Really like these changes - I'm not sure why but SFO really feels more like 'my' kind of Warhammer than playing Vanilla, as much as I've been trying to play it.
I can’t play vanilla anymore. I played 1 campaign and it felt wrong. Been on hiatus until SFO is updated
For me, units just feel way more lore-accurate. After using Chaos Warriors in SFO, I can't go back to having fun with them in Vanilla. SFO CWs feel like champions who have earned their chaos plate; Vanilla CWs feel like slightly bulkier standard soldiers. Likewise for Elves / Dwarfs - everything feels more "real"!
same feeling
I find Dwarfs campaign in particular almost unplayable right now >_
@@ardentword508
Yeah or Chosen dealing actual AOE being true monsters and not just big soldiers that dont make much difference
"Things that are, things that were, and things that have not yet come to pass...." -Galadriel
Such a good line.
@@VenrisSFO And now I've corrected it to the proper line!
"We´re preparing a mechanic for Ungrim" This is why I love SFO and the team so much
Gimme gimme gimme! I’m saving Franz and Malakai for SFO Old World campaigns and I can’t take it anymore! 😵💫
Much appreciation to all the work you do!
CA should really give you early access to updates so you can update this stuff faster. Vanilla just doesn’t do it for me and I know I’m not the only one.
Nah, we are fine without EA :).
I still feel that Gyrocopters and Gyrobombers could have an in-between number… more than 4 less than 12… maybe 8?
Would just make them weaker, gyros in sfo have no problem with 4 on ultra unit scale easily getting 300+ kills before running out of ammo and not using the bombs
@@mace7077 That's not necessarily a bad thing, dwarfs are already campaign monsters in vanilla yet alone sfo
@@jamieeddolls5605 about every faction is campaign monsters these days unfortunately. That said 4 is and was better imo.
The only thing I have a potential issue with is the Gyrocopter and Gyrobomber entity count still being small. I think it helps differentiate them from the Thunderbarge and boosts their effectiveness.
Plus it looks SUPER cool.
Everything else is absolutely perfect. I especially loved the Cavalry Bane on the Slayers (Grudge)! Helps them perform as that frontline for Slayer armies!
Yeah, I love the increase in unit models. 4 gyrobombers spraying machinegun fire is a sight to behold.
Oh my god I cant wait. I havent bought Thrones yet since Im waiting for SFO
Soon™
Same
I just cant play TW Warhammer without sfo -..... it feels more like a lore right warhammer.
Fuck your "This game is so unballanced" . Its lore friendly
. Stronger Monsters. Better elite units.
Doing gods work Venris. Good job
Mod, same as vanill ais not balanced :P
Hoping the new mechanic changes also includes runes
Yes, we have idea for Dwarf runes!
I like the changes but I did really like how CA made the Gyrocopter unit sizes bigger is there a reason you guys changed it back
There were always great in SFO, unit increase makes them weaker as models drop faster.
can't wait for this update. Lots of good core game changes in this DLC and I'm craving the SFO spin on it.
Sounds great! Can't wait to try it :)
THX for all the work.
You are welcome
Everything looks amazing, only change I don’t like that I see others also complaining about is the lowering of the entity amount for the gyros. I was really happy when they increased the amount. You guys don’t have to increase it to the vanilla number but adding a few more would just make them seem more fun to play with.
happy to know that the thunderbargers are unchanged, with the higher health across the board in SFO they will definitely be less dominating but still be powerfull
Venris, I love your work. Dwarfs are my favorite faction since game 1. Thank you for this. Only nitpick is I did like the increased numbers of gyrocopters and gyrobombers, so if its up to a poll, I vote for more. But I trust you to have your reasons. Keep up the good work, please!
Brilliant stuff. First time since the release of sfo for the third installment. I'm actually excited, and I can't wait
Soon™
Thing i have most doubts about are amount of entities in gyrocopters, thats the change i liked the most in ToD when it comes to units :D Well, we will see how it will go ^^ (and ofc waiting impatiently for SFO update
I really like the changes made and looking forward to testing them!
Thank you!
Excellent job! Only thing i can be even remotely disappointed in is that the gyros didnt get their extra models. I think CAs reasoning (12 copters -> 4 bombers -> 1 barge) is nice but then again in sfo you guys made the 1/4 model bomber/copters very strong themselves!
I like all these changes but I really liked them making the gyrocopter/bomber 12/4 units, I never used them before cause they just couldn't output enough damage and when they ran out of ammo they're useless, but with more numbers they could just get so much more value and I love them thematically so I loved using them, I hope at least with them being put back to their old numbers they're good enough to actually use still.
Not sure what to think about the heat seeking cluster troll hammer missiles from the gyros but otherwise this is all looking rad as ever! Looking forward to finally play the game as it is meant to be played again.
Cant wait for the empire rework! I still cant belive CA hasnt given them a faction passive still. I miss Imperial Alliegance from SFO.
