The Phaze II is the greatest ball that's ever been made. I didn't believe the hype until I was gifted a used one and had it re-drilled. There is nothing that ball can't do! If they ever stop making them I will have no choice but to purchase 20 of them so I'll always have one until the day I die 🤣
The phaze 2 being the historical benchmark, I think it would be a neat video to see all 5 Phazes used in a "battle" for best Phaze.
Can we have a video like this with the strong asym solids too? I think that would be super helpful
Wish I had a bowling shop like TV supply in Orange County California.
Same!
Go to Linbrook bowling
@@fbi10 Will do! I bowl there every sunday mornings but pro shop is closed. I live right next to fountain bowl.
@@pho_bowler oh so do I. The pro shop is closed Sundays but the guy that runs it is genuine good dude. Very knowledgeable and isn’t going to talk to you to try and sell you shit. He’s gonna be honest and help out. Fountain bowl is awesome lol you ever been to cal bowl in Lakewood ?
@@fbi10 I haven’t yet, so far just FB, Linbrook, Oak Tree and Westminster Lanes. Definitely will check out Lakewood soon! Fairly new to bowling and hopefully I can get better to join a league one day. I’ll take your advice and check out Keglers Korner.
Awesome video, extremely informative, and you clearly have vast knowledge of the SPI line. Also enjoyed the demo, showcasing the breakpoint shape differences of each ball. I just got back into competitive bowling last year after taking several years off, so I'm pretty behind as far as whats hot right now. My equipment isnt up to date, but also not too far outdated. Right now I have a UFO Alert as my go to/first ball out the bag, a Rubicon UC2 when I need something to push down the lane a little further, and a Hustle Ink polished up for when lanes reallt break down. First new ball I bought this year was a Global 900 Sublime. Was looking for something just a hair stronger than the UFO Alert. Im a rev dominant bowler so I dont necessarily need the strongest ball on the market to get the ball to hook, and I love my UFO Alert, its sometimes just a tad late on longer patterns, so I was hoping the Sublime would give me that look on Medium Heavy oil. Well, so far, not impressed with it, seems to read very late. Took it down to 3000 grit and still not happy with the results. So I just took it down to 1000 grit, haven't had the chance to bowl with it yet but have league tomorrow. If its still not giving me a good look I may have to look into actually buying a ball made for longer patterns. I generally stick with polished up equipment, mainly hybrids and pearls so I'm brand new to the world of dull finish solids, not really sure what I'm looking for. Anybody have any suggestions? Imitially my thoughts are either the Widow 3.0, X Cell, or Harsh Reality.
Really appreciate the reviews and this style of delivery. thank you
Bowling so much better after being fitted by Mr. Tang! Gonna need a couple more tho
Summit Ascent! It looks good. The weaker cover may make it more usable for me in my league houseshot since the Phaze 2 may be a touch too strong.
Nice to see this video is reposted! i was in the middle of watching it and it came up with "video removed by uploader"!
Also. That ion pro looks sweet.
Video back let's go! Definitely might have to get the Ascent at the demo
Great video.. you give so much information. Very overwhelming.. Where can i get one of you for bowling alley where i live?Thank you for sharing
Huge thanks for the video AND showing the rings. Really helps!
Any advice on a very sim ball to the Ion Pro but for...
Hammer - ?
Motiv - ?
BW = ?
Track - ?
Ebonite - ?
...as comparisons? I need something to balance out huge flarers like the eternity pi and The Road
I loved my original Marvel and replaced it with the Sure-Lock. Trying to find a great replacement for those balls.
Great info.
Great video!! I wonder wear the Xponent solid fits on this ranking. Would it be stronger or weaker than the Ion Pro?
Where would you put the original Summit in relation to those 4? I have one and have looked at all of those as additions to my bag.
I just picked up a Idol Cosmos. I see it was released in July of 22. Would you consider this ball to be a bench mark ball?
Thanks for all the vids and info. Quick question: my layout is 55x4.5x30 and I want more length, would you increase the drill angle or pin-pap?
Could an Ion Pro be a 1 - 2 punch for the Phaze II?
