I use coconut oil but still at first I had to focus not to vomit, cause it was nowhere close to being tasty. After several practices of oil pulling it got better and I got used to it.
My husband and I just started oil pulling every morning. He has genetically bad teeth and it helps heal cavities since teeth are porous and it pulls out the toxins. One thing to keep in mind is that you must use a toothpaste free of glycerin while you are pulling. Glycerin coats the teeth so much that you'd have to vigorously rinse your mouth an estimated 27 times to remove it and it inhibits remineralizing or the rebuilding of the teeth. Also avoid any pastes with sodium phosphate because this is an endocrine disruptor and effects hormone balances. And, finally, fluoride acts as a neurotoxin to humans and can cause fetal brain damage if used while pregnant or even cause children to go into an early puberty. It has also been said to be linked to bone loss. Fluoride is actually banned from use in water in most countries.
I was sick for a whole week and finally gave in when I was terrible on the weekend. I did 10 minutes of coconut oil pulling (my nose was running too much hehe) and a shot of apple cider vinegar and i felt SO much better the next day. I will forever do oil pulling!!!
I use coconut oil and I mix it with peppermint oil and xylitol (because xylitol remineralizes your teeth). I love this combination. Thanks for your wonderful video!
I use coconut oil. I began oil pulling about 1 month ago. It has really helped my cavities, whitened my teeth, its like flossing at the same time since everything stuck between my teeth is removed, tooth aches have lessened and also the oil has strengthened my teeth.
Coconut oil is the one I use (and personally the only one I can stomach - all the others taste too strong for me). Been doing it for about 3 years now and genuinely can't imagine not doing it now. At first the 20 minutes seemed to take forever, but now it just flies by. One thing worth noting - if you do use coconut oil don't spit it down the sink as when it cools it will harden again and clog up the pipes!
I'm afraid so! Don't worry, it actually goes hard, like the animal fat off a meal you might have prepared and want to get rid of. Just pop the pieces in the bin and you are good to go.
I oil pull on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. After that is done I rinse my mouth out with water with a tiny pinch of sea salt in it. By then it is time for my morning porridge and once that has gone down with a cup of coffee - time to brush my teeth! I'm not sure if the brushing is really necessary as when I am finished oil pulling, my mouth is actually squeaky clean (and that is before rinsing with water) but I guess I do it more out of habit than anything - and I like the taste of Arm and Hammer toothpaste. If you give this a go would love to know how you get on :)
Hey guys, this is my 5th day of oil pulling, it really does work ! My teeth is alot whiter than it was before - just 5 days now ! I've been using "refined" coconut oil because its the only type of coconut oil found at home lol. Alot of people been saying that "refined" oil does not bring out great results, but it worked for me lol. Sooo if you're lucky enough to have "unrefined" coconut oil at home, i guess you'll have double results then ! Anyways lets keep working on it & get a brighter smile hahaha !
omg, my first experience was crazy already. i sloshed around some sesame oil for 20 minutes. the time went by way faster than i'd thought. i spit it out, rinsed a bit to get the oil out, and call me strange, but i took a look at the _visible_ bacteria that came out of my mouth- and there was a lot. it definitely got out the bacteria that brushing couldn't get to. i'm not sure if this is just me, but aside from a small headache from sloshing around the oil, i already felt better and refreshed. My teeth included if that's even possible. no seriously. what is this magic? im not sure but now i know i'll be doing it everyday xD Thanks, Sarah. You never cease to amaze me.
Rafael Cozzarelli you can use any kind of oil, as long as it's safe to put in your body, just in case you swallow some. Just use your common instincts on what type of oil to use. If you get confused, just choose a typical oil that you would cook with. I've heard coconut oil has the most benefits. I just used regular sesame oil, and it worked totally fine. And no, it doesn't have to be organic, but it would be better if it is.
I just started oil pulling today with coconut oil! I just had my tonsils out 2 weeks ago and now have a painful overgrowth of yeast in my mouth. m My daughter bought the coconut oil and told me about your videos. I started with 5 minutes (baby steps)and the discomfort in my mouth has gone WAY down! Thank you so much! 😄
I love oil pulling . I have noticed it helps sore throats , bad breath and it's actually not as bad as it sounds . I love using unrefined organic coconut oil .
My doctor recommended me this when my gingivitis went to stage 3 and now my gums are back on my teeth and I take better care of my oral hygiene at first my breath would smell nothing helped then my gums got pockets and I was scared I was 17 at the time now I'm 18 with great teeth again \(^o^)/

