- Gibson Les Paul Standard 1995 Guitar Repair/Restoration in my Luthier Workshop . A customer asked me to take care of his amazing Gibson Les Paul Standard in cherry burst from 1995. These 90´s Les Paul are great Instruments. I use to have a 1991 Standard in black and this was one of the best sounding Les Pauls I have every played. This beauty has a broken Headstock which is a common issue on this type of Instruments. I did all the work that has to be done to get it back on track. It was a pleasure working on this amazing Instrument. I managed to keep everything original and after levelling the Frets, cleaning the electronic and repairing other issues this Player is ready to rock.
No talking just the ASMR in my Luthier Workshop.

Gibson Les Paul Standard 1995 Gitarrenreparatur/ Restaurierung in meiner Gitarrenbauer Werkstatt.

Putting all that masking tape directly on lacquer is a very risky thing to do. I'm not sure why you needed it in the first place, but I've seen masking tape pull lacquer right off the wood.
So satisfying to watch. I'm a proud owner of '97 Gibson Les Paul standard. Fantastic guitars.
Nice figure in that plain top!
Always love a Petrek video 💪 great work as always!
Brilliant work 👌
Nice to see a headstock break repair without using splines. Splines are waaaay overused by many guitartechs. When you have a decent glue surface, there is really no need to use splines. I avoid using splines as much as possible and have never had any issues with durability.
One way to lessen the effect of bridge bending is to set the stop tail piece higher so the vertical component of the string tension is lower.
You should do some tutorials on your custom made tools! Your sanding beam looks intense! Lol
So happy to find your videos. I will be learning a lot I’m sure! New to guitar repair and maintenance - what is that you are spraying into the pots?
Great video. You did not do the fret crowning ?
You can bend that bridge back into shape at least once. There's a Canadian; TWoodford, he has a video up on how to do it.
Probably a dumb question, but does glue squeeze into the truss rod cavity? If so, does it have any affect on it's function?
Hi Petrek, lovely work! What spray do you use to lube the pots if I may ask? :)
My son at age 10 asked if he could take his first guitar to school and we as parents said yes . We realized the possible outcome . The teacher said they went to lunch and the door was locked. Upon return the guitar was discovered with a similar break to the guitar in the video . He was devastated . He thought His dad was gonna come down on him like a wall of bricks. We told him it was okay. That we new something could happen and that we would replace it if needed but first lets try and fix it. I glued and clamped it . I explained to him the glue was stronger than the wood and it will be all right That was in 2005 . I played it last week to check on it . Just needed new strings. He went on to be quite the player and I gave him more guitars as he grew and developed . That old guitar has done a lot now and is cherished by a few . I hope its around a while longer.
