  • I'm no Chris Harris, but even I can tell you she still needs some work! I'm back on the road in the classic 5 series, attempting to drive across Toronto to get a quote on repainting my V8 manual E34. With any luck I might make it there and back!

In Greece, a decent full paintjob,(no prepping by yourself required),should cost around 2000 euros, just around 2000USD.Good luck chasing your electrics, usually the motors are at fault.

The price seems very reasonable. If that was in Melbourne Australia, that would cost roughly 5-6 k USD.

Yeah Ronin is def top 3 in terms of movie car chases. It has the long one in Paris but it also has the one in the countryside (might be south of France). The Bourne Identity also has a fantastic car chase, as do some Bond films, especially if there are Alfas involved ;-)

Here in Germany, for a full paintjob done by a good painter, 5-10k €.

I was wondering when the CEL would come on, the drive just doesn't feel the same without it. Also look at that intro, BOOM BOOM BOOM, captivated.

I was about to say CAD3000.00, before you mentioned the actual quote. His price sounds quite reasonable, given that he is doing the inside of the doors as well. I would have just cleaned and buffed that area myself.

In the UK in my experience, the cheaper "fitting in between jobs" type paint jobs never happen or get rushed after having the car for months / years. Don't go for cheap, always agree a deadline, get a recommendation from car club / friends / forums or Facebook (with proof of a good job) and ask to see some jobs as they 'finish' them. It should not be stressful. As a rough guide 8 years ago, it was £200 for just a wing (Fender).

I’m in estonia and here it would be like 2,5-3k euros😀 for e34.

A guy here in Charlotte NC told me $2500 for my 95 540i, so that's pretty consistent.

For a full respray I don’t think that’s too bad I never had a car repainted but I think that’s a reasonable price

Maybe check your wheel bearing too; sometimes they make noise while turning

Dude, who needs 'hair' when you have 'air', bald and stubble is considered very sexy these days especially with shades! Hell there ain't room for hair follicles anyway, due to all the testosterone in there! The E34 is barely audible even at full throttle, ahh what a sweet engine. And I agree about Ronin, can't remember any of the plot only the car chase. I'd say a 250 bucks for a full respray, but it would take around a hundred rattle cans!!! Seriously though, your price quote sounds ok if the quality is high and he has the correct facilities such as a paint booth and oven to bake/harden the pain. Last thing you want is dust particles trapped in the paint.

As a Ducati monster owner from this era and a straight six BMW I confess that their engines sound make you forget all the reliability issues and flaws.

I think that is a little pricey. You are doing a lot of work yourself. Your not changing colors. I would think 1800-2000.

Good to know! At this point I’ll pay a bit extra for quality and peace of mind and hope it turns out looking really good 🤞

@@DeadEndRestorations Florida. Again, your doing the hardest part. That is why I think it’s a little pricey. If the guy does great work and your happy. That’s what matters most

I just spent 3 days working on the valley pan, intake, and all the parts that came into my hands. All of this because of a coolant leak. Guess where I found a leak on the test drive after 28 hours of work... It happens