So keen! I am holding off playing till this comes out!
Soon™
Great work! I am excited to see all of the changes in action! One question, did a certain Vampire Coast lord gain access to slayer pirates now too?
Who knows.
Love these changes, absolutely ecstatic to try this out in unit beta, been finding for sfo for a month now was gonna go re-download tww2. Gyrocopters back to 4 is brilliant, 12-16 made no sense lorewise. Grudge units all sound like they have a fun spin like we knew SFO would have. Would have two suggestions for further differentiating them from their standard unit cousin's though.
1) grudge longbeards = add unbreakable/armor sundering
2) irondrakes = change contact effect to searing heat (old fire dot contact effect from runeforge) in place of standard burnt/discourage
3)Please add a bolt thrower grudge unit = built in rune of seeking and disguise
Looking forward to seeing what is done with garagrim in ungrims campaign, was abit scared when vanilla announced garagrim what it would do to the sfo ungrim campaign that he played a major part in.
I think the new vanilla trollhammer torpedos are one of the best dwarf buffs, they do HUGE dmg to big targets
Everything looks really great so far.
We obviously have to play for ourselves how the units really feel, but it doesn't take much imagination to guess that the Slayer Pirates and Doomseekers will be much more interesting compared to vanilla. Can't wait to see what you came up with on the campaign side of things!
They were quite weak sadly.
I never had too many problems with doomseekers and would often send them face first I the enemy without much worry.
Slayer pirates on the other hand... yeah I don't get these guys. They just fell apart and never really did anything. Though putting that dragonscale cloak banner on that ROR slayer pirates for a -15 melee attack aura was really nice
@@taranwright3493 If you send Doomseekers against low tier infantry they can obviously do the job.
But thats not exactly the point of an elite infantry unit.
You are doing great work! I love playing with SFO and prefer it to vanilla. The torpedos look amazing!
I have bought the dlcs, but I am not really too keen on playing the game until sfo update.
:)
@@VenrisSFO how does it feel to be responsible for the Definitive Experience™
Been holding off playing dwarfs until the SFO update. Totally worth the wait.
I too would like to add I wouldn't mind a happy medium between 4 and 12 gyros :
Holy shit! Trollhammer gyrocopters! I've have uses for them.
Heat seekers :D
Thank you for the hard work.
You mentioned towards the end that Ungrim will be getting some changes in SFO. Will this be campaign only or will you be changing his skill tree aswell? Will Journeys End be the same as it is in vanilla?
EVERYTHING
sfo is a cure for this game. Good job!
Cough
Awesome stuff!
Thank you!
Honestly I feel a little disappointed that the thunderbarge wasn’t made more balanced in sfo. CA doesn’t seem to want to nerf them yet but I hoped sfo would.
This umgi makes a good mod
Hello, can you give the moon bird frost fire attack as well?
Since it’s just fitting its lore more than only fire attack
will you be giving the chaos dwarfs their own version of the two dwarf shieldwall formations that have been added?
I cant put my finger on it but I feel like this video was a little... short.
Lmao Gyrocopters dealt pitiful damage but flame cannon annihilated those rat ogres
3 volleys on the giant rat ogre did like half its health... On a ranged flier....
Thats kind of nuts, doing constant damage to single entities that can't fight back...
THe damage on the rat ogres was spread out to every rat ogre in the squad. They're obviously meant for single entities.
Gyros are best against single stuff.
I like the changes.
Are all gyrocopter units going to 4 units from 12?
yeah the 4 gyrocopters feel much more appropriate than the 12 entity unit
I agree
Gyrocopters were stronger in vanilla(grudge trollhammer one). Could be because they have more entities. What was the reason to keep them low entity if i may ask?
They are quite rare in lore and we like our balance with less units.
Look at these cool units I won’t tell you about with a hidden mechanic… come on Venris I’ve been patient. Let me get my dawi on!
Thanks!
Gyrocopters with trolltorpedos seems to be underperforming compared to vanilla
Tested already?
Considering how overperforming are quite a few stuff on vanilla... I for one am mostly waiting for SFO to balance things out for they are disgustingly OP, it takes out all the fun.
@@VenrisSFO No, judging purely off this video footage
@@Grimdeath94 Sure, but you only get 1 of those per 15 turns assuming perfect play, yet they do less damage than flame cannons to rat ogres. (from what I can see)
Torpedoes always do better against single entities, put a trollhammer gyro on a dread saurian or toad dragon and watch the value explode
Aww kinda sad for no modle increase on the copters.
This looks cool,
new mechanic for ungrim is exciting
Soon™
I like the changes, only thing I'd say was that I liked the gyrocopter unit size change for vanilla. other than that very cool
You're adding Glorious charge to Bretonia right?
Some units gets it there yes.
So what is going on with the Iron Drakes? Trollhammers are not going to be long range like vanilla? Guess I won't be using them then.
