Agree with one of the previous commenters, put together kits for the access cabs and sell them. There is a huge hole in the market for affordable access cab roof racks. The video was great. Thank you

Thanks for the video. I've been designing a very similar rack and your assembly process is very helpful to see.

I like the video! Question , I see it's third gen I have a second gen 2009 access can and have the same issue with a rack. You think this will work for mine and did you sorry about going thru the air bags?

i'd just add more of those plates in the t bar for future tie down points instead of drilling out the bar.

When you bought your extrusions from Tnutz, what series did you get? They have 10-30 series extrusions avail.

Great video. I've been trying to drill 7/16 inch holes in my access cab so that I can install a Sherpa rack and I've been having a hell of a time getting the bits to drill the holes. Amy advice?

New bits and lots of lube like rapid tap. The metals super hard up there I had a hell of a time drilling them myself. Get a few bits and drill slow with good pressure and lube.

Get a cobalt bit and WD-40

How did you locate where drill and tap?

  • @pog4life89

So you drilled and tapped the sheet metal roof?

It’s not sheet metal in the rain tray it’s like 3/8-1/2” thick. Way better than rivnuts people usually use.

@@IdleHandsThanks I was concerned how many threads you can get in there. Probably alot more of a pain and may poke thru headliner, but maybe could get a metal strap under roof to span both holes with nuts to thread into. This way its pulling on 2" span of metal and dont have to worry about thread depth, or thread durability (not to keen on threading layers of sheetmetal vs a solid nut with proper thread depth for given bolt to be stretched).
