30 years ago, pride meant something very different. We actually wanted simple equal rights. I wanted the right to put my partner on my health insurance at work. To be allowed in the preop and postoperative areas after her major surgery. I wanted her listed as my next of kin. I wanted to go to work and not be terrified if I slipped and said something about our relationship that I’d be fired. Simple. I expected nothing from anyone other than equality. Now? I want NOTHING to do with today’s LGBTQ+ “community”. I will not be compelled to say particular pronouns. I don’t need a celebration. Men are not women. Having men in women’s spaces is dangerous for women. Minors can not consent to GAC. I fully support trans people who want to live as the other gender. I just don’t want it to impact the rights of those around them.

In today's world, it seems like if I don't acknowledge a trans person and actually take them into my life enough to know how they want to be called, I'm an asshole, transphobic, etc human. The truth is, I don't care enough about 99.9% of the world to do that. It's not that I'm transphobic, I just don't want every person I meet to need an interaction longer than thank you, sir or madam. When I grew up, that was a term of respect. I hate how it's been twisted to be something horrible now. I'm a big ol gay who spent literally 20 years deeply embedded in multiple gay scenes across the country. I started to notice that straight people were being welcomed in as "queer" around 2017/2018. I lived with a TW during lockdown who told me that trans people experience the same pains as Women do, in response to me saying my Mother had her life ruined by a hystorectomy. Said TW said they experience pain every day in being misgendered or disrespected. It was in that moment I knew it was a crock of shit and I haven't stepped foot in the "community" since.

As a nurse I know the reality that there are different guidelines, even down to lab values, regarding biological men and women. It LITERALLY changes on the medical treatment they receive. For example, a male has a higher threshold for blood count, versus a woman. When I see a particular value for a patient’s hemoglobin, whether I recommend a transfusion to the doctor depending on the sex of the individual. Also, it could indicate internal bleeding, and if it’s a biological male, I will not include the uterus and/or ovaries as a differential for the source of the bleeding. We cannot erase the biological realities regarding men and women based on our emotions.

For the same reason women with PCOS aren't getting to compete with women. Because no one cares about what trans men do and this has never been a conversation about improving women's sports. It's about fear mongering over trans women in sports the exact same way the media used "unfair biological advantages" as an excuse to exclude black men from white sports teams. Naturally creating extra testosterone in the body when you have two X chromosomes is at this point a very well researched condition as well as the extremely shitty side effects of the medications that usually treat it and make the conditions worse and that's including Spironolactone. If we're defining the reason for excluding trans women well established on HRT from playing as "unfair biological advantage because of the Y chromosome" then we shouldn't be excluding women with high T counts that have documented PCOS at all and just focusing on the fairness of no performance enhancers.

There is a line that we all live by that is innately woven in us. We try to take care of those living amongst us with mental illness and that line helps us see right and wrong and what behavior to steer clear of. It noticable enough to state that the weakness of mind that is infiltrating in our society is the me me me, pay attention to me and every crazy thing i think.
She is a great young lady. I don't even know her personally but I am proud of her. However, you be the role model for the young people in your life. You, your mother, your grandma, your aunts, the women in you church, the women in your community. Not anyone on a screen. That's not fair to those women on a screen because they're eventually going to let you down. As a gay guy I think mental health, especially that of males, is a MUCH more prevalent issue nowadays than gay rights. Sure, go back to the 1960, 70, 80 and maybe 90's and you could probably pick out some inequalities and discrimination of gay people, but today, it's such a non issue that having an entire month dedicated to it, is literally just meaningless.

As a gay man living in England (56 years old) I live my life like anyone else, I don’t feel the need to have or attend Pride events. I don’t hide or deny my sexuality but that’s the point…..it’s my sexuality. I wouldn’t mind if the Pride events actually celebrated the struggles the LGB community went through but it’s primarily about self serving activists pushing more and more outlandish ideologies.
And that's your right. But if it were for the protests and marches that Pride celebrates, you wouldn't have rights. You don't deny your sexuality, and that's lovely, but not ago you have to, or you'd be thrown in a mental institution, and that's still what Pride is about even to this dày. It didn't used to be, it was a real movement to protect LBG, highlight discrimination, bring people together so they didn't feel alone, especially when it was harder to be 'out', and make connections. Now Pride in London often resembles an orgfest or a drug fuelled stripclub, most definitely x-rated and people take young children there to 'show their support' more than anything else. I know we are behind the times but here, in Inverness, it literally is a peaceful walk and info sharing with a party at the end of it, everyone keeps their clothes on (maybe that's our weather though!)

