest, that shit was hard as hell. We had to log the priest off mid combat so he could relog and drink while the warrior hamstring kited lmao
Fury build with two hand is amazing. I almost gave up on leveling a warrior but once u hit level 20 and get cleave, u get to kill more than one mob at a time. So if youre a warrior and feeling dull pre-20, hang in there, it gets better. And it get even more better when u hit level 40 and get sweeping strike
So, my question is: why skinning over blacksmithing when you can make good auctions AND craft BiS items as well as recipes and more with Blacksmithing. It also saves you the gold later because you want need to buy items like Lionheart Helm. Pls answer, trying to decide professions.
@@gitner421 huh won't that be bad cuz you have to max a whole new profession? That's what I thought I would have to do though, it just seems illogical though.
Eonhunter you will be able to farm materials easier at higher level for blacksmithing. The time will even out in the long run. Good luck buying your 40 mount if u are wasting gold on leveling professions
I have levled a warrior 1-60 under 7 days /played. I can say it's pretty accurate video BUT keep in mind at lvl 55-56 i stop going for 60 until i have attument / preraid-bis for tank/dps. So when i reached 60 i was already geared for onyx/molt + maxed level. What i'm trying to say reaching level 60 asap ain't that important when the game is fresh.
Having lvl'd a warrior in vanilla I can honestly say I found it more enjoyable to level after I got a warlock to level 40. You can farm all the mats required for whirling axe and because you don't pay for a mount you can afford to buy a load of greens for early leveling - which on a warrior is just a god-send. Not to mention you should have at least 15-30g spare to put toward your warriors mount. If you level on a fresh server it's not gonna be so fun! Just my opinion, but you know what, the world will be buzzing with millions of old players back, do what makes you happy!
Enjoyed this though I'll be rolling Troll Mage. Would love to see a video for AOE grinding. Ideal classes and specs as well as grind spots and the mechanics involved. Seems like it would be viable even on a fresh server at the start simply because by the time you have the necessary skills things will have thinned out some.
That is definitely in the works, next on the list for me is a Rogue Speed leveling guide, but Mage seems to be in high demand as well, so I'll get that one together as soon as I'm done with Rogue :D
@@jean-michelnicolas9999 You raise a good point, but if you happen to be ahead of the pack you may be able to squeeze some in. The respawn rates might not support consistent AoE grinding, but the method for when you can AoE pull will remain the same.
also i would like to ask a question. Do you think it's worth it to take mining or herbalism when classic starts? will there be for example copper vein for everyone on the server for some time or it can be taken just by 1 player from the whole server?
Great question, they only way that they will have multiple nodes in the same location, available to multiple people, is if they do sharding, if they don’t do sharding then you will be fighting over nodes, but because smelting increases your mining level, mining is the way to go if you are going purely for money. I’m gonna make a video soon going over all of this in-depth, stay tuned!
Tauren should make sure to acquire the Goblin Smasher in Mulgore: classicdb.ch/?item=4964. If you do the quest in a group of 3 to 5 as its a killquest, you can easily do it as low as level 6-8 and it greatly increases your damage. Seeing how earlier in progression it is, chances are high as warrior that you won't be ahead of the curve yet.
Miss and dodge aren't the same thing. Missing won't proc overpower. Dodging has nothing to do with the weapon(s) you have. It's all down to luck of the enemy.
If you are ahead of the curve, you should farm green whelps in DWM. If you're really ahead you should grind them from like 35-40 or so, really boring, but god damn, you will have your mount at 40, + alot of quests to do then aswell. And with skinning and mining (lots of iron nodes there) you will make crazy money :)
Nice video. I was just about to change away from my warrior but looks like I have been doing some things wrong! Going to make some changes and grind it out, appreciate the help homie!
@@Atacas i dont know what u are talking about... im still doing it, the mobs catch up faster but if u just move in 1 direction and not back and forth like u did its doable.
Good guide, but some parts of it can misleading tho. You should not train Heroic Strike, cause the dmg increase with ranks is pathetic and you won't be really using it with hamstring-kite method. Also as soon as you get slam and talents for it in fury tree, this ability will compliment hamstring-kite method if used properly with a slow weapon. There is a lot more available weapons(and if you going to advertise hamstring method, then why put 2.7, 2.9 weapon speed in a guide???), for example Archeus from Mor'Ladim quest chain, which can be easily done with a group, cause everyone going to do it. Spirit works only if you stack it heavily. And if you are grinding on mobs and quests that are 2-4 levels lower than you(as you should), bandages will be mostly enough to regen your health between pulls. Although I must say that stacking spirit will be really good if you go for Sweeping Strikes and pull 2 mobs(but i recommend waiting for whirlwind ability, WW axe and executing this method only on mobs 2-3 level below you). Also don't be shy pulling 4 mobs and blowing your Retaliation every 30 minutes.
You raise a lot of good points, I don't believe any one way is perfect, but this is the way I prefer to do it, sure it has it flaws, but it has its strengths as well, thank you for your input!
Hey ! Great video, I learned a few things even tho I have played since Vanilla myself. As I have forgotten how to do it I'm curious for the moonwalk tip. How do you manage to run backwards in a straight line without right-clicking while strafing? Please please, big help if you can tell me
For the Horde Weapon Progression the Brute Hammer is not nearly as quickly aquired as the Crescent Staff Quest Item from wailing Caverns. A weapon with Int might seem weird for a Warrior, but it is the best you can get pretty much until the 2h Axe from RFK.
@@Atacas And here I though 'This simpleton is talking about a dungeon-reward when this guide is for solo-only'... Nice to prove myself a simpleton... :P The Cauldron Stirrer from The Crossroads is a very nice and easy upgrade though once you get into the Barrens. Not need to kill anything to get it. Just gather some Spores and then run to Thunder Buff.
Nice video. Warriors are so gear dependent that I would say it's worth it to venture into dungeons at least once to do the relevant quests. Many have 3-6 quests and thankfully warriors are always highly wanted to tank. Also, speaking of dungeons, don't forget that is your hearthstone is down, you can leave group and get hearthed out regardless. Sometimes it's faster to even invite some random guy, make him party leader, enter dungeon and then drop group than to run back or fly to the capital city.
5133937 they aren’t necessary for leveling, especially if you aren’t tanking dungeons, so not spending the money to upgrade them will help contribute to your mount at 40, after that you can start upgrading them if you feel you need them.
Hey Atacas, love this guide. My first roll was an Undead Warrior. Might go for a Tauren next time, or dare I say it... Roll the Alliance! (Unlikely). I'm really tempted to go healer this time, I hear Paladin / Flash Heal spam is the best / easiest class for this? Any suggestions? Thank you :) Subbed btw (y)

