great lesson! crystal clear. interesting wrinkle in bridge - d to d sus. more tom petty! when you can. hey also dig your chapter headings so we can skip around & i didn’t notice till end the column w lyrics. v cool!
I have always loved this song! This was so much easier than I thought it would be. The bridge transition is stumbling me up a bit, but the rest sounds great while I'm playing along. Great song to follow up the power chord lessons I did in your Rock Guitar System today! Also that FCS Tele tone sounds so sweet on this song! Super fun lessons today. Thanks Jon!
Rock on! Yes this is such a fun one to play. The bridge is where it starts to get a little harder for sure with the rhythms, and bar chords. I would suggest counting the rhythms out loud like I do in the video. That way you know what beats you are strumming on. Also since your are in the Rock Guitar System check out the section on bar chords and you'll see some of my top tricks for playing bar chords effortlessly. This is a perfect song to pair with the rock course though. Keep up the great work Matt and thanks for being here!
@@jonmaclennan I'm starting to post a couple riff practice sessions on my page. Rough recordings just through my iphone. It helped me to fix a couple pick hand bad habits I had picked up though. Another great tip that has really helped. I'm going to hit the bar chords section today!
Good lad hurray one I can have ago at going in the Book right now you know your always looking for ideas on videos what about a video on a cheap acoustic guitar like a Amazon special or a cheap electric amazon special just to show it's still possible to play the songs even on low end guitars they do need a little tweaking and better strings but it is achievable I know others have covered it but you have not just yet top lesson love it your a star
You're welcome John! I made a video like that awhile ago comparing a $200 guitar vs a $5200 guitar you can see it here: ruclips.net/video/uykkbdmMC4E/видео.html How much you spend on a guitar doesn't equal it's sound quality. I've played some incredible squiers and cheaper guitars that sounded better than expensive ones. I actually recommend Squires for electrics and Yamaha's for acoustic in the entry level price range.
@@jonmaclennan still saving again for a new Yamaha f310 had the money and per something came up and took the money so had to start again I will watch the video later I like watching them sort of video a fender I would love one but that is a distant dream so that's why I like them sort of videos always tips and tricks to get them to sound what do you think of brass strings tried them and was not impressed change back asap

A really beginner friendly rock song!
100 percent!
Wasn't recorded by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. It's off a solo album of Tom's.
Not a heartbreakers album it’s a Tom petty solo album, just saying
Not the heartbreakers. On a solo album.
Too slow
I plsce this in the key of E......I lost my capo 😆 plus I can actually sing it well in this key 🔑
