@RABBITANDSNAIL I would watch it but no longer have a DVD player or tv. Watch online on a tablet now. He great if you could get Amazon prime to put the 3 films to buy on their platform though. I would buy all 3 immediately.
I must admit, I've never been a massive fan of the actual TV series, but the films are on another level! I think all three of them are absolutely brilliant. Lovely to see Stephen Lewis talking as himself too!
I miss programmes like this, when families would watch together, the telly these days is absolutely rubbish, thankfully they still put the carry on films on
Same here, I watch all of the movies over Christmas when I am cooking the dinners. Been doing this for years, glass of something strong at hand the whole time, love it!
When Anna died in 2022 the realisation of a great era came to an end bought tears to my eyes but fear not, my mum has always been likened to Olive from her very young days due to the glasses she wore while I was just a baby. I look back on that photograph sometimes with my mum and can't help but still taunt her with an "Oh! Arthur!" with a good telling off from her. 🤣God bless all the cast and crew who have passed, they will be sorely missed but never forgotten, not while I'm still around xx
@@212MPHI'm in my 30s and grew up with comedies like this and many others from the 60s, 70s and 80s. And so did many, many others of my age group so what you are saying is daft to an extent and ignorant to an extent
on the buses was my childhood loved every episode every series and those films were so funny many thanks to all the stars and hammer for bringing us and me so much fun into our lives
The first film, "On The Buses," was released in 1971, the same year as Sir Sean Connery' return to the 007 role in; "Diamonds Are Forever." "On The Buses" took more money than Bond that year. I believe "On The Buses" was the highest grossing film in the UK for that year.
Gosh it has just occurred to me how much safer and better-behaved people were “on the buses” when we had Bus Conductors constantly walking up and down the aisles keeping an eye on things….Let’s start a Bring Back The Bus Conductor campaign and petition!!😊😊
Not just "keeping an eye"! They were employed to collect cash , money! From passengers who were trusted to pay him or her. Now the driver sits in a little fortress and the money into a sealed vault which even then were smashed and grabbed occasionally. Extremely different times, the brief era of an almost decent, civilised society came and went.
Classic comedy that dare I say it only the British could really get, our humour is second to none, that is not having a dig at other nations it is just the way I see things.
I still stand and look at the large photo of Reg Varney using the world's first cashpoint outside Barclays in Enfield despite it being part of the street scene. Lovely❤
OTB ,thank you so much for all the great Tv shows and follow up films, that you gave us in the great days of proper British Comedy. RIP all you great stars who brought laughter into many British hearts. God Bless you all!
Sunday evenings in the 70s was On the Buses night. It's still my favourite comedy and a reminder of how this country has become a depressing place to live.
Excellent vlog. I was born in Liverpool 1969 never really saw the TV show but got to watch the movies in the early 80s. I went to the Pontins in the early 80s going on the boating lake, in the swimming baths and going the beach were the bus got stranded and remember my mum saying about the 3rd movie being filmed there. Sadly like all the Pontins it is closed down. I know there was a plaque on the front gates saying about Holiday on the buses being filmed there, I went to wales few years ago drove past the camp and saw the plaque. I bet that has now gone.
It's a comfort getting to see this reunion report today , recognising the moments from television I gather ten years later or so. Other televised comedy on the same flow come to minds eye such as Toen was geluk heel gewoon ( busdriver household Rotterdam ) and Koot & Bie , and the Marseille gendarmerie with Louis de Funes. Dad's army. Life was good.
Such happy times for us oldies they were brilliant actors and characters people quote the "good old days" and that's true in my opinion I'm in my late 60s and enjoyed the 70s so much but life goes on I enjoyed 80s music 90s that's were the rot set in its now a mad rat race, on the buses and carry on films just make you feel good with endless laughter but glad to see youngsters enjoying great timeless comedy...
Great video as always guys but can we finally get the feature length documentary put onto dvd as originally intended several years ago now please so we can have it to keep and treasure.
The actor that plays Blakey looks nothing like him in real life. It is incredible how he can change his face for the character. Olive is the same great character acting. I didn't realise how talented the cast was.
I find it difficult to get these films on prime or Netflix which is a shame. I can only s rent the original film but not buy and not even that for the others. I loved On The Buses as a kid but after the films it really did get a bit dire. Poor story lines and Reg wasn't even in it. Those I wouldn't watch again. We used to holiday at Pontins and lived very close to Windsor safari park so that made the films better to watch. No more films like that now or like the Carry ons again great because I lived even nearer to Pinewood so I can watch the older ones of those and recognise t.he roads plus my family knew Sid James. I suppose we can still watch most when available to buy . Some Like Reg were variety actors that just don't exist anymore. Great video to watch though . Fond memories !
To the people who didn't want to put up a budget to get this up and going ,Hear this it's now 2025 and it's still one of the best film on TV ,Big mistake so don't take credit, Others normal hard working people made this work,
Well, Being a fan of on The Buses, I enjoyed this Documentary , WYE Bob was not mentioned a bit sad, I have all three films, & it was in to know Reg Varne Daughter was playing a part aswell, & Now we all know the Bus that was sinking in Holiday on the Buses was wood.? I often wonder how they did that seen , Now I know 😋 We all know, Anyway, Sadly Anna Karon passed away 2022 the last member of the Cast. God bless you Anna, & Rest of the Cast , God bless you all, Sadly Missed, ❤❤❤ ❤
@Jeremy-y1t is it ? Well you state why ? An you state who did and when It was a publicity stunt by the bank an he was well known and loved at the time So....
at some point in the series we have a RM doing a skid test. If I remember correctly that was actually a real skid test, using a real RM bus, on a skid pan, used to certify the model for service. Yes, it passed. RM’s were in service for what? 50 + years?
Absoluteley brilliant comedy. Goes to show you that you dont have to swear and curse or make sexual inuendoes to get a laugh. All the series was never one swear word.
Everybody misses on the buses because it's part of everyday life watching on the buses at red varnish and Jack red bonnie red bonnie r pictures of the question regarding Dan buckley's character stand Stan booker bushman family on the buses Dan booker Stan Alan Jack luxem bus station loxton everyone respects the bus drama on the buses to come on the buses with Jack and Stan best friends
in the bit where the 2 blokes were talking about holiday on the buses about reg going under the bridge the bloke on the left said the bus lost its roof going under the bridge that was wrong as the decker was already open-top
I grew up in the 1960s-70s and loved a lot of the TV series, programmes like Rising Damp and Steptoe & Son and Dick Emery and Fawlty Towers are undoubtedly the best ever British TV,but I have to say I never liked this one very much, the two main characters Reg Varney and Bob wotsisname with the teeth just weren’t very likeable. But on the other hand I did love the sketches involving poor old Olive and the cranky old Bus Inspector were very good
On The Buses is constantly repeated over here, last IIRC on Comedy Central, usually followed by The Benny Hill Show, which is ironic considering Benny was Reg's straight man on stage in the late 40's before he went to TV.
I grew up on the movies and found the TV series a bit disappointing. I have the DVD boxset of the movies. I do find it amusing now that Stan & Jack are meant to be attractive to much younger, hot women lol Still adore those movies though 👍🏻
Nowadays it is very dated and sexist. It wouldn't see the light of day in today's schedules. Bob Grant who played Jack Harper, the leery conductor never had regular work after OTB ended'. Mounting debts and no work led to him making a 3rd and final suicide attempt in 2003. Typecasting can be deadly if you are unable to break free of a particular character.

