I worked at a Ford dealership the summer of 1988 and I can just about remember the smell of these trucks from when it was new. Ahhhh Memories! We said “ not Dodge “ at the same time you were tapping on the dash!! 😂
I need to move to the south... That truck would be a rusty mess if it was up here! My first truck was an 89 1/2 ton... Loved that truck! That truck is very clean..
Iv'e had F250/350s since 1974, all gas engines. Don't known much about Diesels, but that is great find , solid and straight, she will clean up really nice!
Got an o1 f2shity 7.tree 700 thousand miles all original Michigan truck works construction and plowed every winter of its life. Been driving it for 22 years now. Still stroking and purrs like a kitten...13 letter shitspreader...INTERNATIONAL BEST DIESEL EVER MADE...also rust free amazing for it being in the salt belt its whole life
@@krazerblop2289 I gotcha, typically unless they were 1 or 2 owner, or family owned trucks it's easy for them to catch 1 or 2 rollovers on the odo and it's hard to prove 1 way or the other. Glad you obtained a mint specimen though brother. ❤️
The fuel filter housings on those trucks would get a hairline fracture in them and allow the fuel to bleed back from that point. Mine would start and run for a few minutes until it ran out of fuel. Then I had to crank on it a while to get the fuel back up there. Good times! Very nice rig!
Dude what a score. I bet if you spent a day cleaning up that truck she would be a runner for sure. Definitely a great looking truck even after sitting for that long. 100% go over those brakes before you go on any crazy drives. I'll subscribe for some future IDI content. That thing sounds good!
That Marvel Mystery Oil is really good. Great old truck ,I’m glad you’re able to save him . I don’t understand why a man would just park that machine and let him set . Why wouldn’t you get him fixed? A lot of truck/ money setting there for all those years. Thanks for making the effort and the videos. American Iron all the way!
That clicking means the glow plugs dont work. the controller needs to see a certain amount of resistance to work right. if more than 2 are burnt out, the controller just clicks on and off.
That is certainly stored better than the one I've purchased a few months ago. I can't seem to get mine to get running.. I don't really know where to start.
I am sure the ignition tumbler issue is what they call the acutator. Pot metal linkage the links the tumbler gear the the rod going to the switch at the bottom of the column.
I'm surprised it started so easily as they are known for air intrusion in the fuel lines making them hard to start when they sit for a while. Usually, you have to go thru the bleed procedure with that motor.
Is a regular push bottom. One wire to the positive and the other to the starter signal in the selenoid.. i got few home made with alligator clips and helps when your alone
Old parking brake cables like to freeze up (after you've applied the brake, of course) AND the drum likes to rust to the brakes. Had the same exact problem with my '90 F-250
😂 I try my hardest to sweet talk em first. The sauce can do some damage for sure, especially in the Detroit 6.2/6.5 idi motors since they usually crack the heads or blow the aluminum pistons
Automatic and n/a?! Looks like a lot of work swapping out the trans, adding a clutch pedal, and adding a turbo ahead of you to make it an actual worthwhile truck. 🤷🤣
@@southernrevivalautomotive you know what I mean lol, n/a auto is just not the most desirable truck. I'll take a turbo 5-6 speed any day of the week, otherwise I'd go anything 5.9 turbo Cummins. 🤷🤣

Them old 7.3 idi are king tho. Powerstokes are good, but the idi is just......spartan and rugged
Gotta love them old idi motors.
They really are in a league of their own.
Go blue!!!!
Save the Snapper mower too! That's a super early one. I love those things.
I don’t care if its a ford f-series ,Buick park ave , or autozam az1 I JUST LIKE THIS TYPE OF CONTENT
Thank you! More to come!
Amazing, it’s good to see all the gauges working in the cluster
My 85 6.9 sat for 17 years and with not a bunch of work I got it running, have now been driving it over a year, I just hit 100k miles
I hate to say it, but it's probably closer to 200k, especially if it's one of the 5 digit odometers. 🤷
@@jrkbgk1111 it was my grandpas truck
Truck is immaculate, no rust, no dash cracks at all, don’t even have to glow plug it when it’s cold, it will fire right up
LOVE IT!

