Hey young lady, my wife and I discovered this (your video) two years ago as we began our transformation to a healthier life journey. This deodorant works great. Better than any we have ever tried. So I just wanted to say thank you very much and keep up the good work.

Hey, I started watching your videos two days ago. I became obsessed with your videos and lifestyle. Now at 1:30 am (I live in Germany) I am watching this video...some Info: I always suffered from heavy sweating and well...I never smell good! I apply tons of Deodorant every day and even then I still smell it. I am a 21-year-old woman and it started when I was around 15, I always felt very ashamed in public and never went out without an deodorant in my handbag. I also smelled directly after a shower. So now to the present: I just watched your video and thought "why not giving it a try" so I just applied it and for the first time in 6 years I DO NOT SMELL AT ALL!!!!! I am sitting in my bed crying because your video just changed my entire life. Thank you soo soooo much!!!!

I work as a dog walker (so I sweat A LOT during the day), and this recipe is the most effective, cheapest and least toxic deodorant EVAR. Thanks for sharing! I would say that I use about twice the amount of arrowroot powder, because baking soda can be rather harsh on the skin. Even when I've mixed it 5 to 1 (arrowroot:baking soda), it works great.

Hi guys! So, I tried this recipe (with cornstarch instead of arrowroot, and i added citrus oil) and I'm using it for one month now. In the first few days, I sweated a lot because of all the toxins getting out of my body but i never smelled bad. It works for 24h+ (then you should put on fresh layer) , like, it even holds the whole time when you're going to a concert!! and it actually brightens up your armpits a bit. You only have to put on a little bit, so it won't stain clothes.
    Thank you, Sarah!! xx

If anyone is wondering, yes, this does work! I eat a lot of Indian food (Indian dishes typically contain a lot of spices and onions which contribute to body odour), but I put this on and then danced for 20 minutes and I was pleasantly surprised to find that I didn't smell at all! Thank you for making this video :)

I always find Indian people smelling of sweat, was wondering why they have such a strong body odour, it makes sense now. Curry dishes are very strong smelling and our bodies will release this through our skin

Best natural deodorant I've ever used is Liquid Chlorophyll, taken 1 - 2 tablespoons per day in water or juice. Helps rectify blood pH imbalances, helps digestion, and helps detoxification without causing other issues.

Great idea to add the lavender! I've gotta try this =) Also, in general, plant based diets don't give rise to horribly unpleasant body odors (except maybe if you eat too much garlic). It's mostly processed foods and animal products that cause nasty smells.

I substituted baking soda as it irritates me and used bentonite clay which is as well beneficial for skin and draws out toxins. I added essential cypress oil for woodsy scent and in summer I use bergamot any oils is nice. We need to sweat as not to clog our lymph nodes. 👍

Okay so this is AMAZING! I had quit using deodorant for a while now, just because I felt it wasn't worth it... (my health!) And I finally decided to give this a go and I LOOOOVE IT!!!! :) After an entire day of working my armpits smelled like... nothing! Just felt soft and clean and fresh.... Honestly, this has worked better than any deodorant I have ever tried and now I actually feel good for using this :). Like a little treat for my skin! Thanks so much!
P.s. I made it using the coconut oil, arrowroot powder, baking soda and lavender essential oil. I made it like you did but had a much bigger jar so decided to make more and just eyebawled it, really. Added what I felt like adding more of. I really don't think you can go wrong with this :). As long as you use the essential oil sparingly you're good!

You can substitute the arrowroot powder/flour for cornstarch, which is also known as corn flour in some places. I recommend using one of these powders because it absorbs sweat, which is awesome because you will want to sweat but make it seem like it isn't there. I hope that helped!!! :)

Yay!! I'm so glad it worked for you too :) It will keep for awhile (I've had mine for a couple months and it's still good). If you're worried about it going bad, I would try and keep it away from humidity (bathroom) and you could try adding essential oils which can have natural preserving properties :)

I have fibromyalgia and I remember it started roughly after I sprayed myself with a ton of antiperspirant deodorant for days one summer. I didn’t just use it under my armpits. But my entire torso. Also had been using it for years before that on underarms. Fibromyalgia isn’t actually an illness itself but a multitude of symptoms caused by different things. I wouldn’t be surprised if mine was caused by heavy metals/toxicity.

Baking soda is about an 8 on the ph scale, while our skin is about a 5.5. Using a substance this alkaline on your skin can cause serious irritation so be careful! The Aluminum used in antiperspirant deodorants is also very safe and effective, as shown in numerous case studies. Aluminum is simply a metal just like iron or zinc are metals. More often than not, it is fragrance in traditional deodorants that can cause issues for people. The compounds in synthetic fragrance and essential oils have been proven to be very unstable, and are a very common source of contact dermatitis for people. An allergy to aluminum is very unlikely, but if that’s the case, VaniCream has an aluminum free deodorant without the alkaline ph or fragrance :)

It is baking soda, coconut oil and Arrowroot Powder. You can use Corn Starch as a thickener in lieu of Arrowroot powder, but it makes sweat spots show in medium clothing until you wash them. It is also good to add a few drops of a natural antiseptic to aid in killing bacteria. Lavender is good; I use tea tree oil, but many people are allergic.

I always tell people to switch to a natural deodorant, because most people aren't even that stinky!
BUT it's only after being off of the antiperspirants for awhile, like you say, that people even realize this.
The ingredients like aluminium, just clog the pores and sometimes irritate them( not the mention it just accumulates in the body). I'm glad you made this video. I haven't made deodorant myself, but already use paraben-free and aluminum free deodorant, so this will be interesting to try!

I tried this and in short it works however there are a few caveats, I live in a hot and humid climate so if I put it in the fridge it becomes solid and if I keep it outside, the oil separates so you have to mix it up a bit. Second, it leaves a white residue on armpits so don't plan to go sleeveless. So the best option is to BUY natural deodorant.

one good tip i learned recently is to apply coconut oil on your armpit using a cotton ball before taking a shower. try to rub it a little like you are cleaning your pits with it. then you can shower right after. you can spend the whole day without any deo and u won't smell at all. this would not stop you from sweating but i guess a good trick to stop sweating is not to think about it at all. i was so conscious about it when i was younger and it aggravated the whole thing. now that i am older and more confident, i rarely notice if my pits are wet or not. if they are, i don't care.

That's so cool!! I used to have a deodorant that was alcohol and lemon juice, I think by the brand Weleda. Thanks for sharing, maybe I will try that myself :)

That's amazing!!! My mother and I have been trying to find a way to not use store bought deodorant. What she has been doing is only putting eucalyptus essential oil on her pits, which smells amazing! You should add some to your deodorant.

Hi Sarah! Thanks for the video! I just used the Coconut Oil with the light Baking Soda dusting and it kills bad smell unbelievably well. (Hey that rhymed!) The only problem is it really stings my underarms after a few hours, and pimples formed after a few days. I reduced the amount of B.S. but there was still pain. The C.O. alone was painless, but the smell killing effect wasn't the same. My Brother had the same issues. I read through all 230 comments in case someone had posted a similar observation and/or answered it, but observations won that battle 3-0. Any suggestions? btw we love Dr Mercola and your other videos! Following all the way from Kenya! :D

Fresh lemon or lime juice does the trick for me.
If your urine smells bad when you go to the bathroom; make a lettuce tea. Boil some water, drop a lettuce leaf in the water, let it steep for 15 minutes, drink it. Works like magic!

oh no?! I have never noticed this. It could be because it's not an anti-perspirant, so you are still getting sweat stains? I'm sorry about that, I hope it comes out!
