Such an humble person who calmy answers good questions and bad questions. Truly an ultimate legend of cricket history. But saying that he is known for controversy is an absolute insult to him. Anyhow you tease him daily by his controversies he will not react. He is one of the few calmest cricketers ever in the world. We Indians are very lucky that he got his 800th wicket against us. Hatteof Murali Sir! Iam very lucky to be a Tamil man like you Sir!

As an Indian cricket fan, Muttiah has given us lot to cry about in 90s when he singlehandedly defeated entire team. But the man is G.O.A.T, no one can deny that. He is a great bowler and great human being.

Smita Prakash might consider approaching the initial question with a bit more empathy, especially when addressing a legendary spin bowler in cricket who boasts an impressive record of 800 wickets in Test Matches and 534 wickets in One Day Internationals. This record remains unmatched to this day and may well remain unbroken for the foreseeable future. It's highly unlikely that Murali expected such a question to be his first, and this disappointment is quite evident, coming from a senior journalist. To add, these two records are just a small part of the incredible legacy Murali has built in the world of cricket. 2:44

Sense of racial superiority, that's the reason. Everything in england and australia is great. Lords is the home of cricket, mcg is the greatest ground in the world, bradman is the goat blah blah. A lot of very average cricketers of theirs are projected as "great". This is a pattern if you notice.

So many off spinners were caught nowadays who are known for breaking elbow rule of 15° .

I expected you would welcome him with great awe about his record and achievements. You certainly should’ve asked about the controversy but not as the first question!

Such a humble guy, getting 800+ wickets is a huge feat in the cricket world yet he fanboys over Sachin. He deserves all the praise. Absolute legend.
PS. I used to enjoy mimicking his bowling action as a kid.

I am a great Fan of Murli and I expected an entertaining podcast. Very disappointed after watching completely. No doubt he is a legend and the questions should have been more towards cricket, his journey of 800 test wickets. Arjuna, Desilva, and his world cup win. Many positive exciting moments of cricket. To come out of the trauma, I watched Murli’s matching winning moments on other RUclips channels. Thank you Smita for such a terrific pod cast. 🙏🏻

I remember, in 1997, I met Murali in Chandigarh Sector 10, right in front of Hotel Mount View. The Pakistan and Sri Lanka cricket teams were staying there. Murali, Dharmasena, and another Sri Lankan player were wandering in the market. People were trying to get autographs from them on the entire street, and a police officer was standing next to me. He said, "What will you gain by getting their autographs? If you have my autograph and if anyone catches you at the next signal ,you can save yourself by showing my autograph.🤣🤣🤣

Loved it when he bowled against India. Although as an Indian I used to hate him when he took wickets and those fearless eyes...My grandfather used to say..one would piss in the pants just by looking into his eyes when he used to bowl.