Change to an all natural toothpaste as well. Make sure it does not contain glycerin. My favorite toothpaste is Earthpaste made by Redmond. It comes is several flavors and contains bentonite clay. I love it! It doesn't foam, does not contain any fluoride, artificial flavors, bleaching agents, or glycerin and is safe to swallow.
My mom suggested oil pulling when I got a tooth ache which was due to cavity and couldn't visit the dentist due to some reasons. I tried it instantly. Everyday in the morning before brushing your teeth or eating anything. My tooth ache went away in a week and my teeth whitened a lot! Many people noticed my whitened teeth too!
I'm 60 years old & went to my dentist last month who told me my gingivitis had turned into periodontitis despite regularly brushing & flossing. Guess i just wasn't flossing/brushing as thoroughly in the back of my mouth as I thought. Now I have to go in for treatment every 3-4 months. I was not happy. I mentioned this to my daughter a week or so ago & she said to try oil pulling. I had never even heard of it before but went online to check it out. I already had coconut oil in the kitchen (always do), figured I'd try it out, can't hurt, might help. So for about 1.5 weeks I've been pulling in the morning AND after dinner, before bedtime (I'm swishing right now before leaving for the pool). I've already seen a difference--my teeth are a little whiter & there isn't as much plaque as before. When I brush & floss my gums don't bleed as much, my whole mouth feels better. I go back to the dentist in June & I am anxious to see if he says my condition has improved. At first pulling was uncomfortable but I got used to it, I goof around on the computer while doing it. I also recommend using unrefined coconut oil. I had a jar but was almost out, when I finished I switched to another jar, not realizing it was refined oil. What a difference--it was gross. I don't taste it after the first minute, but I'm getting another jar this weekend of unrefined oil & keep the refined for cooking. Anyway, I just wish I had discovered this method years ago.
I know this comment was from 2 years ago, but I was curious if you used solidified refined oil and warmed it in the microwave, or if you bought some already liquified oil? Thanks, I hope you have a great day!
This was really helpful, I did it once while I had a detoxweekend. But now I'm thinking of oil pulling every day in the morning! Thanks girl! Greetings Yvon
I just started oil pulling today and it is definitely something to get used to! my teeth are really sensitive and I can't get professional whitening done because of how sensitive they are. I am really exited about doing this!!
I have just started and use coconut oil. It makes me heave when I first put the coconut in, but soon settles down it melted. My teeth feel so clean afterwards. I am trying to get my gums healthy as they bleed easily as I suffer from dry mouth because of medication and as i get sleep apnoea and am a mouth breather. I don't to lose any more teeth and want to keep my immune system healthy. Good video it really helped ❤️❤️❤️
After watching your very informative and interesting video I decided to conduct some research on oil pulling benefits myself and came across an article that had this excerpt: "People use different types of oil such as sesame and sunflower oil, but these oils both have omega 6 fats that are pro-inflammatory, and most of us have too much of these in our diet as it is. Coconut oil is preferred because 50% of the fat in coconut oil is comprised of the bacteria whooping ingredient lauric acid. Lauric acid is very well known for its antimicrobial actions; it inhibits Strep mutans that are the primary bacteria that cause tooth decay. " I know you mentioned in your video you also use coconut oil. I reckon I'll combine coconut oil with some peppermint oil for freshness. I had never heard of this technique before stumbling across your video so thank you so much!
anapitu72 Sorry for the late reply, according to various sources olive oil if it's fresh, extra virgin and cold pressed is anti inflammatory. However most people wouldn't use it because of the strong flavour and so swishing it around in your mouth for 20 minutes wouldn't be pleasant. Almond oil is another option that imparts a nutty flavour or alternatively avocado oil which tastes very clean and is mild in flavour can also be used :)
Juliette Kratochvil thanks for your answer! I've been using olive oil for 2 weeks now, I don't really mind the flavour (guessing I'm already used to it, in Spain we use it a lot), let's see what my dentist says ^^
Oil pulling is good but make sure that you're under the supervision of a dentist and primary care doctor. A lot of people who practice holistic living tend to ignore doctors. Holistic living is great, just remember to listen to your doctor because they spent 8 years in medical school for a reason. No attacking, I'm here to help. God bless!
Alice the Great yes but you also have to remember that the doc wants to make money and not all of them actually care about their patients and some only care about money. I have encountered quite a few just like this

