The only thing I have a question on is, how is the lag on a target in motion? I'm assuming it's fine within 50 yards... but when you're dealing with 200+ yards... lag time equals missed opportunities. That's why analog is still king.

Man, there is another miracle of modern tech out finally that is a dedicated rifle optic. Check into the dnt thermnight. It's a thermal & ir digital nightvision scope. Several dif reticle to choose from & has Sony starving sensor. 20x zoom. It's way way higher quality than I expected at it's price point of $1000. Even has built in laser range finder with compensating software to put you on target at whatever distance out to about 800yrds, maybe 600? Can't remember exactly. It's claims 1000 yrds but realistically more efficient at between 6 & 800... but check out thermnight scope... wow. looks just like the arken optics zulus but with day/night ...thermal...& range finder. Love the content brother. Will keep yall in prayer... 👍

As someone who owns quality analog NV I’ve always told people to get Gen2+ tubes before getting digital NV. Of course Gen3 if one can but most people who are deciding between analog and digital it’s because of funds. I’ve always wanted thermal and they are pricey. This thing here for 4K is a great deal having both thermal and NV. It’s pretty cool. It’ll be a while until digital NV is up to par with analog but having the thermal in the same unit is pretty cool. Also though quality thermal helps you positively ID things. You said at distance you couldn’t tell what something was. With quality thermal you can. Then again it’s a total different realm of price so there’s that.

The beauty, to me, about your reviews is that you think aloud as you go through the steps, and you're pretty much looking for the practicality and functionality of the item; essentially, DOES IT WORK? Can it do the job for which it was intended?
Then, comes the question - is it durable and well-built?
No matter what, and in every single one of your videos, from day one, you've stayed true to anything you endorse, and your standards have remained high quality, and above all - TRUTHFUL.

Please make more videos on this unit and comparing it. Also be careful of “burnout”. I just bought an AGM and looked at my wood stove with it and it cuts off for “burnout protection”. I think it doesn’t want us to look at very hot things like the sun or wood stoves lol.

This technology is old, it was available when the movie was released, it's just been miniaturized over the years. The one in the original movie was meant to be mounted on a helicopter, and probably cost half as much as the helicopter.

If that G24 mount he sent you came in that plastic box, that's a knockoff mount and I definitely wouldn't be using it to run any night vision on in.

Are there lens covers you can use while operating? Something you can see through, protects the lenses, and prevents lens reflection.

Thermal and Night Vision are still relatively young. Had you bought a VCR in the early 80s, you would have paid over $1,000 for the cheapest one available. Far better ones were available by the end of the 80's for as low as $129. Same for computers. I paid over $3000 for a 33mhz processor speed PC with a 125MB hard drive and 4 megabytes of RAM. Now I can buy an infinitely faster and better PC that makes it look like an Etch-A-Sketch for a couple hundred bucks. Give thermal technology a few years and the same will be said for it. People who paid $4K for this will be dismayed when their friends who waited pick up superior ones for $400.

That super premium, cutting edge night / thermal optics are coming out of China… on the commercial market, is kinda concerning I guess? I’m sure their military versions (like in the USA) are better still.
    Love the show my friend.

Pretty sure you should mount it behind the optic. Wouldn't it impact zero if you're shooting through a camera?

Back in the 80's a Canadian Ranger [ spec ops ] allowed me to look through his night vision goggles and I saw an asteroid flying through SPACE with them, so this tech is really nothing compared to what the world's military special forces have.

I bought after decades of buying NV the ATN Thor is $3k Flir you can get the highest level about a grand more .. I can see birds at 3500 feet in total darkness and it’s razor sharp and records Being a weapon sight with range finder that compensates I would not give China 4k for anything. Atn also lets you trade up and repairs but I’ve never had a issue and it runs 20 hrs on a charge And nothing that has blood can evade Even thru foliage . I also dropped in a swamp no water damage . It’s a stand alone unit you can quick detach. The Gen 5 is out 60hz on sale $2400 updated .

not always and in fact most the military use go on after the optics, maybe we mean the same but are using different terminology here but I mean as in in front of the optic farthest away from your eye

Nope. This unit just isn't designed to be used with a magnified optic. It works great with a red dot.. THOUGH.... This unit has a built in reticle, allowing use as a dedicated or stand alone optic.
