You're right. The Simpsons. I also found the theme of "Gone with the Wind" in one of Beethoven's cello sonatas. And part of the theme to the 60's show "Bonanza" in one of his early piano trios.
Back in 1986, shortly after combat in the Gulf of Sirta, while on an aircraft carrier, I wrote a short story in which the narrator, during alive performance of this work, experiences a flash of inspiration during the instant between the first and second variation. The story is 'The Klein Bottle.' My favorite recording of this work is one which I have loved since 1976: Szeryng, Rubinstein, and Fournier. Hoomeyow!!
Richard Church in the second part of his autobiography (The Golden Sovereign) describes hearing his brother play this at a friend’s house. He sight read the piano music and their friends played the string instruments. In his book the author states he only heard the once in1910 and here we are in 2023 being able to call it up at will
I'm here because of all Brahms' 24 (or 25) full-scale chamber works, this one is my favorite! Each movement is passionate, well-crafted and satisfying and together they comprise a chamber piece which fulfils Schumann's characterisation that "Brahms' sonatas are really symphonies in disguise."
@williamrappaport9203 0 seconds ago @johnkiunke4508, Andante is a “walking” tempo, not “going.” Andante con moto is a modified andante-it’s somewhat faster than a regular andante, but not enough faster to become another tempo indication.

The fourth movement is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good, kinda reminds me of the Simpsons theme but very vaguely.
It's more like the Jetsons theme--really modern sounding for a work composed in 1882!
The first five notes of that subject are the same as this one.
it reminds me of ZZ Top Back to the future

Katchen has to be one of the best pianists for Brahms

第1番から25年以上経って着手された第2番、若手のブラームスとベテランのブラームスの対照は非常に興味深いです。

Waaaaaaaay too slow. The second mvt. is so beautiful when played allegro
yes, but thats not what brahms wanted :)
Tempo is perfect!!
If the composer wanted a rapid tempo for the 2nd movement he would have written "Allegro" at the outset. The tempo here is perfect!
I agree it's too slow, Andante means "going" and on top of that he writes con moto
