This week Astrid makes Vietnamese and/or Thai Spring and/or summer rolls. Seriously, they are called everything. I surf in San Pancho, and do a bunch of errands around the casita. It's a good week to be living in Mexico :)
What else? The new casita we are building is going great. The cats are all happy. It's getting super hot here. This, btw, is what I write when I'm waiting for the HD version to upload. It's about 5 min to the SD or standard version, so probably another 40 min until the HD is up. Then Astrid and I are going to walk up the street and grab some dinner. Not sure where yet. Maybe Barracuda, Maybe La Perla or the other one on the beach. I could go for a burger kinda
Oh, the spring rolls astrid made were really good. I've made them once and she has made them twice. Shoutout to our neighbor Renee for gifting us the rice paper wrappers.

Shaun ! We've been watching you for awhile and gotta say, the flow, the music, the editing and content in this one was spot on.. You're so great with the peanut (even w pesticides) gallery comments.. Gotta tell you something funny. I'm talking w your neighbors down the street, about the building they're doing . I was on my way down to check it out.end of May... .short story.: Decided on shoulder surgery instead.. called and said, "Won't make it now,but keep me posted." Heading down near Sept. .. Was bummed to make that decision but was the right one. AND... drum roll........ Don't you know, -the next night I watched you hike over to Sayulita and you paused right in front of the building and said "Hey the neighborhood is growing.!" I got to see how the progress was going. Thanks for that.. Saved me the trip! We're on Cape Cod, winter surfing is when our waves our best. and now the sharks have made it their Summer seal buffet resort. Take the bitter w the better.. Tell Astrid to say Hello from Tricia to Maria the next time she might do any photography w her. She'll flip..we go back years!!! You got a talent there Señor for vlogging. You caught our attention.. I won't track you down and pest you when we head back. If I see you in town or on the beach I'll say "Cape Cod Seals & Surf" to you.. N Jersey ain't so far away. Lived in Oaxaca in the 70's.... I know how it goes when you try to explain all the plusses to folks on the east coast who still love the snow & Dunky Don"s!! By the way, Astrid rocks!! I love her.. You may doubt your choices, Astrid was a SCORE!! Keep em coming. we love watching you.
Wow thanks Tricia, nice to meet you! I agree, this was a well constructed video compared to many. I'm still finding my voice, and honing in on my own style but this one felt good and your comment helps me a lot:). I will tell Astrid that you know Maria...she was our architect on our new build! I've never been to Cape Cod, but being from the Northeast I know it well... beautiful area. Funnily enough in the 1970s my older brother, also was a surfer, spent a good deal of time in Puerto Escondido and Oaxaca...whole different world then!!! Good for you being adventurous! And yes, while there is much I toil with in life... my choice in a wife and life partner is rock solid :). She's amazing. Well, thank you so much for saying hello. @@ShauninParadise I can say this Shaun. Even when you're thinking about your videos as some better than others, for us, we love them all - you always come through. . You Stand Out from the rest. Your humor, editing, music and commentary ( especially the side comments) keep us paying full attention. Other tubes we can watch while we're cooking etc.. Yours are so sharp so many great little inuendos, we wait till we're sitting right in front of the screen to catch 'em all. You SO got this! I may have sold peanut butter or granola to your brother down in Escondido!!. That was my gig,,,,neither existed. SO I got the kids all together in my palapa and cracked peanuts, used meat grinders to make sesame and peanut butter, & granola which was my biggest seller, put them in recycled yogurt cups and I sauntered along the beach selling those and crocheted bikini tops.. Those were the days... Tengo buen memorias de esas dias alla in Oaxaca..

If you can afford to live in San Pancho, and surf. No question. 62 year old here. Ex big wave surfer, may get back to it. Moved to Hawaii at 38 to do it. Not there anymore. GO FOR IT...>!!!

shawn that was awesome, and serene. the simple pleasures. The big lebowski reference for wisdom was so cool. The food looked bussin'(ok i have a 22 yr old daughter) . Not much of a cleaner unfortunately. Teaching and practicing yoga does it for me. Next time down laila and i will try to find you

Pavers are called losas here 🤙🏽 I actually learned recently that peanuts r the worst thing for us as they get highest levels of fertilizer and such. Everything is gnarly haha

You know what... I personally think that because your life didn't end up as you once thought that "you" wanted... I do believe that in itself is the success. It means you didn't allow previous generations to dictate your life. You went along following your own intuition instead, even when it was difficult. If it weren't for that, there really would be no end to the monkey business. It would just get bigger and bigger and bigger. But no... You and I be bursting those bubbles! 🐒💥😊
Bubbles 🫧 has an emoji!!!!!!’ I just learned that ahhazz. I like the perspective about allowing previous generations etc. I wasnt that idealistic at the time, maybe just too young and energetic for college and or the real world. Work in progress still but gettin better each day :)

Enjoyed this today Shaun, particularly because at 7:17 I can see the balcony of the little apartment I stayed at when I was there in November. The place was great but the stairs up were a deathtrap!
As for being successful, I've always tried to remember what a dear friend once told me - people often think success happens under bright lights, on a bed of money surrounded by adoring fans, but in my experience, success happens alone in the darkness, curled up on the floor, beaten down to the bottom of your rope with every reason in the world to stay there. But you choose to get back up and take one step forward.

Were you a chef in your other life? Your cooking skills are awesome 👏🏻 once again, timing is perfect 👍🏻 inspired me to want to answer the same question. What would my 13-14 year old self think of my life right now? I can’t even answer all of that on camera but she’d be so excited and probably try to change a few things to see if she could make it better. I did my best though
We do the best we can with what we have :) I was a waiter and a wine guy when I was younger so I was around kitchens and picked things up. Also when I was even younger i was my mom’s helper in the kitchen because her hands were weak. My 13 year old self had unlimited energy, he probably thinks im lazy 😂

We're here in San Pancho, and the weather is fantastic... so far 😊. Now to put sun block and head to the beach to go surf(well my husband and daughter that is, lol!!)

Yes! it is hot and muggy! My glasses Fogg up when we walk out of air conditioning tim and the bugs are loving my right leg, lol!! I forgot to put my concoction last night.