Native people in america/asia/africa had good teeth with correct occlusion because they ate solid natural food, they also had good hygiene, she wasn't talking about europe lol
I thought it was bs like a lot of trends, but I was bored so I tried it and I liked the clean feeling afterwards so I kept doing it from time to time without any expectations. But after a while (sometime I did it 4 times a week sometimes not even once for like 3 months) I noticed that the upper part of my teeth which tends to be more yellowish than the lower part was now white as well. So my teeth had a uniform colour finally, something that I couldn't even get after the dentist. What I used: olive oil conclusion: I don't think that oil pulling lightens the teeth (lighter than thir natural color) but it indeed cleans it very well, so will make it sort of white in the end. It also reduces bad breath, although for that I highly recommend buying one of those ayurvedic copper tongue scrapers.
I watched your healthy hair habits video two years ago and I give you all the credit for the healthy habits I've adopted for my hair (I still have my Calia conditioning spray and wooden brush btw!). That being said, I am ready to try this every morning (:

This sounds like a terrible question but can I oil pull with braces on? And after we're done lol pulling can we just brush our teeth like usual or should we brush before and oil pull
I had braces and I did this. Just recently, I got my braces off and now I have spots where my brackets were. I suggest you not make that mistake like me
Katie Marie Hu? It's temporary. Your teeth will likely stay straight for life while the spots will disappear with time if you take care of your teeth, ie keep them clean and eat nutrients for them to remineralize (regular food will do). I can't recall mine stayed like that for very long (a month maybe!?).
I heard about oil pulling before, but I never thought I wanna do it, because I felt this disgusting and I didn't believe I can do it. You are talking about this so nicely and you just convinced me, so I decided to give a try, and.... that was just unbelievable. I didn't have any gagging and surprisingly I was pulling oil all 20 minutes like you recommend, in my very first time. Since then I implement oil pulling to my morning routine. Literally I'm looking forward to do it. I feel like without oil pulling my mouth wouldn't be clean enough, and my all body really needs this thing. I'm using rice oil, because it's very light and almost tasteless. This is my favorite base oil to remove my make up and cleanse my face. Came out that is also good for oil pulling as well. Thank you Sarah for making this video. I wouldn't give a try to do it, if not YOU. ❤️ Thank you so much ❤️
After watching a couple of oil pulling videos on RUclips I went out yesterday and bought some Coconut Oil. I usually hate anything Coconut. It isn't too bad. I already have 4 or 5 teeth that have crumbled, so I don't know how effective this will be.
I have searched to web, and I can't seem to find any answer, but is it bad for your teeth to brush them right after oil pulling? It is VERY bad to brush them after eaten or drinking anything other than water, but what about coconut oil? I already have a bit damaged enamel, and I am afraid to do something worse to them.
Great video, I learned a lot. I suffer from periodontal disease and I have plenty of cavities. I really want to try oil pulling because I've heard a lot of positive things about it. What brand of coconut oil do you recommend?
Don't forget to run HOT water as your spitting out the oil & let it run 20-30 seconds. This will prevent the oil from slowly clogging your sink pipes. Oil w hot water keeps oil from becoming a solid in your pipes, especially coconut.
You've explained this perfectly - thank you for making such an informative video! I'm totally going to give oil pulling a go, and maybe buy that book ☺️