I own the Optimum Idol and Ion Pro both.... I typically start with the Ion and move to the Idol when I start to have trouble keeping the ball flush in the pocket. Honestly I don't know how I could incorporate a Summit Ascent into my arsenal. Now... the Idol pearl... thats a ball I'd like to have in my bag.😊
IQ Tour Solid
Im thinking about getting a new benchmark ball. I have the Track Heat Ultraviolet, what would be the closest for shape out of the balls you reviewed?
2 handed lefty...need help building a competitive arsenal 16-17 mph 450-500+ revs
Since you’re a lefty you’ll have to approach this differently. You guys typically have to worry about how much your ball shapes rather than actually generates traction so you’ll want to get balls that would be considered ‘round, smooth, earlier rolling, etc. I’d say two good options to start with are the OG Summit and the OG IQ Tour. Make your way to Luke Rosdahl s channel if you want to learn more.
"Terrible shot!" *strikes* Who am I watching, the other Tang brother?
It must be in our genes!
Mikey , what secret mission i gotta do to get a tvbowlingsupply shammy
Ball recommendation for a beginner? I've started playing league last year invited from a coworker. I just throw house ball pretty much straight I was thinking about getting a ball and learning.
Try a Roto grip Hustle
@@christianjo7887 thanks will look into it
Y’all think a polished hustle USA would be a good benchmark ball?
Is the attention star considered a benchmark?
😮 My head is spinning! I've been bowling since my first balled drilled for me was a Black Beauty... I have absolutely no idea what any of the stuff you have said means(stronger/weaker/low-hi dif/RG/cleanest)... You start talking about it, I feel like JoeyTribiani on Friends!!! Just nod the head and pretend you know... I just throw...
Is anyone still throwing their OG Rubicon? Interested on how the Rubicon compares to the Summit Ascent
Rip the Goat !QTS.
She’s here to stay don’t worry
Hammer Effect vs Ion Pro ... which would you choose??
Probably the ion since he’s sponsored by Roto grip
liked, commented, subsribbled
Its like everything he throws goes sideways 😅
NO STAR????? WHY NOT..????
I hate that bowling in the last decade has become more about buying more balls and what those balls can do and less about the actual bowler learning how to properly bowl. When I was a kid growing up in the 90's it was very common for the best league bowlers (guys with 200+ averages) to only have one bowling ball. Once in awhile you'd see guys that would have a 3 ball bag but even that was fairly rare. These guys could use one bowling ball on every condition and still found a way to bowl their averages! Fast forward to today and now you got all these guys with 150 averages with $3000 dollars of bowling balls and they're always talking about a new ball coming out that should help them fix their game! It's honestly laughable to see how the sport has evolved. It's less about learning how to bowl, and more about buying that next ball that "MUST BE IN YOUR BALL BAG!" 🤣
I agree, that used to be me. I took a 30 year hiatus and when I came back I was still bowling with a Columbia U2. It was still working well for me but it had side weight so I couldnt use it for league play. That was 3 years ago, and now I have 7 balls (mostly because I bowl the Storm Rotogrip League and get a free ball every year).
But I have learned this year that it really does come down to learning how to use what you got. My newest ball is the Optimum Idol and at first I thought the same as you... It doesn't hook that much. But give it oil and time boy does that ball hook!
My inventory:
Optimum Idol
Idol Helios
Ruby !Q
Halo Solid
Widow Ghost
Match-Up
No Rules
And I still have the U2
Reupload?
Idk
I think so
Messed up the original so had to reupload🥴
Question: core numbers are significantly different from a 14 lb Ion Pro versus 15 lb Ion Pro. I use 14 lbs so will there be a significant difference in ball motion?
No AI core. If the website is correct.
The website says that the summit ascent has an ai core, just like all the summits.
@Seanph25 I mentioned the error to Storm. They updated the website "technical specs" page now has AI core. Until this morning, it had "light weight core" shown. Thanks
Iq???
No attention star?
Not a benchmark ball… it’s a clean responsive cover, big int diff. It’s when lanes breakdown and open up.
I really wish your shop was closer. I already drive 2.5 hours one way to get my equipment drilled by my PSO in Indianapolis ( @Hoodiebowler300 ).