Anger Management is no doubt amazing and not a lot of people know about it. You got that and the spirit while leveling on the head. Another macro you should be using is an auto-attacking macro
Very true, I think that a lot of abilities on the retail client will cause your AA to start even if you don’t have the resource, but I could be wrong, and I figure that will be something that slides under the table with the new Classic client we get, but yes, definitely need start-attack macros for like every ability haha
I thought I'd also mention Staves here. Staves actually have really good DPS for their level a lot of the time, and if you cant get the weapons here for whatever reason it might be a good idea to try and get your hands on a staff. They often have Spirit and Stamina on them, making them decent choices for levelling.
Sleepy Two thank you! I do have some experience with Rogues and Mages, more so with Rogues so I’ll see what I can do, but I am definitely planning on doing a gathering profession guide soon!
deep arms low level is very nice imo. kill a solo mob for rage, pool at 70-90. pull 3 others hamstring, kite sweeping strikes and cleave them all down. easy money easy xp. fury overrated, although it IS better if you prefer pulling 1 mob at a time instead of multiple.
Hey atacas Im new in wow classic and i got a tank warrior my plan is to be able to tank in dungeons in early levels. But in this video ur saying to go with either arms or fury is it possible to go either way and to be a good tank with specing into protection??
The Cauldron Stirrer staff from a quest in the Barrens is much better then the starter warrior weapon quest and is achievable at lvl 10 even though its a lvl 15 quests
Yo! I was wondering is there anykind of hybrid build for vanilla tanking/dps fast leveling? I mean if i run some dungeons few times per level and rest of the time focusing on quests which build is most efficient? Totally aiming for 60lvl tanking spec full but the guestion is all about lvl 15-59. Appreciated ur effort for the information thank ya!
Hey man! Great question, honestly you don't need to spec into prot at all to tank efficiently while leveling, just go with the dps spec you feel most comfortable with and slap on a sword and board!
Question was already answered, but I'll touch upon it as well. If you're tanking dungeons while leveling at the appropriate level and such, I recommend arms highly. Arms has access to tactical mastery and 2% more parry. All of the weapon specializations help too as they apply to both 1 handed and 2 handed versions of weapons. Finally, sweeping strikes is no laughing matter for threat generation on multiple targets. If you are not dealing with PvP (which you lose anyway while leveling because warrior life), you can skip improved hamstring entirely. Agility is still your best stat, as it gives armor and good crit chance. Crits are huge bumps to threat and are a major help. I have to also mention that fury is just poor for tanking. The talents don't really realistically assist in your tanking. Blood Craze for example could never be relied upon for a significant amount of healing, and it requires you to be crit so you can't abuse it and enrage like you would while leveling by sitting down to get auto-crit. And while protection is obviously the best for tanking, it hurts you so much everywhere else that it isn't worth it. Arms gets sweeping strikes and tactical mastery early, so it's by far the best. At level 60 respec to a proper endgame spec such as dual wield fury or full prot for tanking.
@@Kaiyuni thank ya mate for clarifying answer. If i can ask one more thing: what kind of macros i should have for arms/prot warrior? Cuz there should be many of em in vanilla. Thing is i used to play as rogue from 2005 to 2010 so not sure about best macros for warrior.
I like the vid. I think it would be cool if you added preferred mobs to kill and preferred mobs to avoid, quests to go out of the way to do vs quests to avoid as a warrior. Maybe even a leveling route best suited for solo war leveling.
Here in 2024: There's a lot of people tanking dungeons as pure arms or fury. I don't know if I'll spend the entire time grinding dungeons or if I'll do some hybrid play, but dungeons are of course always good sources of decent weapons. You can even tank low level dungeons with 2H weapons because threat is more of an issue than survival. Of course a level 60 decently geared Prot Warrior will have no problem with either.