I started doing this in the Summer of 2014 and had to stop after 3 months because even though I did see a huge improvement in my teeth and gums overall, my face stated to break out really badly. So haven't done it since them but I miss it so much!!!!
Wow I think my face break out as well but the benefits of using coconut oil that I luv im going to continue and hopefully my face clear up .you can also put it on your face maybe try that as well...
great job on explaining oil pulling, thumbs up!!!! I like oil pulling with MCT (medium chain triglyceride) coconut oil because the little amount that stays in your mouth after spitting it out is really good for your body in producing keytones and will not break your morning fast especially if you oil pull early in the morning before working out on an empty stomach :))
+Chardonnay Barlow Rinse your mouth thoroughly, brush after 30 minutes. The tooth enamel softens after food contact, dentists advise not to immediately brush after eating, same with this although it isn't food. I would hope people brush first thing in the morning though.
I only had sesame oil at home., so I tried it. I thought that using sesame oil would be the most disgusting tasting thing ever and... I was right. I'll buy some coconut oil later today, sounds a lot more appetizing. I'm gagging just thinking about sesame oil in my mouth now. Thank you for the tutorial.

Hi there!! It s been a week now and my gums are more pink, they never bleed ( I ve always tended to have gums problems) and now that s gone. It also seems my teeth are getting whiter but the main difference is on how clean and healthy my mouth looks and feels, I ve been doing it daily, first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking anything for 20 mins, it s not "fun" but it works, I highly recommend it!
Thank you! I've been doing this for a couple of days and already have been seeing improvement. My teeth feel more stronger because I have sensitive teeth and have like 3 cavities. By the way, I just saw this but thank you so much for replying to me!

Wow! I'm 6 years late learning about this. I hope it's not too late but I've been hearing about Oil Pulling from many naturalpath persons. I just bought my coconut oil and will be Oil Pulling as of now. By the way, you did a great job explaining
When I used coconut oil on my skin my (small amount) of acne actually got worse even though it was a great moisturiser and makeup remover it made my acne worse!
From what I remember acne is a sign of the bacteria leaving the body. Since warm water opens the pours in order for the body to avoid over heating you can clean your face then apply the oil. I've heard of lemon helping cure acne, but this depends as each person is different.
you shouldn't use coconut oil on your skin unless your skin is really tolerant to it. it has a 4 on the comedogenic scale I think. it's going to clog your pores. something better might be argan oil or jojoba oil for your face.
If coconut oil is the only thing you use at all along with eating clean, your skin will get better. Acne is one of the body's ways of showing that you are not completely internally healthy.
+ruby craig oh, well maybe try using it once a day or every other day until your skin gets used to it, but maybe you broke out more because it was pulling the dirt to the surface as acne, but after a while it might clear it away
I did the baking soda/coco oil mix and brushed my teeth. The taste was unpleasant but it seemed to dissolve the 'hard to get' plaque that I get because my teeth are extremely tight which makes them very exhausting to maintain even with regular brushing and flossing . I didn't notice immediate whitening but im sure I will if I do this like you said once a week.. But Im really pleased with how smooth every crevice of my teeth are! finally! Thanks for the advise keep up the good work:)

I use coconut oil but still at first I had to focus not to vomit, cause it was nowhere close to being tasty. After several practices of oil pulling it got better and I got used to it.

Try getting Trader Joe’s triple filtered coconut oil. There’s a small taste
You can add a few drops of peppermint essential oil to it
Sesame oil is better than coconut oil in taste and benefits
Wait so what do you recommend then? Any brands?
Okay what
I've watched a bunch of these oil pulling videos and yours is the most informative one so far. Thanks.
Agreeing on the informative part 🙋♀️ I will definitely try oil pulling 😃
I was sick for a whole week and finally gave in when I was terrible on the weekend. I did 10 minutes of coconut oil pulling (my nose was running too much hehe) and a shot of apple cider vinegar and i felt SO much better the next day. I will forever do oil pulling!!!
I use coconut oil and I mix it with peppermint oil and xylitol (because xylitol remineralizes your teeth). I love this combination. Thanks for your wonderful video!
Great tip!
Yikes , I don't think xylitol is good for you !
It's best to use cod liver oil for remineralization. You can find lemon flavoured cod liver oil , it tastes much better .