Is there any way to get sfo if you dont own the game on steam?
Only on Steam.
looks good but i would like to get more gyros per unit
❤
It's a shame that Wards of Grimnir scales off of kills since it incentivises killing a bunch of weak units instead of fighting large threats like dragons, trolls, giants, demons, etc which slayers aspire to fight.
Would it be possible to scale Wards of Grimnir from damage dealt instead of kills?
I keep thinking about the new grudges mechanic and it feels like they made the same mistake as they made with the orcs where they fixed something that wasn't fundamentally broken on top of fixing what actually needed to be fixed. How grudges were allocated was absolutely in need of fix and the new system is basically perfect but this age of reckoning replacing the old grumblers grudge meter is terrible.
Age of Reckoning should have been a special Thorgrim only mechanic that rewarded him for clearing out a lot of grudges (cause striking grudges is like HIS WHOLE DEAL) with no downsides outside of normal old grumblers mechanics but gave him bonuses for striking massive or lots of grudges.
The old meter making you more militarily stronger when there were lots of grudges but economically/growthfully(?) stronger when there were few grudges was great it just needed better effects and for the grudges themselves to actually work properly. Age of reckoning for all dwarfs was just a complete mistake and puts such a sad stain on whats otherwise a great rework :(
Not the best mechanic but its getting fixed by CA.
@@VenrisSFO "Fixed" tweaked. It'll be less obnoxious without the strict time limit and less harsh penalties but it just doesn't fit dwarfs on its own :(
Its like a poor man's waagh or dwarfy beastmen moon.
thunderbarge doesn't need change for SFO, just showing how broken they are in Vanilla lol
Yep.
@@VenrisSFO are you using the 5.0 version or nerfed 5.0.3 version of thunderbarge?
i dint understand you clearly but are you not gonna increase the amount of helis or you haven't for now?
Helis?
@@VenrisSFO I think they're referring to Gyrocopters, or Heli as in Helicopter
he will increase it
@@VenrisSFO
I think he meant if you're gonna make the gyrocopters unit increase to 12 model per unit like vanilla or not
@@charalamboscharalambous165 Nope, we leave old numbers.
My biggest problem with vanilla is the game is too easy I play in legendary and it's still piece of cake
Beta nao!
Nao
Please help kislev.
kislev is the strongest multiplayer faction in the game by far, not sure they need much help
Just a quick note. I think all of these abilities that charge up via kills is garbage. It kinda should be based on damage, no? Large entities, single entities, theyre still only worth 1!
Besides, undead and demonic crumbling results in way less unit kills, because those units just kill themselves. FYI, even 200 kills is a whole lot for a single unit. If it was 20k, even 30k dmg however... with SFO health bars, that would be more reasonable. Imo.
However, if the point is to not let those units charge up every battle and should feel as a hard earned reward, then you know... fair enough.
Fuck dude these changes make me realize why Vanilla is so unplayable. CA has no imagination; 3 minutes into this vid and there are more interesting unit mechanics than are present in ToD's entire DLC. Add to that the shit balance in Vanilla; yo let's add slayer pirates but make them do half the damage of regular slayers! Like, fucking what?!
Thank you.
Give poor CA some credit! Helstorm rockets pooping out tiny Purple Suns is nothing if not creative!
reducing gyrocopter and gyrobomber count seems a big step back for me. The increased size made the unit actually good reducing it back down seems a step in the wrong the direction. Is there a reason you didn't like it? Because, for me right now doesn't seem very "Simply Fun Overhaul" to me.
They were never bad in SFO. Fact that vanilla had to increase the size to make it working it out of our balance.
@@VenrisSFO they definitely aren't bad in SFO but they weren't great. As boring as just increasing the unit count is, it did a great job a making the unit look and feel strong and taking that away for me, I guess, feels pretty bad. Especially the gyrobomber that dude needed a few friends
I feel like the thunder barge needs nerfed
prob not in sfo since they use army caps in balancing :`)
We did not buffed it much so its fine.
@@VenrisSFO I feel like they need a nerf with the new dwarf lord, that can grant a flying unit 75+ missile resistance, lets say in vanilla, my friend went to the toilet for 5 or more minutes while i was shooting at it, and because he had them spread out it did massacre my army, while lets say 20 volleys of armor penetrating shots didnt bring it even to 80 or 75 percent hp, othervise i think it is balanced, just either get rid of the buff or nerf it, or next time i will have pvp campaign i will go crazy xD (i was playing Empire and the only counter to even 2 or 3 of them that i thought of were luminar wagons or however its called, tried everything else)
@@patrikomelka3918 You dont understand, we did not changed the unit, it has vanilla stats. So its overall nerfed in mod.
@@patrikomelka3918 You dont understand, we did not changed the barg, its vanilla stats so its a big nerf in mod.
So if I'm not mistaken you took an already super duper OP faction and made its units even more super duper OP yesh?
What a waste
