Can we get a petition for GeekyGlasses to go on that Screen Junkie's Movie Fights?

+Jack Rae Haha! Wow. It's both comforting and intimidating that you have that much faith me. I don't think I'm big enough for that yet.

+GeekyGlassesTV ya, you're not that big because you're not that stupid. While most of the screen junkies crew and friemds-youtubers tend only to scream about PLOTpoints and how they are "stupid" or "cool", you, for one, actually analize THE STORY, wich make your take on movie discussion so much smarter and enjoyable. Fact is a lot of people would rather spend their time laughing at their friend with a beer while he's doing some nonsence and speak jiberish a child would say instead of turning their brains on for a second and listening to the smart guy in the room.

I recently watched this film and, since you do have a background of sorts in video games, I was really hoping you would cover this film. And I'm really glad that you did, because you've summed it up perfectly. I left the theatre thinking "Man that 5 minutes of 47 being depicted as a relentless horror villain was good (up until that interview like you said, I felt the same way but couldn't quite put my finger on it)" but I just forgot the rest because it was just...meh.
Nice review, looking forward to more videos from you!

+Mastersan300 Thanks for the kind words :) Hoping to have another video out over the weekend depending if I can find the time over the bank holiday.

Subdermal armor reminded me of an upgrade in Fallout 2. Where you had to use a suit of body armor and trust a shady surgeon with an autodoc to insert armor plates under the skin. It does make you considerably more durable, but it comes at a cost. It gives you a more "blocky"appearance, decreasing your Charisma with 2 points.
I realize this has very little to do with the actual movie.

+Khuratokh subdermal plating was one of my favourite implants in CP2020, so I was stoked to see it turn up in Fallout 2

In all honesty a hitman movie should be a anthology film, different stories with different targets. We follow them during time 47 is going after them, like we we don't see 47 and we get hints for what they did. Just give us good dialogue as 47 makes his way to the victim and have the last story happen in 47's perspective

+slayertakim1 Would make a great web series setup like that.

I can't believe that they even got the same screenwriter as they did with the last Hitman movie , which really wasn't very good as well. If you want a better movie than the last one why would you get the same man to write it? who by the way also wrote X-Men Origins: Wolverine and A Good Day to Die Hard. WTF were they thinking?!

    • @MrDe4dGuy34
      @MrDe4dGuy34 8 лет назад +2

They keep using him because the films he writes end up making hundreds of millions in the box office. Sure, they are shit films, but they are profitable shit films. That is unfortunately how Hollywood operates.

Hey dude, I have a request and hoping you'd consider it.
I hope you review Disney's Tomorrowland. (since you're in the UK, the title is Tomorrowland: A World Beyond.) It's definitely on the most controversial movies of 2015 since the audience's opinion on the movie is so divided between LIKED and HATED territory.

I have a different theory on why the Hitman movies didn't work. I agree that it's boring to just watch someone who's hard as owt beating up dudes because they're never in any real danger, but I'd also argue that the filmmakers haven't understood the game series.
The film thinks that Hitman is a power fantasy, trying to make the viewer identify with 47. But playing the games, it never felt like I was playing him - it felt like I was playing his handler. It's third-person, the appeal isn't about BEING him, it's about working with him and watching him. You have this buff dude under your command and you make him sneak around, wrestle other dudes and strip them and dress up in all kinds of sharp outfits (which somehow fit him perfectly). He's basically a male version of Lara Croft: yeah, she's tough, but you know that's not what she's there for.
The Transporter series does this really well. You don't identify with Jason Statham, you identify with the sidekick lass, or the shadowy clients who control and watch him. There's plenty of hot women in the film, sure, but the Stath is always the one getting his shirt off and getting covered in oil in really ridiculous improbable action sequences. The way it's shot makes it clear that he's the eye candy, but at the same time it never makes him seem like a passive object, he still gets to be the hero and a badass.
So anyone wanting a good Hitman movie, just watch Transporter instead. It even has plenty of fight scenes using really creative improvised weapons and cool martial arts :)

I found this one to have an interesting plot, great cinematography and good potential to be a spy movie. But it was a sorry excuse for initiating a franchise movie.

GeekyGlassesTV I just saw Agent 47 for myself and I gotta say I disagree somewhat with this review. I mean this review would have been 100 % spot on if you were talking about the original movie with Timothy Olyphant as 47. That was abysmal because you can't possible get any more mediocre than that. It's not good, it's not bad, it's just so god damned average and plays like a boring music video that you have zero investment in. I find that Agent 47 at least had a touch of silly about it. Agent 47 has a subtle humor about him and then there's so many over the top splatter moments that really work to this movie's advantage, and then in the end of the movie, it ends on the most awesome and most silliest moment possible, when the Hitman clone comes up and it just ends that way. In fact, that ending reminds me of the Mortal Kombat ending. It's so delightfully corny. If you haven't watched the original Hitman movie, I presume you have though, you ought to at least agree that you'd much rather watch Agent 47.

kind of wierd how the games you'd expect to have good adaptations like this, mortal kombat, final fantasy, mario bros, silent hill, assassins creed etc suck but then you get good-decent adaptations for things like kirby, animal crossing or angry birds