I'm starting to like the taste of coconut oil
I use coconut oil. I began oil pulling about 1 month ago. It has really helped my cavities, whitened my teeth, its like flossing at the same time since everything stuck between my teeth is removed, tooth aches have lessened and also the oil has strengthened my teeth.
I've been oil pulling since 1-16-13 ,that's when I had my first cavity , and in less than 2 weeks my cavity was gone, this really works
I choked on the oil when I was doing yoga
good job.
I died.

Currently oil pulling for the first time, definitely a feeling you have to get used to, I don't think I can last for 20 minutes...lol

I guess that means the toilet also? So we gotta spit it out in the garbage?!
I'm afraid so! Don't worry, it actually goes hard, like the animal fat off a meal you might have prepared and want to get rid of. Just pop the pieces in the bin and you are good to go.
Delilah Winchester Do you oil pull after or before brushing your teeth? Or do you not need to brush your teeth at all?
I oil pull on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. After that is done I rinse my mouth out with water with a tiny pinch of sea salt in it. By then it is time for my morning porridge and once that has gone down with a cup of coffee - time to brush my teeth! I'm not sure if the brushing is really necessary as when I am finished oil pulling, my mouth is actually squeaky clean (and that is before rinsing with water) but I guess I do it more out of habit than anything - and I like the taste of Arm and Hammer toothpaste. If you give this a go would love to know how you get on :)
Delilah - Can I ask a dumb question? Do you just put the oil in the bin or do you flush it? Would flushing it be bad for the pipes, too? Thanks!
I watched this video while oil pulling haha

Hey guys, this is my 5th day of oil pulling, it really does work ! My teeth is alot whiter than it was before - just 5 days now ! I've been using "refined" coconut oil because its the only type of coconut oil found at home lol. Alot of people been saying that "refined" oil does not bring out great results, but it worked for me lol. Sooo if you're lucky enough to have "unrefined" coconut oil at home, i guess you'll have double results then ! Anyways lets keep working on it & get a brighter smile hahaha !
Did my FIRST oil pull! WHILE watching your video! Thank you for all your insight! Love & Light GLP

omg, my first experience was crazy already. i sloshed around some sesame oil for 20 minutes. the time went by way faster than i'd thought. i spit it out, rinsed a bit to get the oil out, and call me strange, but i took a look at the _visible_ bacteria that came out of my mouth- and there was a lot. it definitely got out the bacteria that brushing couldn't get to. i'm not sure if this is just me, but aside from a small headache from sloshing around the oil, i already felt better and refreshed. My teeth included if that's even possible. no seriously. what is this magic? im not sure but now i know i'll be doing it everyday xD Thanks, Sarah. You never cease to amaze me.
Hi! What exactly oil you use ? , i wanna do the oil pull but im like a little confused about what oil or mark use , the oil need to be organic?
Rafael Cozzarelli you can use any kind of oil, as long as it's safe to put in your body, just in case you swallow some. Just use your common instincts on what type of oil to use. If you get confused, just choose a typical oil that you would cook with. I've heard coconut oil has the most benefits. I just used regular sesame oil, and it worked totally fine. And no, it doesn't have to be organic, but it would be better if it is.

My mom suggested oil pulling when I got a tooth ache which was due to cavity and couldn't visit the dentist due to some reasons. I tried it instantly. Oil Pulling + Fasting = Overall Body Healing!
really interesting -- I think I'm going to try this!
Did it work?
Oh my gosh . I tried this before and its really working

Can you use argon oil or no?
I know you mentioned in your video you also use coconut oil. I reckon I'll combine coconut oil with some peppermint oil for freshness.
I had never heard of this technique before stumbling across your video so thank you so much!
I've been doing this for 3 weeks now and my teeth have gotten whiter! Plus. The benefits are just the cherry on top!
+Juliette Kratochvil what about olive oil?
thanks for the extra bit if info.
anapitu72 Sorry for the late reply, according to various sources olive oil if it's fresh, extra virgin and cold pressed is anti inflammatory.
God bless!

