The long-awaited FINAL REVEAL - finishing my classic BMW V8 restoration after 2 years of work

  • After 2 years, hundreds of hours and over a dozen RUclips restoration videos, I finally finish restoring my 1995 BMW 530i 5-speed manual and make it look like it just rolled out of the showroom. Lots of blood and sweat and held-back tears went into this build and I'm extremely happy and proud with how it came out.
    HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way!

    Will be sorry to see the e34 go. The best of the marque, in my opinion.
    Great job! It's been very helpful, and will continue to be. Thx!!

    All I can say is wow, what a job!!! I have followed your restoration of this car with much interest. I am definitely a fan of the E34 its really a classic BMW in one of its best cars the 5 series. Like the detailed explanation and format its really good, keep up the great work I'm keen to see your new/next project. Will it be as nice as the E34... I'll still be watching in good old blighty!

      Thanks Tony!! New project is an E90 M3 with 6 speed manual, lots of engine/suspension/interior/paint correction work so should be fun!

    Congratulations on an excellent job. The door cards came out splendidly clean. I think some of the white nylon clips broke during assembly, but they are very easy to replace.

    Respect for sticking with it I remember when this car was on Kijiji in a sorry state. It’s come a long way. The values of 530i/5s are all over the place, so I will be interested to know what this one ends up going for.

      @DeadEndRestorations  Год назад

      Thanks man, im so all over the place with listing price too. Restored and mint E34s don’t show up on the classifieds often, debating putting it on BaT - thoughts?

    • @thewayforward8543
      @thewayforward8543 Год назад

      Canadian cars don’t do well on BaT, so if you go that route, especially if there's no reserve, I’d be cautious. Same with Cars & Bids.
      I saw in another comment that you were thinking around $20,000, just some constructive criticism, but I feel that may be optimistic. For example, here in B.C., an M540i/6 with 116,000 km went for $20K (only 32 were made). The car was mint and all original; just something to think about.

      @DeadEndRestorations  Год назад

      Ya definitely reserve is needed on those sites. Its not criticism, thanks for sharing I think I’ve seen that one on BaT… I haven’t seen any that are fully restored though so its hard to say but a 540/6 is about as rare as it gets before M5 territory

    Looks amazing dude, sad that you're not keeping her. Sorry but the new project doesn't do anything for me, too generic. The e34 is almost a classic now and looks special on the highway that's if you ever get to see one these days. Really enjoyed the series, great wry commentary, great camera work despite being in a confined space and great editing. Good luck with all your future endeavours and thanks for creating these videos.P.s. a final test drive video of the e34 in its finished state would be nice! 😎👍

    It looks great. Let me know what you are looking for $. Mine has only one problem. The rear door cards covering shrunk and has left a gap at the arm rest. Not sure what I am going to do.

    It's unbelievable how crap the quality of even OEM parts is nowadays, my lower door trim pieces also arrived new from BMW and bent like bananas. They look a bit out of place on your doors, you should slightly bend them inwards and push up at the same time, there should be no gap between the trims and the lower part of the door where they attach. Then they will move into place better. E39 door gaskets can be trimmed down and used if anyone else is watching this and doesn't fancy paying 200 euros per one gasket.

      Ya replacing these 4 and repaiting them added huge cost and headaches to fixing an E34 - but when you want it to be perfect… thanks for the tips!