Just to show ya with a little know how you can bring these trucks back to life great show brother 👏 🙌 😎
Yes! Thank You!
Just put my 87 6.9L 98K back on road after 15 years of sitting. Here in SW no rust but sun is murder.
My dad had a 84 model with the 6.9L and a 4 spd standard. It was one of the most dependable trucks that I remember him owning.
Those old trucks are notorious for shutting off when it’s revved up. ATF in the fuel tank and filter will fix it it just takes quite a bit of run time
Great old truck ! Bring it back to life and clean her up !!!
We will!

Interesting. I knew they had issues of air intrusion. From fuel heater plug on top of fuel filter housing and the return lines.

Part 2 will be out soon and the Ol' Girl gets a much needed bath and some maintenance.

Id like to have that ol truck
Great video budd
Thanks 👍
Unbelievable 😮.

Nice work brotha!!! Awesome truck!!

Very nice truck
Thank you!

I don't really know where to start.
What is the story in yours?
I saw a truck looked like it for sale in lower Alabama about ten years ago but the seller never would answer the phone.
Happens a lot
As a french dude Im jealous I will never be able to drive one of these...would be a nice rig to move things around...

I will show what the issue was in Part 2 video.
Nice find!
Thanks!
When’s part 2!!! Lol good video
It’s out. Thank you for the feedback
Bro I’d buy that truck, been looking for one of those
Me gusta esa camioneta y es diesel para mi rancho exelente 👍
Damn nice pickemup
Street Legal Tractor

Cranked on her for a good bit. used the WD 40 to help lubricate the top end while the fuel pressure built up
I got a second gen ranger I can spruce up for ya lmk! I just need get something different asap getting bored of the platform
Blount county proud
Yessir
Ooo I see the snapper comment lawn mower sitting there
How much do you want for it?
Beautiful! Love my bricknose 351w, but 4x4 diesel would be awesome!
Sounds good at idle
You need glow plugs or glow plug relay or the harness it's self is bad if it clicks like that there is to much resistance in the system.
Replaced those in Part 2 video coming soon
love the video
Thank you
Would you like to sell the truck
what is that startup remote device, how does it work?
Is a regular push bottom. One wire to the positive and the other to the starter signal in the selenoid.. i got few home made with alligator clips and helps when your alone
What he said. Available at any parts store. Buy two, so you have one when you misplace the other 😂
Quantos HP? ?
I regret selling my 92 idi replaced all fuel components even added an electric fuel pump for better starting.
I put a thermo king electric fuel pump in my 89 , have a glass that you can see the garbage , remove, clean and put it back.never again had fuel issue
Electric fuel pump in the way to go. Will help out the batteries and starter as well
It seemed like the emergency brakes were on or seized
Could have been seized. Possibly the brake cylinders rusted
Old parking brake cables like to freeze up (after you've applied the brake, of course) AND the drum likes to rust to the brakes. Had the same exact problem with my '90 F-250
I have the same truck in gray
Bought it in 1992
Awesome!
Tough old idi
Yessir
Needs a new set of glow plugs and a new glow plug module and she’s good as new. That engine will last your lifetime and then some.
Part 2 Video the Truck gets a WELL Deserved clean up and Maintenance .
It is available
Snag that old snapper mower people collect them
Forest Gump would mow all day on that sucker
@@southernrevivalautomotiveit used to take me all day to mow my yard with one of those
What is the push button thing you’re using to start it?
handheld remote starter. found at any auto parts store. it just completes a circuit, can make your own easy enough as well.
I'm a Chevy guy any day and I hate the history behind ford, but damn that's a nice truck.
maybe share what the problem was why it didnt start back then?
Part 2 is coming soon!
It was the ignition switch in the steering column. Covered in at the end of part 2.
So loyal.
Duuuuude youre suppose to use cosby sauce on it and give it all of it.
😂 I try my hardest to sweet talk em first. The sauce can do some damage for sure, especially in the Detroit 6.2/6.5 idi motors since they usually crack the heads or blow the aluminum pistons
Want to sell it?
Will it be for sale or you keeping it?
part 2 coming soon!
If that had sat up north it wouldnt even be salvageable..
So true!
Nice truck but you don't use wd40 to start a vehicle it doesn't work use either clutch cleaner or easy start spray 👍
Lil TLC you get lotta miles out of it
J aimerais bien en avoir un comme ça en France ❤
WD doesn't start engines anymore, company took out the good stuff.

wd40 dont start diesels, silicone spray or starting fluid used sparingly
It was to lubricate top end. I use starting aid as a last resort.
I gonna find a 89 f150
