- It's hard to believe, but the 5 Years of Mario Maker celebration has begun! Today we are looking at several of the levels that were featured in Week #1 of the 5YMM celebration! Due to time constraints, not every level of week 1 was able to be showcased, however they ALL should be played and they are all highly recommended by me!!

The Cosmic Compass Level is definitely one of my favourite puzzle levels, its just so creative! :D
I do feel like something could be done for the very first part to make it a bit easier to figure out while in the level (have to keep in mind also if someone gets that level in an endless, they wont even see the description either), panga was similarly confused on the first part too

For anyone wondering about why is 5 and not 6, i found this on the reedit page:
"When the second game was announced, there wasn't enough time between the release and the actual anniversary to collaborate (three months). So 4YMM was pushed to the first anniversary of Mario Maker 2. 5YMM starts kinda inbetween the second anniversary of MM2 and the sixth anniversary of MM1. So yes, it's a bit of a mess, but who knows. Maybe the stars will align once again?"

@@misterchef2107, yeah, it does! It's also funny how the SMB 1 castle music is full of rapid notes, which makes random sounds sync with that music very easily.

Grakowsky's level in 4YMM was the best as well (the level with mechakoopas and a machine spitting out different objects depending on what you put in)

the most impressive thing about that music level is that the music was on a perfect loop... that's hard to do with editing software...

That level with the 2 spineys was amazing and as for the small cake within it, I think maybe your editor Dave should get this one for always making these yt videos bite-sized enough to enjoy on a daily basis.

Been a while since I’ve played Mario Maker, but these are some crazy cool gimmicks.
I saw this live! It was awesome!
These were all good, fabulous job by the creators, its nice to actually see levels designed with entertainment in mind instead of the usual "how can i make this level as annoying as possible and impossible to clear" mindset.
Cosmic Compass: in the second room, in the 5YMM, you’ll notice that there are blue blocks. Go in the crevasse. When you see the stars line up with the blue blocks, eat some cake :)

I always get confused of why this isn't 6YMM instead, since SMM1 released on September 2015, not 2016.
It's 5 years and 11 month since SMM1 came out and maybe they don't care about the month? In 2019 there was no celebration for some reason.

@@pumajlr In other words, they missed out a full year of celebrating the SMM anniversary in 2019, because SMM2 was released on June 28th 2019, while SMM1's 4th anniversary was on September 13th 2019?
I guess that makes sense then, but hope it will resolve to the correct year.
32:12 whenever either you find the cake when the event is already over or you don't find it before you get the flagpole the first time, i just asume the cake became old
EDIT: you found a cake jackpot & but because it was not before getting the flagpole i guess that all atleast 10 cakes became old so OOF
Other cakes: first level: when the lava fully goes down in the cp room, jump into the hole and hold b. You’ll get a key safely. Then wall jump to the pipe, enter back, and proceed backwards to the first section

As you know 1 up mushrooms are without a clear condition useless in most game modes, so what i do to give them sorta a reason to collect them is by using them as "collectables"

How RBC did that Wooden Block Galaxy level is how I want every music level to be... notice how the tracks make it so that the level's music remains continuous there is no music stop at the last screen of the level.
The gap through pipes is MUCH worse…
