- Mitte April 2014 verbrachten wir eine Woche am Brennerpass um dort den Alptransitverkehr festzuhalten. Am 18. April 2014 verbrachten wir einen Abend im verschneiten Bahnhof Brenner.

Excellent! There obviously is a lot of freight traffic through Brenner, is this a crew change point? there also seems to be switching done here, do they reclassify some of the trains here? Daumen Hoch!
Yes, it's the border between Austria & Italy, and as they use different electrification systems they change locos there and so on.

but there are also some " Mehrsystemloks", which can work with austrian and italien electrification Systems and which go through.
It was interesting to see heavy trains with only one lok in contrary to trains with 3 loks. I think it's because the" Brenner" is the high mountain pass between north- and south- europe the trains with 3 loks came uphill, whereas the 1 lok trains went downhill.
Volker Koenig interesting, I would have thought they would have needed 2 or 3 loks going down the grade for dynamic braking effort
