      ​@@dennishughes721No. Mazda bought themselves out before they even got with Toyota, and the small 5% toyota owns of mazda is only worth sharing parts. Literally Mazda is the only manufacturer Japan has always refused to bail out, and yet they're doing better now regardless. Can't say the same for Nissan or Mitsubishi who did get bailed out by Gov. money. Toyota takes care of themselves.

    Mazda needs to be given props. A small manufacturer like them has always managed to stay afloat. Back in the financial crisis, when Ford nearly went belly up and sold its shares, a small brand like Mazda should’ve went defunct, and yet here they are.

    The world as a whole bought 75.3 million new cars in 2023… the toyota group was responsible for 11.2 million of them. 1 in almost 7 cars bought was a toyota product.
    N it was the same story last year. 1 in almost 7 cars bought in 2022 was a toyota product.

      In hindsight, yes, the RNM Alliance can be safely called a mistake. But back then Nissan was on the verge of extinction due to debt, and Renault buying them was a life-saver.

      Renault's financial help prompted Nissan to launch many good products, such as the 350Z/370Z, GT-R, FX, G, M. None of those would've existed without Renault's financial backup.

      @@avdp9095 I think the mistake was in Nissan not looking for ways to become independent once they became profitable and could pay Renault back. Mazda bought itself out from Ford and it has done wonders for them, I think Nissan should've attempted to do the same. Problem is, I don't think Renault had any interest in letting go of Nissan and that's probably why everything has gone downhill for both. Too much internal contention.

      Nissans problem is self inflicted. Go to any major dealer lot no matter the brand. You will find 2021-2023 Altimas and Sentras on the lot with low milage and if you check the carfax they will all be former rental cars. Why buy a new one even at discount when you can get a gently used one for cheaper?

    if you look at the new Toyota products coming out, they are all priced above competition. Toyota is cashing in on their reputation for reliability. It's like MSRP hardly matters if you are buying a product that lasts for decades and holds it value really well. Their profit margins must be huge!

    I think once the new battery factory that will supply battery packs for Toyota's burgeoning hybrid models goes online later this year, Toyota's lead will get even bigger. Especially now they dominate the compact and standard-size sedan markets here in the USA with the Corolla and Camry models.

    My father in law bought a pathfinder new and I love it. Coming from the perspective of a 2019 pilot touring owner it seems very roomy and I bought the pilot because it was the roomiest car I could find that wasn’t a minivan or full size pickup truck

    The New Kicks should be a relative hit for Nissan. They should sell the Sentra SR in the USA with the manual transmission (like they do in Canada) and try to go back to their econo-enthusiast roots. Also, the Nissan Leaf was relatively popular for those wanting a cheap EV. They should have done more with the Leaf, including maybe making a hybrid version. They've made lots of mistakes, but I hope they can survive and rebound someday.

    I drove my nissan frontier for nearly 13 yrs and log 238k miles and still was able to sell it for 5k, I like nissan engine , I am presently driving a versa 2012 now 12 yrs old 200k miles still have original everything but brakes and tires and lately catalytic converter, the cheapest car when I bought it 12 yrs ago, however this time around I don't trust nissan CVT transmission as they are notoriously bad , why continue with this CVT that is BAD

    Toyota is doing well with most unibody vehicles. When you look at body on frame vehicles. Trucks SUVs etc, they have lost their damn minds with their pricing and options. I'm very disappointed with toyota in this regard.

      @@mindfullymellow2323 I drove a 2007 and 2010 RX350, the 2007 for four years and the 2010 for 12 years! I loved my RX's, but when I decided to get a new car, my choice was between the NX and the CX50, and the value for the money on the CX50 was what sold me on it. I also owned an RX-7 back in the late eighties until the mid-nineties, so I've always been a Mazda fan.
      This December will be two years that I've been driving my CX-50, and it just seems to get better and better the longer I drive it. I'm very happy with the build quality! It's been a very solid car so far! I'm happy with my choice!:)

    Toyota was absolutely spot-on to go hybrid over pure EV. I look at current EV technologies and unless things change drastically, I will not buy a pure EV anytime in the foreseeable future. When built-in thorium reactors (or some other transfer of clean energy) can recharge EV batteries on the fly, I'll reconsider.

