Thanks Patrick! My dad is a big time relic hunter, I'll have to do a video on his collection one day soon. Have you been out relic hunting at all lately?
@@HokeOutdoors , I’ve hunted a few times up in Virginia. I’ve found some really cool relics. Let me know when you do a video on the relics. I followed you on here so hopefully I will get a notification. I just started doing videos. Lol
Yeah my dad has caught or killed some pretty incredible stuff. I doubt I will ever come close to any of the deer he has killed, I'm just like waterfowling too much to invest lots of time and money into deer hunting. That perch was a hog, the thing is he's caught some bigger ones than that...
Awesome video. Good luck with your first day and week of college. Looking forward for next week's video as always keep up the great work. Love the story's behind you and your's dad's taxidermy.
I had a notification pop up from a Ducks Unlimited app I have that said “the fastest duck ever recorded was a red breasted merganser, that topped out at 100 mph”
Great video. Hopefully you are going to Old Dominion “The Harvard of the south”. Just kidding hope you have a good time at college and hopefully there will be good hunting around you.
Virginia Outdoors Unlimited There is hunting around long wood. I believe the feather fin WMA is close by. My aunt and cousin are longwood grads. If I can give any advice study and go to class there will be many distractions and lots of fun to be had but stay focused and set yourself up for success in the future. Make friends your network you are creating while at college will be great assets in life. Some of my best most dependable friends are the guys I met at ODU.
Those mergansers have cool colors...but man are they gross. Here in Oregon, those critters fly all over the place. Don't waste a spot in your limit on a merganser. I have shot them, but man I'd rather shoot a teal over that thing.
I typically don't shoot them as well, just cause I hardly ever eat them. In Virginia we actually have a separate merganser limit (5 per day) so shooting one doesn't count towards your limit of 6 regular ducks.
Yeah, with a full choke buckshot is very lethal at 70 yards. Lead will hold it's velocity and energy very well at long range. That is the edge of the range I'd ever shoot buckshot at a deer with, but as long as you have the right choke and solid aim it will certainly kill a deer.
It was #00 and 3 inch if I remember correctly. The couple times I've patterned by shogun with buckshot I was shooting very decent groups with 3 1/2 inch #00 buck with my extra full choke out of my Stoeger.
I think I'll stick to shooting ducks over water thanks, if that's they're home then that's probably where they want to be and in that case where I wanna be!!
Enjoyed your video and stories about each piece. I also noticed the Civil War relics in the box. I relic hunt as well.

Have you been out scouting for ducks yet I have and I’m seeing a ton of wood ducks and mallards saw a blue wing teal to which was awesome
Nope, I won't be in the area I typically hunt for teal season so I'm waiting to scout until I get to college.
Virginia Outdoors Unlimited ok I look forward to seeing some duck hunting videos in a couple months
My first duck I was 8, and he was a banded wood duck from Canada
Holy crap that's crazy! My first duck was a bufflehead hen.
Hey I’m VP of the Hampden-Sydney College chapter of DU. Let me know if you have any questions about the waters around Longwood and HSC.
Awesome vid 👏👏👏👏

Haha I'm actually headed to Longwood, just couldn't bring myself to have to live in the VA beach area for 4 years. Not the biggest fan of traffic.

Yellow perch
Nice video
What type of tackle did he use to land that big cat?
I'm not exactly sure, I think a big catfish rod, circle hook and a piece of shad.
Like your videos bro
My first duck hunt I killed a shovler and then a cinnamon teal
Where are you based out of we duck hunt Gloucester area
I'm in Central VA
The mallards wings turn white when it the bird gets old
Huh that's interesting, never heard that before
I want to come to your house. 😍😂
It’s a yellow perch
I’ve killed 4 woodies(3, drakes,1 hen), ring neck, drake gadwall hbu?
Overall? I've killed mallards, wood ducks, gadwall, black duck, widgeon, green-wing teal, ringneck, bluebill, goldeneye, buffleheads, and mergansers.

Virginia Outdoors Unlimited oh that must be nice. In Oregon every duck goes towards our 7 duck limit.
Buck shot 70yards ?

Virginia Outdoors Unlimited was it #000 or#00 and 3 or 2/3quarter inch because im going to pattern my shot gun with a improve mod and full at 70yards

find me a whitetail that has horns?
Easier said than done
Love your vids but they are not horns
Yeah should of said antlers, I don't really differentiate between the two
Ya it doesn't madder
Why does he say merganser that way lol
Hunt a damn field once please, stop killing ducks on water that’s there home and it’s not ethical
I think I'll stick to shooting ducks over water thanks, if that's they're home then that's probably where they want to be and in that case where I wanna be!!
Are you draft? They're called waterfowl for a reason