Strength is almost useless while you are leveling since most of your dmg
comes from your weapon anyways so the stat priority i recommend is
agility > stamina > strength.
@@Atacas just some constructive critisism.

I use a macro that switches back and forth from Battle stance to Defensive stance, while equipping the appropriate items, indefinitely.
/cast battle stance
/eq (weapon name)
/cast defensive stance
/eq (shield name)
/eq (weapon name)
To insert the name of the items just shift click on that item when you are typing in the macro window.

I was expecting you to talk about executioner's blade.Great tips I would love if you could talk a bit more about weapons, and maybe some vendor limited ones but I suppose you priorities gold for the mount.Keep up the good work!
Burianek Johann thank you! Yeah this video was purely about spending the least amount of gold you can while leveling as quickly as possible too, maybe in the future I’ll go over other weapon choices that take a bit longer to get
really awesome guide thank you and for showing us how the Hamstring Method is done.
13:35 pro tip from me: use battle shout
Thanks 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This is an excellent guide mate, great layout and good pace
KentuckyFriedGardo thank you!
For me my weapon progression goes like this on Horde Side: Large Axe, Thun'grims Axe, Axe of Orgrimmar, Zhovur Axe, Crescent Staff, Corpsemaker, Whirlwind Axe, Ravager after that theres different options u can go..Arcanite Reaper been the best of the non raid weapons.
i assume u already got a prebis blue or raid weapon by now but if not, go for it

You made the video! Nice job, dude.
JKL thank you! I’m gonna keep bringing content out so stay tuned!
skinning market is going to be extremely bloated so i'm glad you said for vending it
Great video, the only thing I'll correct you on is leveling alchemy.
Fouren thanks brother!
Where did cauldron stick at lvl 10 go for horde ?
Awesome video man! Never knew about that mob pulling trick either, so thanks for that tip!
It's no problem at all! Working on another video as we speak, stay tuned!
That's a really great vid, I'm just wondering though....
Can you tank SFK? We can summon.
Hahaha I love it! Glad you caught that!
Great video thanks, I've been a badly put together warrior for a while and this helped a lot. Wondering though, how do I get the player and enemy nameplates at the bottom of the screen like you have? Would make things way easier
what about gear from dungeons? Huge part of the game. You can get the staff from wc just from doing it once as a warr at lv 18 and it's 20 dps
Longtimer49 honcrap haha that sounds epic though!
You just drop skinning and pick up BS at 60
@@gitner421 huh won't that be bad cuz you have to max a whole new profession? That's what I thought I would have to do though, it just seems illogical though.
Eonhunter you will be able to farm materials easier at higher level for blacksmithing. The time will even out in the long run. Good luck buying your 40 mount if u are wasting gold on leveling professions
@@gitner421 yo thanks man
This is a great guide, short and concise with helpful tips. Well done.
What did you do more of questing or killing mobs. Or a little bit of both
Think you can go into detail more about this?
Starting weapon should be fishing pole
Fishing Pole have 1.0 dmg ?
I prefer a skinning knife
Why i cant use two hand weapon sword?in lvl 9?
What's the name of the addon that changes the look of player and enemy healthbars that you are using?
There won't be AOE leveling on a fresh server : too many people for too few mobs. Private servers have mobs repop completely wrong.
@@jean-michelnicolas9999 You raise a good point, but if you happen to be ahead of the pack you may be able to squeeze some in. The respawn rates might not support consistent AoE grinding, but the method for when you can AoE pull will remain the same.
Is it possible to level just as quickly as a full prot build if you have ready, premade dungeon groups?
Great video, well done!
also i would like to ask a question.
Hamstring method is great but more often than not early on a bunch of mobs have a CC or are ranged. So I end up face tanking half the mobs.
Joe Darling yeah unfortunately it doesn’t work for every mob, but its great for the ones it does work for!
What about 5/5 Pary get more Overpower procs and Spirit Gear? No good? I think it has its value too while leveling up.
Tauren should make sure to acquire the Goblin Smasher in Mulgore: classicdb.ch/?item=4964.
If you do the quest in a group of 3 to 5 as its a killquest, you can easily do it as low as level 6-8 and it greatly increases your damage.
Seeing how earlier in progression it is, chances are high as warrior that you won't be ahead of the curve yet.
good guide what do you think about duel wielding and utilizing the higher dodge/miss rate on the offhand with over power
Miss and dodge aren't the same thing. Missing won't proc overpower. Dodging has nothing to do with the weapon(s) you have. It's all down to luck of the enemy.
you did great job! very very good video for a new warrior.
Christian Johansson thank you! Great tip!

