Thanks for the video, they always manage to find me at the right time. I think of meditation as teeth brushing for the brain :) of course it is more than that but it helps to keep it in perspective.
I think that being precise with language around thinking and reality is important to avoid confusion. I have spent a long time with my head spinning because I did not understand what was meant when people say thinks like " Thoughts are not real" .
    - Thinking is a tool, and problems arise when we let it take over completely. The automatic thoughts generated by our mind are often aimed at keeping us safe, so they can't be entirely divorced from reality. But they don't necessarily reflect ultimate reality.
    - Social drama thoughts tend to be the most abstract and inaccurate. When caught up in social stories, it's important to honestly examine what's going on internally.
    - A noisy mind full of thoughts often points to unresolved issues that need to be acknowledged and processed, not just ignored. Sitting with arising thoughts and feelings is key.
    - The goal should be non-attachment to thoughts, not complete detachment from them. Resolving the issues behind persistent thoughts helps quiet the mind.
I recon that when dealing with something powerful like mediation and attempts at understanding of what is real and what is not it is important to clarify that there is nothing to be added or removed or changed, just understood. Just my 2c.

Yes, I think the analogy of brushing one's teeth is a very useful one - reduces the spiritual indulgence/spiritual privation dynamic