Left wing parties in Brussels wants a swift transition to EV no matter what it cost.....Generation Z support this, because they are clueless, brainless.... . So they are forcing us in EV'S, VW was glad with this because it was a distraction from their Dieselgate.... .so it started 4 years ago... . And now we have a tidal wave comi g of first Generation Bev's, all obese, to much weight, not enough range, to expensive but at least they don't polute....according to the Green 'terrorists' in Brussels and that Greta monster, xr rebellion. An Ev does polute and its lifespan is 1/3 of an Ice hybrid....it doesn't matter for Brussel. We are forced into an EV.
      Toyota's problem is that their strategy is spot on but their message is not heard....or misread by biased media....

    At this point I have no interest at all to buy a EV,I would never want to deal with range anxiety and these charging stations long line ups on holiday weekends. Phev I’m in ,or hybird or a real fuel efficient ICE vehicle.

    I love how the Japanese are always one generation behind, while the Germans are doing horrible interiors with digital climate the Japanese are copying the Germans previous generation interiors with actual functional buttons and understanding that we care about driving dynamics I have a new Accord and I have accepted in my heart that even though it’s a hybrid it does offer the joy of driving the one time on the road I was in a situation where I needed my car to be a Honda not a dumb hybrid it succeeded. I’m about to be 24 years old and I’m so happy I haven’t fallen into the debt trap via 3 series/C class. I’ve driven both of those cars. The new C is a violent disappointment. The 3 is to tight in the front and ZERO rear space in the back.

      The exception to the rule on the German side is BMW because they studied and implemented a lot of the quality management practices of Toyota while still producing a distinctly German vehicle.

    I only know about the Z Nismo which I was ready to buy until I saw no adaptive ride, no full leather like the GTR gets, no manual. I said no way to it and there are 2 sitting and not selling within 50 miles of me.

    The 2025 4Runner and Land Cruiser will be the high demand and short supply for the next year or two

    Frontier they still want 5.75-6.75% and other models are 2.99-3.99 while ford is at 0 and luxury brands are 1.9 and up.

      Here in Dallas, Nissan dealers are selling new 2024 Nissan Sentra for $4000 under MSRP. On the other hand, Toyota dealers are still selling new 2024 Toyota Corollas for over MSRP. Fire sale indeed!!

    No wonder Toyota dealers near me are pretty much near empty with lots of customers going in while the Nissans' dealers are full of vehicles especially Altimas. My local Toyota dealers don't do markups and sometimes under MSRP I guess that helps.

    I would consider a Nissan as I had a few rentals and quite liked them. However when I bought a Micra for my mom I had a really bad dealer experience at delivery so at this point I’m turned off from the brand. Of course if I spoke to a dealer they’ll swear up and down to give them another chance but at this point the trust is gone.

    I sell Toyotas in the great state of Maine, and for some people Toyota is an aspirational brand. Most people would rather buy a low trim Toyota, then a fully loaded Nissan because it’s a smart choice.

    I'm shopping for a new vehicle and at the top of my list is the 2025 Camry; however, as they are now trickling into dealerships, Redditors are posting window stickers showing markups of $5k over MSRP. Based on the information in this video, Toyota has no incentive to "make a deal" since people are gladly paying the markup price on these vehicles. My next option is the 2024 Sonata. I know Hyundai's reliability is not on par with Toyota, but I only drive about 6,000 miles a year.

      Look at Kelly blue book. Set range to 400-500 miles. I find them 3k below msrp if you are willing to drive a bit. In some models I see up to 6k below msrp. Just gotta be willing to go out of your way. Make sure to look at the state sales tax if you buy out of state.

    About three years ago, Japanese government wanted Honda and Toyota to buy out Renault’s share of Nissan. I never heard anything else about this potential buyout. Many decades ago, Nissan (Datsun) was actually much larger than Toyota.