Definitely.
I watched all three movies at the cinema in my local Odeon. All three screenings were packed
I must admit, I've never been a massive fan of the actual TV series, but the films are on another level! I think all three of them are absolutely brilliant. Lovely to see Stephen Lewis talking as himself too!

i agree completely wench 64
It's all reality tv these days unfortunately, very little comedy on sadly.
To be fair there is some good programmes on these days but nothing that’s as good as there was when this was on
How wright you are. To day there is so much rubish. 😊
It was unfunny and racist, like the awful "Carry On" films.
2024 and I still watch "On the Busses".
Me too!
Its a cult classic. Its even better now !
Same here, I watch all of the movies over Christmas when I am cooking the dinners. Been doing this for years, glass of something strong at hand the whole time, love it!
OTB will never die due to the, script, actors & locations. Even younger generations like it, thanks to everyone that made OTB possible. 👏🏾👏🏾

Stephen lives on in last of the summer wine
Brilliant series and movies
On the buses was the best comedy evermade and the movies are brilliant
On the Buses and the films were the greatest of all the old comedies - RIP the fantastic cast.
Ooh He must be a knicker snatcher!. Yes. I think I've seen his picture in the Sunday Paper. The actress who says these lines is Reg Varneys Daughter.
kids today have missed out on such great sitcoms. Especially on the buses
No. Kids today live in a society where great comedies like OTB would never be allowed today.

Truly wonderful scripts by the Ronnie's... a remarkable programme loved 50 years on
When comedy was comedy and the whole family could sit down and have a laugh together with no vulgarity in it. God rest them all who were involved
on the buses was my childhood loved every episode every series and those films were so funny many thanks to all the stars and hammer for bringing us and me so much fun into our lives
Please bring out this on the Buses at the movie dvd.
I miss the days when talented and funny people made comedies that people loved to watch.
"Do you want a lard sandwich Arthur?" 😂 Olive was awesome
I have all 3 spin off films of on the buses and I love them
One of the best tv shows ever made
Yeah, we love on the busses here, New Zealand.

Could listen to Stephen and Anna talking all day👍

Good old fashioned fun! Loved the 3 films! Good to hear the casts memories and fun they had filming 👍
I used to watch this and Are you being Served with my Dad. Great memories!
I still stand and look at the large photo of Reg Varney using the world's first cashpoint outside Barclays in Enfield despite it being part of the street scene. Lovely❤

A lovely documentary, thank you for uploading! 🙂👍
Micheal Robbins was brilliant in many things, Stephen Lewis was great too
Fantastic thanks I really enjoyed this documentary
Holiday On The Buses is the best tv spinoff film. It’s also one of the funniest films of the 70’s.
fabulous documentary, lovely recording too
This country used to have a soul
Its just decent family friendly silly humour. I wish those days would come back.
It was sexist and very racist.
Good documentary
I enjoyed that

Very popular in Canada.
Filming 8am to 9 pm doesnt sound much fun as it appears 😂😂😂 funny though
Michael Robbins was by far the best in this brilliant actor wasted
He wasn't 'wasted ', he played the role extremely well .
If they ever made OTBs again it wouldn't be the same. It be too waterd down couldn't get away with all the old stuff.
Absoluteley brilliant comedy. Goes to show you that you dont have to swear and curse or make sexual inuendoes to get a laugh. All the series was never one swear word.
There was constant sexual innunedo.
How come there's no Bob Grant?
