I've commented on a few of your videos but I don't think I ever said this. Thank you for your videos you do, you have helped someone with severe mental health problems pick up the courage to actually join a local team and I'm really enjoying it. You've helped me in my game with techniques you've shared. Keep up the good work pal and I will always enjoy seeing your future posts 👍
😍 Thank you so much for that comment that means a lot. I'm so glad you've been encouraged enough to put yourself out there, I hope its working out well for you. Thank you for watching, it means a lot 👍🎯
I run a small group on face book called the russ bray app group, we use the russ bray app to play online and the group to find new opponents and share 180s and high checkouts, ive shared quite a few of your videos on that group as I find them useful and hopefully other people too 👍
Thank you mate, I appreciate that. It means a lot when people share it to their friends as that way its not just me forcing it on everyone. Cheers for doing that 👍🎯
Totally agree with this, Bryn. In the round robin my team had a couple of weeks back where we all used our opponents darts in each match there were some pretty impressive darts thrown....a few 180's and a handful of 100+ finishes. I think that proved it to me as well!
Cheers mate, yeah for sure. There would be minor adjustments to throw and trajectory etc but I'd be pretty confident with most sets and combinations given time 👍🎯
Great video mate, I think you can throw any darts as long as you take the time to get used to them as Dynamite Dave says it’s all in the mechanics of your technique. I’ve thrown a lot of different darts now and can throw half decent with them. I think the set up has to be right, you were smart about changing the flights and stems to counter weight of barrel.
Thanks bud. Agree. I think if I was in the pub and someone challenged me to a game, I'd give them a good game no matter the darts, and with little adjustments I think I could make most sets work for me. 👍🎯
You prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost my password. I love any help you can offer me!
@Lawson Karsyn I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
You said this was a nothing video, but I would disagree with that. I find it interesting as I’m going through that stage of use darts for a week or two and if my average hasn’t gone up they go on eBay. I’m really trying to stick with one set up and use the practice videos from your channel. I’ve already bought a job lot of the same stems and flights, I just need to stick with the same weight and barrel. This shows that consistency and practice can set you up to pretty much play with anything (with in reason). I’m looking forward to some more game vlogs. Awesome job. 👍🎯
Thank you mate. Yes that's a good move, lots of the same flights and stems and stick with them! Are you out playing competitively again yet or still not much public darts?
No, not playing competitively yet. There has been an increase in Covid-19 cases in my area, so I don’t think we’re going to be back on it any time soon. Just means I get more practice. 👍🎯
You say "this is a bit of a nothing video" but I loved watching, and I think it's a subject that's absolutely fundamental to darts playing. Darts is much more about what's in your head, than what's in your hand. And while we're on the subject of psychological effects (well I am anyway), I'd love to see a video about the speed effects of different flight shapes. I often see it quoted "they fly faster through the air with slim flights" but is it true or just a psychological effect? You'd need a high speed camera or something to find out properly, but I'd love to see a video that investigated this. Big lol at the Trump clips by the way!
Hi mate, thank you. Agree. It would take some technical changes to throw these as well as I could but I'm sure if I had the inclination it would be doable. Matt Edgar did a great video on that, the effect of different flights and entry angles etc and I don't think I'd be able to do it any better than he did, so may be worth checking that video out on Edgar TV 👍🎯
Interesting video. I also think psychology comes into play in form of sympathising with a set of darts. If you really like your darts (even if it is just the name or the colour) you may tend to trust them more. Thus you throw with a little extra confidence, and that alone can make a difference. Whereas when you are nit liking a set, you tend to believe that you will not hit and finally lose and it becomes self-fulfilling prophecy. Another aspect could be the ability to figure out, what adjustments to make in your throw, when realizing a different set of darts behaves strage. Player One may be quickly making the right changes, whereas player Two really struggles since he just can't figure out how to adjust. I am constantly rotating between my 18g straight barrels, my 21g Dennis Priestleys and my 23 g straights and looking at my statistics, I can say that I really managed to be as bad with any set of darts.
Great point. There is a lot to do with psychology, if you are enthusiastic about a new set and want to make them work then I'm sure you're more likely to get up to speed quicker than if you were handed a random set you didn't want! 👍🎯
Cheers mate, it went better than I anticipated, so much so that I stopped after 2 games as I didn't want to get carried away and make a rash decision about my setup moving forwards haha
I used kite flights for a long time, and also large standards too for a period, at their best I played well with both. Never thrown much with pears apart from one mate who had a set of Phil Taylor's and I found them really tough
