Such an humble person who calmy answers good questions and bad questions. Truly an ultimate legend of cricket history. But saying that he is known for controversy is an absolute insult to him. Anyhow you tease him daily by his controversies he will not react. He is one of the few calmest cricketers ever in the world. We Indians are very lucky that he got his 800th wicket against us. Hatteof Murali Sir! Iam very lucky to be a Tamil man like you Sir!

As an Indian cricket fan, Muttiah has given us lot to cry about in 90s when he singlehandedly defeated entire team. But the man is G.O.A.T, no one can deny that. He is a great bowler and great human being.

Smita Prakash might consider approaching the initial question with a bit more empathy, especially when addressing a legendary spin bowler in cricket who boasts an impressive record of 800 wickets in Test Matches and 534 wickets in One Day Internationals. This record remains unmatched to this day and may well remain unbroken for the foreseeable future. It's highly unlikely that Murali expected such a question to be his first, and this disappointment is quite evident, coming from a senior journalist. To add, these two records are just a small part of the incredible legacy Murali has built in the world of cricket. 2:44

But none around World Cup win, 800th wicket, almost breaking Laker's record, England 1998. Such a negative interview was only saved by the charm and grace of dear Murali.

I’m an ardent follower of your show and I’m in awe of your interviewing abilities to interview celebrities, politicians, bureaucrats, sportsman, movie and music industry, across spectrum! This was an excellent interview and got to know so much about Muthaiah Muralidharan, the greatest bowler of world cricket. Thank you.
One small observation. You started the interview on a negative note starting with the controversy with his bowling action and chucking controversy. He’s the highest wicket taker in the world. I expected you would welcome him with great awe about his record and achievements. You certainly should’ve asked about the controversy but not as the first question!
    Thank you.
    Keep up the great work!

Lords is the home of cricket, mcg is the greatest ground in the world, bradman is the goat blah blah. A lot of very average cricketers of theirs are projected as "great". This is a pattern if you notice.

Great podcast! One of the best things for the Sri Lanka cricket team is they encourage talent with different ways of playing whether in bowling or batting. Two people for bowling come to mind. Once is Malinga who had a very different way of letting go of the ball. And Muralitharan who had a unique style of bowling once perfected got him wicket after wicket. The so co called leaders of cricket particularly Australia and England would discourage such players if they came for training to become part of their teams - and change their styles ruining their potential. Now when Muralitharan started doing so well they obviously thought of him being a chucker... Interestingly if he had done well no such accusation would have come. I would see it is the white supremacist streak that made them think: Why is this guy doing so well - so obviously he must be cheating. Truly a brilliant player and seems to be a very nice person. He deserves what he got in adulation and the brickbats were surely not deserved. Cheers!

I literally hated him in my childhood. Seeing this interview is an first insight to a person . Such a humble cool man who rose to the level with such struggles. Much respect to him . Wish good success for upcoming movie .

All the questions are laced with negative connotations. Would like to hear more questions about what he had achieved.
