The rework of the close combat mode arms is kind of neat. The older version of the aesculapius had a single solid bar holding the arm gauntlet in place. This made it a bit more limited in terms of how much the arm could flex. Adding Shenlong style segments seems to make it much more posable compared to before.
Aesculapius is the Greek god of medicine and his staff with a snake is still used as the most common symbol for medical care along with the cross of the Hospitallers (a Christian knightly order created during the first crusades to allow places to stay for pilgrims and to look after them as well, they also fought being knights like the Templars). No idea why they chose this name for this character as I do not know his story arc but he looks damn cool!!
I HAD the original Version of this Gundam Kit many years ago. Unfortunately, it was damaged beyond repair. Glad to see it back, although annoyed it’s only PBANDAI exclusive….
The thick black panel lines do make the kit a bit "fluffier" than it should, definitely needs thinner or lighter panel lines to make it look good, a consistent aspect of models that have lots of white. Since you covered the transformation aspects a lot here, that reminds me: will you be taking a look at the Real Grade GaoGaiGar when it releases later this year?
@@halimahkaulan7399 I'm not anti thick if it applied in neat way if you using marker but not applying it carefully, the marker strokes would be apparent. it looks like someone drawing them instead of making it like panel lines.
The Core Gundam, Core Gundam 2 and Alus Core Gundam set from Gundam Base has orange beam sabers. They do not catch the light though. There's also the Masurao from OO as well as the Catsith and Elf Bullock from G Reco.
I have the old school G units. This was my favorite the hydra gundam was neat but due to the age of the suit it keep falling apart. I have them put up with my HG models. Would love to have this as a MG. The transformation has definitely been up dated and the beam rifles and orange beam sabers make this kit unique. Will definitely get all the G Units but I'm in the middle of apartment hunting, so this is next on my list for getting.
Gundam L.O. Booster comes out next month in October. After that one we need Hydra Gundam, Gundam Burnlapius, Gundam Greipe, Leo-R, and Leo-N and that's all the main G-Unit suits I think.
Crazy this kit came out two years ago. And now im just now getting my Burnlapius in the mail today. Now we just need Greipe and Hydra, also Leo-R and Leo-N I also learned there were new gundams created for G-Unit so I wonder if we will get those too.
I still have and display the original. It has "Vigorous" orange blades and bad gold-ish stickers for the claws and the transformation is quite a bit simpler. I wish this version wasn't p-bandai as it was about 5x the price here than what I paid for the original. If the articulation was improved upon, then MAYBE it would be worth it for me.
also note that the G-Unit Gundams are meant to be slightly taller than the mainline series Gundam Wing Gundams as some type of call back to the height of the RX-78-2 which is 18 meters tall.
I absolutely love the Wing kits, yes even the original NG ones.. glad to see they get the "modern" updates and I am looking forward for more down the line..
Those beams were made with plastic that glows in ultra violet light/ black light. The HG Masurao from OO had the same plastic for it's beams, as it's the only OO kit I have. I think that there were a couple of kits in that line that had UV reactive beam sabre blades, I think Exia had some as well.
Mecha as for your next review. Daban a bootleg brand makes model kit versions of metal builds (fully plastic made) and recently they released model kit version of the metal build Amatsu Hana you reviewed last year. I would recommend you to try it out even if it is just to see how a bootleg model kit meta build compares to the original figure. I hope you can see this comment, love your reviews and I’ve following them since 2014. Much luck to you and your channel man
I wonder why we have a light green version of this unit back then? We bought it along with the Hydra and LO Booster G unit. I cannot find any google image similar to what we got. The weird thing is that the box shows purple but inside it is green. Do you have any idea?
Great looking kit, always liked the G-Unit stuff but spent way too much time thinking is was some kind of Astray/Seed spinoff before actually readying a Manga, lol. The Units name is pronounces Ess-sku-lay-pee-us. The Greek god of Medicine!
@@kirillkapaln4536 Yeah it's a mouth full of a name alright, it has the same sounding as Aegis which is pronounced with an "e" basically ignoring the "A" sound kinda.
I picked up the original version at a convention a few years ago (I think 2018 or 2019), and while I like the concept, the transformation on that was a bit clunky (especially with how the side chest panels tend to loosen, since they move to accommodate the armored shoulder pads for close combat mode), and the legs were just static armor with no transformation at all. Shows how much Gunpla has evolved over the past 20 so years.
When it comes to orange beam saber, Masurao comes to mind. Its also a cool katana shaped blade though not as nicely colored as this one. Ogre's suit blades from build divers and the efreet custom also has nicely colored blades but theyre heat weapons.
So I've done a lot of IBO HG kits and two MG barbatos my first real grade just arrived today it is the wing Gundam do you have any advice for somebody getting into the real grade line or just some advice about Wing Gundam in general
Right about the flimsy feel of these G-Unit kits. Quite worrisome to pose and move about as there’s almost no friction feel to the joints off the bat. I’ve lost confidence to go and get the land expansion parts due to these factors. Still, they are beautifully detailed and well proportioned too.
i actually had the original way back when. HAD. the whole thing fell apart on me. i don't blame Bandai though. the original Aesculapius was my first kit and I had little to no knowledge in what to do.
The HG GN-X IVs also had these orange beam sabers!
That they do

