I used up my .98 cent covid gas that was stored in Wavian cans-non ethanol with stabil. Almost 4 years and it ran great in my pickup. It’ll last longer than we think if properly stored in air tight cans.
Just used up the last of my 70 gallon tank from around then too. Lawnmower / generator juice. Have to replace it at 2.39 a gallon which isn’t bad considering what the price was recently.
I've had issues with Stabil in the past, even just a year old or so. I found and use a product called PRI-G _(or PRI-D for diesel)_ it is also used by a lot of ships. I've had non-ethanol premium fuel 10 years old, runs fine. Probably don't have too, but I dump a few ounces in each tank _(55 gallon drum)_ once a year or two just to make sure it maintains strength. Good stuff. But the most important thing for anyone is to start with non-ethanol fuel, as ethanol makes fuel go bad faster than anything else. Especially if running it in small engines like chainsaws, and even in lawn-mower type engines to some degree.
Watching you is like going to school, but much more entertaining. With every video I gain valuable knowledge into all kinds of things. Keep up the great work you are doing Wranglerstar, and know that you are appreciated. Thank you
I got mine with a quick connection change to go between a 120V inverter for a wall outlet (garage) or a step down converter to use a Milwaukee M18 battery (portable for car camping). I am using the original tank (added filter and upgraded fuel lines) but I really worry about some sort of failure on the cheap tank so this was inspiration to upgrade. Thanks Cody!
Hi Cody. In norwegian army we have fuel pick up hoses to jerry cans. just open the lid and put on the "lid" whit hose and pick up filter on. same way you put nosel on. when the can is emty just put it in the next jerry can. and close up the emty wone. Its jused on for example outbords. no mod to the cans.
Thanks for the kind of stuff a father should teach his son I lost my father in my early teens, thank you for filling in the gaps. I will surely pass this knowledge on.
On my old gasoline emergency portable backup generator, I had installed a Johnson-Evinrude fitting on a tee with an A/B/Off valve, I could hot-swap an outboard motor fuel tank by switching to on-board tank then switching back to the remote tank once the swap was complete. It worked quite well when we were without power for 9 days during Hurricane Sandy. “Act accordingly” I believe is the operative phrase😊
You can put that same pickup tube on a plastic diesel can with no mods if it has the collar that goes around the filler. To me this has big benefits, you can quickly swap fuel cans without shutting off your heater, you have multiple fuel tank options in case yours gets damaged, its easier to go unnoticed filling a couple 5gal cans if that becomes a concern.
Place a fender washer onto the holesaw over the pilot bit to prevent the teeth from grabbing when the drill bit initially punches through. Then, remove the washer to complete the hole. This can save the teeth from catching and breaking. This can also prevent damage to the pilot bit. This trick is most important when using a very sharp (new) hole saw and/or going through soft metal...

I did this 4 years ago. That bulkhead pick up tube comes with the other style diesel heaters for the remote mounted plastic tanks that come with it. That's exactly what I use for the diesel heater fuel tank in my motorhome. For a vent I just drilled a tiny hole in the fill cap.

This is where a plastic 5 gallon diesel can works perfectly. All you need to do is trim down the round flang on that lift tube until it’s the interior diameter of the cap. Remove the funnel neck, gasket both sides of that lift tube flang, and screw it into the tank. I bought replacement caps to ditch those damn safety caps and it’s the best 15 bucks you’ll spend.

Hi Cody, i really like your style of videos and your attitude of appreciating the simple moments. Here's just an idea for a tent. The tent you heat with a diesel heater, you may consider proper insulation and roof reinforcement. Our greenhouse has a similar construction but sheds snow with no problem. A second tent with a roof with a huge pitch could help shed snow, buildings in our mountains have crazy roof pitches like 60 or 70 degrees and no snow stays there. Not telling you what to do, just possible alternative solutions to burning fuel 24/7 to save the tent. Have a blesed day.😃
I made this years ago with the old style Jerry can. I used marine fuel like quick disconnects and fitted in the center of the jerry can lid. I just picked up a 100 gal transfer tank that came with 55 gallons of off road fuel that will be used in a diesel heater. I am thinking about using a 6g marine fuel cell as the diesel tank.
That will be a very robust fuel reservoir for your heater! I used a $15 5-gallon HDPE carboy from Amazon, it works fine, but my setup is stationary and I fill it in place. Your setup will be perfect for swapping a full can for an empty.
A lot of small low compression diesel stuff, especially heaters, can run on a mix of 50% used motor oil (filtered) and diesel. I run my truck on it. It gets a little less "mpg" but it has a little hotter burn and you can turn the pump down and run less fuel because of it.