What I used: olive oil
conclusion: I don't think that oil pulling lightens the teeth (lighter than thir natural color) but it indeed cleans it very well, so will make it sort of white in the end.

I can't recall mine stayed like that for very long (a month maybe!?).
so the spot where the bracket had been layedand glued was yellowish Katie Marie or was it around the bracket it was ellowish
ok thank you
Eunicorn's Way when I got them off, where the brackets were, it was yellow. But it did fade away (:
I am really prone to ulcers in my mouth because I constantly bite my cheeks. Oil pulling helps heal them up really quick!

Don't forget to run HOT water as your spitting out the oil & let it run 20-30 seconds. This will prevent the oil from slowly clogging your sink pipes. Oil w hot water keeps oil from becoming a solid in your pipes, especially coconut.

Great video, I do that for 3 years and I'm so happy !!!
I started doing this in the Summer of 2014 and had to stop after 3 months because even though I did see a huge improvement in my teeth and gums overall, my face stated to break out really badly. So haven't done it since them but I miss it so much!!!!
does that happened because of the oil pulling thing?
Yeah though my sister has been doing this now for 6 months and she only broke out for the first 3 weeks then it just went away and now she's fine
Could it be the toxins leaving your body through your skin? I'd continue to do it and see if the breakouts settle down after a while.
Wow I think my face break out as well but the benefits of using coconut oil that I luv im going to continue and hopefully my face clear up .you can also put it on your face maybe try that as well...
Look up black seed oil and its health benefits. Do you think its a good oil to oil pull. Its a anti inflammatory oil.
great job on explaining oil pulling, thumbs up!!!! I like oil pulling with MCT (medium chain triglyceride) coconut oil because the little amount that stays in your mouth after spitting it out is really good for your body in producing keytones and will not break your morning fast especially if you oil pull early in the morning before working out on an empty stomach :))
"a lot of the information I'll be talking about is 'pulled' from this book" xD
Do you brush your teeth after you oil pull?
+Chardonnay Barlow Yes
Ok, I had never heard of this before so I want to make sure I am doing it right when I try it lol
+Chardonnay Barlow Rinse your mouth thoroughly, brush after 30 minutes. The tooth enamel softens after food contact, dentists advise not to immediately brush after eating, same with this although it isn't food. I would hope people brush first thing in the morning though.
It’s best to oil pull before brushing your teeth (according to the videos I’ve watched)

Laura Guevara. Hi, love your videos. I want to know, I can brush my teeth with regular toothe paste after oil pulling cause I want to heal my cavity and turn my teeth white?
Laura Guevara start at 10 mins first
girl you need to learn how to swallow LMAO
So after aproximately how many oil pulling sesions will your teeth be whiter?
From what people say here, it takes from one week to see small changes, then a few months, to see big teeth whitening results.
I love oil pulling, and have been doing it for a year now. My teeth have gotten so much whiter. Thanks for the additional info. I am definitely picking up this book!
A better way to make people do this is by saying, look at my fucking teeth, they're majestically white, here's what I do
Should I brush my teeth when I wake up then do oil pulling or oil pull first then brush teeth ?
First oil pull then brush your teeth :)
did your teeth get whiter?
You should brush after, because otherwise you are leaving a lot of the bacteria you have removed with oil pulling on your teeth and tongue
Brush afterwards cause the toothpaste could act as a barrier for your teeth and make oill pulling less effective
Wow! I'm 6 years late learning about this. I hope it's not too late but I've been hearing about Oil Pulling from many naturalpath persons. I just bought my coconut oil and will be Oil Pulling as of now. By the way, you did a great job explaining
Can some, a chemist or anyone, explain WHY oil pulling works?
She explains it within video
+Savannah Hope I'm vegetarian and eat very clean, I cleanse my face every night and the acne I get is in my family genes