The fact that Bandai modernised Aescalapius design to this level leave me in tears 😭. Gundarium tier for the effort.
3:15 the Astrays and the G-Unit Gundams share the same mechanical designer: Junichi Akutsu (Bee Craft)

same, but I still have mine. it kinda looks like ass though due to the shitty paint job on it, but I love this suit, so I still display it.
I ordered this kit from P-Bandai and so far I am liking the aesthetic. This is a nice shelf piece and I am excited for it to arrive.

yep ,shoudlve used the tamiya ones to make it finer ,gundam markers sometimes kinda too thick and not clean

So glad I ordered two of this. Expecting mine to arrive next couple of weeks along with many others.
When you realize that Gundam Build Fighters foreshadowed this guy almost a decade ago.
Thanks Tatsuya
Do you, bye chance, know what episode this is from, would love to check it out
@@alexruiz9942 I think he's referring to the Amazing Z'Gok from the GBF GM's Counterattack movie. I could be wrong though
G-Unit has been around since forever though. This is an updated ver of the old kit, which was infamous for being one of the shittiest gundam kits ever
@@alexruiz9942 Episode 2
When Sei looks at Tatsuya's gunplay collection. One of them is the Aesculapius
@@weebcraft6829 Actually, it's one of the best NG G Unit kits.
But the Hydra Gundam is the best one.
After watching this I’m happy that I ended up ordering two of them. I will probably have to experiment with ways of making the Z’gok mode more solid.

Who's tuning in just to hear him say "Aesculapius"?
It's impressive that this sucker was still being used in the Correct Century (in the Turn A manga) of all Mobile Suits!

still impressed that bandai still didn't make a px (blue trans-am) and px override (super mode / yellow trans-am) mode version of those kits
Can’t wait for hydra gundam or gundam greipe

Yea,Hg Quan t and 00 raiser has some UV as well
G-reco’s cait sith also has orange beam sabers..that flip out of the leg. Such an odd kit.
Funny, I was actually looking into this kit a day or two back, now you post this!
G unit in the club,
Poppin bubs,
Rollin on dubs

If I can grab one I will, but sourcing daban kits here in Ireland can be quite difficult
@@MechaGaikotsu I see, here in Chile where I live the only source to get daban kits is through Aliexpress stores
The murdered the panel lining on this one lol
Glad to say I was able to get this on release 😎😎 can't wait for it to come in
Oh, this looks cooler than it does in the burnlapius vid.
you should really use an Accent panel for this smaller intricate panel lining, its so hard to watch those messy pens

I like the Combat Mode it’s a nice cross between Gundam & Hulk buster pretty impressive 😁😁.
The only other orange beam saber I know of is another G-Unit kit, the oooooold HG Hydra Gundam.

The best P bandai HG line is still HG RX-78-2 origin rollout colour.
Can't change my mind 😎
Now, all that's left is the Griepe and the G-Unit protagonist gundams will be complete
The HG Striker GN-X, from GBF Battlogue, comes with orange beam effects as well.
Mecha, did you ever review gunpla clear version? I just wondering the weakness on that version. Especially about the plastic. Thanks
After all this time...
The man does not use unit 1 and unit 2 chest camera stickers lol
Love the review

if Gundam Breaker 3 is to be beliefed, the GN-X III has orange or even leaning toward yellow beamsaber?
That tranformation is Insane and scared me
The Z'gok mode needs a marvel's juggernaut recolor
Hey bro, what do you call that thing where you put the parts? Like a board.
If Aesculapius is hard to pronounce, just say Gundam Ass-Clap-pee-use to make things easy XD
aesculapius first appearance is iconic,
Since this Gundam is named after Aesculapius, the Greek god of healing and medicine, I assumed this will be a support unit.
Might get it tbh.
Striker GNX also comes with orange sabers.
12:43 is that THE Han solo pose? If it is i knew that i’d recognize it also nice video :)
Now I'm glad I got the pbandai preorder for this 😎👍
Are the thrusters supposed to point right at the guns when slot on back :0 seems a design flaw.
7:22 yeah there are other kits that have them usually the GN-XIV build fighter try version
Do you like gundam flauros pink or the white and blue
Man! I really like this design. I was going to buy one but my mountain of backlog said….”nooooo” lol
So no planning to do geminias unit 2
Heavy ground Expansion part?
I thought the name says Gundam Applesauce for a second.😂
you didnt panel line a crevice on the right side of his chest, but overall I like how you did it, it looks like it jumped right out of a manga book
This would probably fit in with the ZAFT 2nd Stage gundams from Destiny.
Geminass was the strike gundam before "striker backpacks" were a thing.
@Matanumi also F90 with it's 26 Mission packs was Geminass and Striker packs were a thing as well.

now im excited with hydra
gundam griepe is a fking cool desing too... all the G-unit MS are hell good desings

The HG Striker GNX has orange beam sabers
striker gn-x also give orange beam effect parts
The hg g self had some sabers like that I believe
I am getting the zaku ll red version is there any tips to build the red zaku ll red version?

I don't really like the gunpla itself. But I still have to give it to BANDAI for the well-designed model kit