    As a consumer that wants to buy a Grand Highlander someday, I hope the supply increases quite a bit in the next 2-3 years.

    You know for all us og Nissan fans this is mind boggling. Nissan used to have the cooler cars and they were usually as lil faster too. I had an m37 on 20s and it was so noice. I remember the breath of fresh air the 350z was with the accompanying g35 and g37. Good times but what's mind freaking boggling is they had the freaking Nissan leaf from 2010 and just dropped the ball.

      What’s more mind boggling is that they hostile took over Mitsubishi Motors, then cancelled Mitsubishi’s EV projects, which included an EV Mirage, EV Outlander, EV city car, and an EV Triton. Then they took that technology to Nissan, and totally dropped the ball. I don’t know any dumber moves than what Nissan has been doing for the last 4yrs.

    I had placed an order for a Canadian spec. Corolla hybrid back in early March (the Prius Prime is too expensive (even after a $5k Federal rebate) and too rare for my liking) so given the huge demand for their hybrids it's anybodies guess when I can expect delivery but at least the process's been started.

    Nissan offers a slew of e-power models in other markets, so it's quite puzzling, if not concerning, that they choose not to offer any in the US. Is there something inherently wrong with the technology that's to blame why they're not bringing it to the highly regulated but also highly litigious US? Because it simply doesn't make sense that they're struggling this badly, with market conditions ripe for hybrid offerings, yet they are steadfast in their flawed strategy.

      They all suck and are generic slow cars. The only thing worth purchasing from either company is the gtr that’s outdated and to expensive and the Supra that’s really a bmw z4 with a Toyota tune and trans tune mixed with some visuals. The rest are regular traffic bought and sold under the reliability clause at the cost of slow weak output motors just to look like every other dick and Jane on the road in America which is some none America activities that support somebody else’s economy.

      Nissan doesn’t even offer any of their N. American vehicles to any Latian / Caribbean countries.. And Jamaica doesn’t get the Rogue .. They get the X Trail that has an A/T so I dont know what youre talking about .. The March, Note, and other Japanese vehicles that are imported to the Caribbean islands all have A/T transmissions and also reliable furthermore I don’t think Jamaica gets any of the newer Nissan vehicles yet alone Infiniti

    I’m very close to buying a top spec Nissan X Trail E Power… it seems to be a really good and better specced car in comparison to the older RAV4 and new CRV here in Australia.     Nissan continues to struggle with brand identity. Why would a consumer ever pick Nissan over any other brand. They aren’t the most reliable (Toyota & Honda), they don’t have the most tech for less (Hyundai & Kia), they don’t have the nicest interiors (Mazda), and they don’t have a loyal following (Subaru). They might be the most vanilla out of all of the Asian brands which is probably why rental fleets love them so much.

    Whos still buying the the part shortage excuse used to explain the current very low Toyota days supply numbers despite being now almost halfway 2024? I sense an intentionally limited production strategy intended to avoid incentivising discounts below MSRP and the need to sell more volume. They want to make sure people have fewer options hence leading people to pay the full MSRP. Even if you wait til 2025 or 2026, dealers will still be asking you to be on a waiting list for a standard Toyota model.

    What I would do if I were in charge of nissan:
    -get rid of the infamous CVT
    -discontinue the Altima and Rogue to make way for a new fastback Mitsubishi Galant and tough Nissan XTERRA
    -market the Versa as a compact “working class car” and revive the hatchback variant (without the Note nickname)
    -market the Sentra as Nissan’s family sedan, offer AWD and an off road variant to give Subaru a taste of what they’re throwing away
    -make the New Kicks have a more down-sloped hood
    -Frontier and Pathfinder would basically be stablemates

    Nissan crossover and SUV models with their V6 have all been excellent. They are being totally let down by their dogshit 4 cylinder and now 3 cylinder cars like Juke, Rouge, and their sedans aren't great either. It looks like they aren't expecting to be a juggernaut in the hybrid business and are mostly going straight from I.C.E. cars to EV's.