30 years ago, pride meant something very different. We actually wanted simple equal rights. I wanted the right to put my partner on my health insurance at work. To be allowed in the preop and postoperative areas after her major surgery. I wanted her listed as my next of kin. I wanted to go to work and not be terrified if I slipped and said something about our relationship that I’d be fired. Simple. I expected nothing from anyone other than equality. Now? I want NOTHING to do with today’s LGBTQ+ “community”. I will not be compelled to say particular pronouns. I don’t need a celebration. Men are not women. Having men in women’s spaces is dangerous for women. Minors can not consent to GAC. I fully support trans people who want to live as the other gender. I just don’t want it to impact the rights of those around them.

In today's world, it seems like if I don't acknowledge a trans person and actually take them into my life enough to know how they want to be called, I'm an asshole, transphobic, etc human.
The truth is, I don't care enough about 99.9% of the world to do that. It's not that I'm transphobic, I just don't want every person I meet to need an interaction longer than thank you, sir or madam.
When I grew up, that was a term of respect. I hate how it's been twisted to be something horrible now. I'm a big ol gay who spent literally 20 years deeply embedded in multiple gay scenes across the country. I started to notice that straight people were being welcomed in as "queer" around 2017/2018. I lived with a TW during lockdown who told me that trans people experience the same pains as Women do, in response to me saying my Mother had her life ruined by a hystorectomy. Said TW said they experience pain every day in being misgendered or disrespected. It was in that moment I knew it was a crock of shit and I haven't stepped foot in the "community" since.

As a nurse I know the reality that there are different guidelines, even down to lab values, regarding biological men and women. It LITERALLY changes on the medical treatment they receive. For example, a male has a higher threshold for blood count, versus a woman. When I see a particular value for a patient’s hemoglobin, whether I recommend a transfusion to the doctor depending on the sex of the individual. Also, it could indicate internal bleeding, and if it’s a biological male, I will not include the uterus and/or ovaries as a differential for the source of the bleeding. We cannot erase the biological realities regarding men and women based on our emotions.

For the same reason women with PCOS aren't getting to compete with women. Because no one cares about what trans men do and this has never been a conversation about improving women's sports. It's about fear mongering over trans women in sports the exact same way the media used "unfair biological advantages" as an excuse to exclude black men from white sports teams.
Naturally creating extra testosterone in the body when you have two X chromosomes is at this point a very well researched condition as well as the extremely shitty side effects of the medications that usually treat it and make the conditions worse and that's including Spironolactone. If we're defining the reason for excluding trans women well established on HRT from playing as "unfair biological advantage because of the Y chromosome" then we shouldn't be excluding women with high T counts that have documented PCOS at all and just focusing on the fairness of no performance enhancers.

She is a great young lady. I don't even know her personally but I am proud of her. However, you be the role model for the young people in your life. You, your mother, your grandma, your aunts, the women in you church, the women in your community. Not anyone on a screen. As a gay guy I think mental health, especially that of males, is a MUCH more prevalent issue nowadays than gay rights. Sure, go back to the 1960, 70, 80 and maybe 90's and you could probably pick out some inequalities and discrimination of gay people, but today, it's such a non issue that having an entire month dedicated to it, is literally just meaningless.

As a gay man living in England (56 years old) I live my life like anyone else, I don’t feel the need to have or attend Pride events. I don’t hide or deny my sexuality but that’s the point…..it’s my sexuality. I wouldn’t mind if the Pride events actually celebrated the struggles the LGB community went through but it’s primarily about self serving activists pushing more and more outlandish ideologies.
And that's your right. But if it were for the protests and marches that Pride celebrates, you wouldn't have rights. You don't deny your sexuality, and that's lovely, but not ago you have to, or you'd be thrown in a mental institution, and that's still what Pride is about even to this dày. Let's not forget that it was Queens and trans woman that started the riots that kicked off the gay rights movement.
And it's really doing more damage than we know. All the good work we did is being demolished by grifters and a corporate class that just sees the financial benefit of exploiting this movement. It didn't used to be, it was a real movement to protect LBG, highlight discrimination, bring people together so they didn't feel alone, especially when it was harder to be 'out', and make connections. Now Pride in London often resembles an orgfest or a drug fuelled stripclub, most definitely x-rated and people take young children there to 'show their support' more than anything else. I know we are behind the times but here, in Inverness, it literally is a peaceful walk and info sharing with a party at the end of it, everyone keeps their clothes on (maybe that's our weather though!)