No problem brother, hamstring kiting isn't a thing anymore though with mob lee way so dont try to do that lol
@@Atacas i dont know what u are talking about... im still doing it, the mobs catch up faster but if u just move in 1 direction and not back and forth like u did its doable.
@@Atacas obviously not as effective, but if ur weapon sucks, it still saves ur life haha
Rejhan Puskar oh yeah, im not saying its not possible, just not worth the hassle in my opinion
Thanks for the guide : )
Can I ask why no staff of westfall?

Is hamstring kiting still worth it with leeway? i didnt know about the pulling method though going to save quite a few deaths cheers
Perks Place unfortunately its not worth at all with the way leeway works /:
Nathaniel Apgar damn right!
For the Horde Weapon Progression the Brute Hammer is not nearly as quickly aquired as the Crescent Staff Quest Item from wailing Caverns. A weapon with Int might seem weird for a Warrior, but it is the best you can get pretty much until the 2h Axe from RFK.
Hendrik Gerard van Elven those weapons are definitely good, but this is geared around not doing dungeons :)
@@Atacas And here I though 'This simpleton is talking about a dungeon-reward when this guide is for solo-only'...
Nice to prove myself a simpleton... :P
The Cauldron Stirrer from The Crossroads is a very nice and easy upgrade though once you get into the Barrens.
Not need to kill anything to get it. Just gather some Spores and then run to Thunder Buff.
great video!
Why not get higher ranks of Revenge, Sunder Armor and Slam? Those seem like frequently used abilities, and Revenge is pretty damaging iirc.
(Unlikely). I wondered if you had plans to do any more of these guides? I see you have Warrior and Rogue, and haven't looked further enough, but do you have the likes of Mage, Paladin or Priest maybe? I'm really tempted to go healer this time, I hear Paladin / Flash Heal spam is the best / easiest class for this? Any suggestions? Thank you :) Subbed btw (y)
PS just found the Mage one lol thanks.

@@Atacas Nice one that's great, appreciate all the effort that goes into them! :) You'll need to let me know what server you plan on joining closer to the time, wouldn't mind joining your guild assuming you'll have one, seem very knowledgeable about the game! :) I much prefer PVE.
They often have Spirit and Stamina on them, making them decent choices for levelling.

deep arms low level is very nice imo. kill a solo mob for rage, pool at 70-90. pull 3 others hamstring, kite sweeping strikes and cleave them all down. easy money easy xp. fury overrated, although it IS better if you prefer pulling 1 mob at a time instead of multiple.

Hey atacas
Im new in wow classic and i got a tank warrior my plan is to be able to tank in dungeons in early levels. But in this video ur saying to go with either arms or fury is it possible to go either way and to be a good tank with specing into protection??
While leveling, you can tank in either. Prot is basically useless until geared at max. Only important thing in tanking while leveling is a shield.
when is classic coming?
x SAPHIRIX I wish I knew brother :P

What UI are you using?
Aight thanks bro!
@@sigurdless No problem man!
For alliance def go Deadmines. The legs from the Van Cleef quest and the Axe from the goblin shredder or Smites hammer is worth it.
I like the vid. I think it would be cool if you added preferred mobs to kill and preferred mobs to avoid, quests to go out of the way to do vs quests to avoid as a warrior. Maybe even a leveling route best suited for solo war leveling.
With lvl 30 you can get Whirlwind. And I used Troll's Blood for passive heal while leveling. So I could go for Strength instead and kill stuff.
Of course a level 60 decently geared Prot Warrior will have no problem with either.
great video Atacas! , could we get one for mage and rogue :D