Great video. As someone relatively new to darts, I have tried several sets to see what fits/feels the best to me. I have found that I like a longer barrel, 52-55, 6-6.5 diameter, with a good bit of grip, I would love to know more about the balance of darts. Front, center, even, rear, weighted. How it affects the flight of the dart. If you are a front, middle, or rear grip thrower is one type of weight balance better than the other etc.
Darts Class one year this month. Got in a league, after the first 3 months or so of being around & learning a bit from other players I began to really get into it & started trying to actually learn to play. I’m completely in love with it. Wish I had started years ago.
Thank you Bryn. Arrived home yesterday and managed to watch some videos from yourself, Neils Darts, Dynamite Dave, Love Darts and Wolfdarts TV. Final count of videos to catch up with is 863 😂😂 Hopefully I’ll get my first throw today and yes I will video it, I’ll allow myself 6 darts at the board then I’ll play a game of 501. Today will be 108 days since I last threw a dart so I’m sure it will be a painful watch 😂😂😂🎯👍🏻
Think it’s the player I often switch darts if playing badly and often helps. Think it’s in the mind. Tho I will say always same weight. I don’t think I could pick up a light dart and throw them well as I’ve tried them in past and couldn’t adjust to them I like a heavy dart for my throw. So suppose I’d say any dart as in shape but not any weight so there is a curve ball to the debate
Hiya mate i was just wondering if you could make a quick video on tips on how to work out outshots quickly in a match. Top video as always mate been watching your channel since i started playing around two month ago Cheers
Hey Tom, yeah good idea for a video. I'll have to think about how I can describe my method of doing the mental arithmetic during a match. Most of it is preparation before the shot. And most importantly what a slip into the neighbouring sections will leave me too so I know where to switch to straight away without having to interrupt my rhythm etc. But if I can figure out a way to verbalise it I'll def do a video 👍🎯
Nice video like mr miagee I think the dart chooses u different darts suit different grips and when u find d rite ones and your head thinks they are theyl work better by different darts I mean straight barrel, torpedo or bomber
You need to play say 30 legs or more in a row to compare against your favoured darts after doing the same with them, 4 or 6 legs is not enough to make any real conclusions. The computer when set at a certain level say 76 avg does not really presssure you either as it doesnt hit 180s or 140s at a crucial time to put pressure on your out shots. Different darts give diffent lies in the board and under pressure against a good player that suddenly hits big scores at crucial moments instead of a computer that averages around 76 much of the time, there is no comparison as when nerves kick in then so do throw errors under pressure. if the dart is not right for you then the mistakes will be magnified when you are pressured. When under no pressure it is easier to throw any dart.
I normally play with a set of 23g red dragon razor edges, I bought a set of 22g phase barney's and played a league night with those after a fair amount of practice and struggled to hit anything decent, changed back to the red dragons for the last two games and consistently hit decent scores,so im sure its just a mental thing🤔
Yeah I agree I think there's so much psychology involved in it. It you have the confidence to make a new set work and adapt then most sets should work for most players 👍🎯
I saw this post earlier and I put it to the test and its all the player cuz i threw a 22g straight barrel 25g tapered barrel and a 32 chunky short barrel and threw em all the same
What are your thought on players that buy a new set of darts and play well the first night with them. Could it be because they dont know what to expect and dont think about how much they like or dislike the barrel. They just get up and throw, usually well.
I think the psychology of the player is almost as important as their ability to quickly adapt to a new set. Therefore a player who can take a new set, but is confident and enthusiastic about both the new darts and their own ability might well be able to throw well very quickly 👍🎯
Never seen anyone in my dart league use knurled darts for years. How long have you been using them? Look a really nice set of darts by pics on Red Dragon. Enjoyed the video
Cheers Tristan. I've been using these on and off for a while but committed myself to them in April and stuck with them since. I used to use Harrow torpedos that had semi knurled grip, I've always liked the extra grip 👍🎯
Give me a dart with a black point or any sort of grip on it and I'll be able to throw most of them, give me the set I have used for years with a plain silver point and I won't be able to hit the board.
I love playing dart in my friend house because i dont have one..i hope you have a old dart board and pin that you can lend to me so i can play and practice more in my own house..i cant afford to buy cause it cost to much here in philippines
I was a 23ppd 2.4 mpr player and got front loaded darts and in 2 weeks I was a 28 3.0 and 8 months progress I'm a 31ppd and 3.3

Is there any different between your dart (robert thornton dart) and winmau saracen 24 grams?just asking,huhu..😅...
I've never used the saracens but looking at them online they look very similar yes 👍🎯

@@DartsClass haha I just done that with pear flights not actually averaging any more than I was but feels more comfortable and smooth in my throw

It's a little of both the player and the darts
