The only thing I have a question on is, how is the lag on a target in motion? I'm assuming it's fine within 50 yards... but when you're dealing with 200+ yards... lag time equals missed opportunities. That's why analog is still king.
Man, there is another miracle of modern tech out finally that is a dedicated rifle optic. Check into the dnt thermnight. It's a thermal & ir digital nightvision scope. Several dif reticle to choose from & has Sony starving sensor. 20x zoom. It's way way higher quality than I expected at it's price point of $1000. Even has built in laser range finder with compensating software to put you on target at whatever distance out to about 800yrds, maybe 600? Can't remember exactly. It's claims 1000 yrds but realistically more efficient at between 6 & 800... but check out thermnight scope... wow. looks just like the arken optics zulus but with day/night ...thermal...& range finder. Love the content brother. Will keep yall in prayer... 👍

How suspect are you of that holding up to repeated rifle recoil. I’ve seen enough red dots fail that I would definitely be worried about small electronics and chip failure in that use case.

We have one of these in the emergency car for doctors. These are fenomenal in search and rescue where you can see animals that are missing or people that are unconscious or hiding in the woods. I took a bottle and threw it as far into the forest as I could and you could see it right away even after 10 minutes. These are very good.
Having gotten to try one of the Shinenyx fusion scopes out at the Overton meetup this year, I can say they are phenomenal! I own Gen3 WP 2500+ FOM PVS-14 and, though these don't have the resolution the analog has, they're so much more versatile! Especially because you can use them during the day without fear of damaging the internals.

The acog is magnifying your view of the screen. Using the red dot with the digital magnification might result in a better picture. Who knows, but the tech is amazing!

At least it has that "second wave excitement," like maybe this will be something cool to enjoy in five years when someone's making it for under a grand.
As someone who owns quality analog NV I’ve always told people to get Gen2+ tubes before getting digital NV. Of course Gen3 if one can but most people who are deciding between analog and digital it’s because of funds. I’ve always wanted thermal and they are pricey. This thing here for 4K is a great deal having both thermal and NV. It’s pretty cool. It’ll be a while until digital NV is up to par with analog but having the thermal in the same unit is pretty cool. Also though quality thermal helps you positively ID things. You said at distance you couldn’t tell what something was. With quality thermal you can. Then again it’s a total different realm of price so there’s that.
There is nothing wrong with either of these setups on their own / independently. But having them side-by-side in their observed configurations - strange indeed.

If you're using night vision and you ever have to take it off with a monocle you don't lose your natural night vision in the other eye and you can see much better.
I never understood why these companies just dont add a video overlay off crosshairs to make it a dedicated scope if necessary. Its like 3 lines of code and makes it incredibly useful

You have no way of actually comparing analogue night vision with this digital version without using it on a good moonless night. I’ll keep my Pvs 14 and probably will add a thermal clip on at some point. The outline feature is amazing. If this item was 1500 bucks I think it would be worth it.
The combo of thermal and ir is a game changer. I picked up one for less than $400. Def china. Wasn’t sure what I thought about mine until I saw this video. Now I know I love it. I use it not just for sport but as a tool in my construction business to show people heat loss in their homes.

Next thing you know he starts bragging about all his high end stuff. Good for wrangler star but this is getting ridiculous. He appeals more to millionaires now than regular Americans. Spending hundreds of thousands of dollars “in case” is pure madness and paranoia. If I lived out that way ,if the shtf , I know where Id be robbing.
Could be handy to give to the wife as a handheld. So she can be with the kids in a dark place. Give her something she's comfortable with operating with white light and this thing.. Maybe get a marker for yourself and the war band so she knows it's you 😂.
Use a prism it will work better with the red colors. It has an etched reticle so the reticle is always there. You get to choose illuminion red or green. I like that I can still use a prim even if the battery dies
Please make more videos on this unit and comparing it. Also be careful of “burnout”. I just bought an AGM and looked at my wood stove with it and it cuts off for “burnout protection”. I think it doesn’t want us to look at very hot things like the sun or wood stoves lol.
This technology is old, it was available when the movie was released, it's just been miniaturized over the years. The one in the original movie was meant to be mounted on a helicopter, and probably cost half as much as the helicopter.
Thermal and Night Vision are still relatively young. Had you bought a VCR in the early 80s, you would have paid over $1,000 for the cheapest one available. Far better ones were available by the end of the 80's for as low as $129. Same for computers. I paid over $3000 for a 33mhz processor speed PC with a 125MB hard drive and 4 megabytes of RAM. Now I can buy an infinitely faster and better PC that makes it look like an Etch-A-Sketch for a couple hundred bucks. Give thermal technology a few years and the same will be said for it. People who paid $4K for this will be dismayed when their friends who waited pick up superior ones for $400.
That super premium, cutting edge night / thermal optics are coming out of China… on the commercial market, is kinda concerning I guess? I’m sure their military versions (like in the USA) are better still. Love the show my friend.
Brother, without using the rubber eye shield you will glow like a Christmas tree for someone using analog eye vision looking at you, whether you have it mounted on helmet or rifle.
Back in the 80's a Canadian Ranger [ spec ops ] allowed me to look through his night vision goggles and I saw an asteroid flying through SPACE with them, so this tech is really nothing compared to what the world's military special forces have.

I bought after decades of buying NV the ATN Thor is $3k Flir you can get the highest level about a grand more .. I can see birds at 3500 feet in total darkness and it’s razor sharp and records Being a weapon sight with range finder that compensates I would not give China 4k for anything. Atn also lets you trade up and repairs but I’ve never had a issue and it runs 20 hrs on a charge And nothing that has blood can evade Even thru foliage . I also dropped in a swamp no water damage . It’s a stand alone unit you can quick detach. The Gen 5 is out 60hz on sale $2400 updated .

Nope. This unit just isn't designed to be used with a magnified optic. It works great with a red dot.. THOUGH.... This unit has a built in reticle, allowing use as a dedicated or stand alone optic.

Unless it has a Risley prism or other way to correct for misalignment u are gonna get a POI change when u mount that in front of your sighting optic.

$1200 for a AMG rattler on palmetto right now if anyone doesn’t want to spend $4000 on this one. Works pretty good out to around 300 yards.

I got a return from Amazon for under $700. They can be hit or miss and I was ready to return it if it wasn't right but it was a keeper.

No. The 90$ amazon versions do... because they are REALLY cheap and garbage sensors. This unit emits zero IR.
This optic has a built in multi reticle that you can zero when using it on a firearm. You can also turn it off for use as a monocular.

If that G24 mount he sent you came in that plastic box, that's a knockoff mount and I definitely wouldn't be using it to run any night vision on in.

I bought after decades of buying NV the ATN Thor is $3k Flir you can get the highest level about a grand more .. I can see birds at 3500 feet in total darkness and it’s razor sharp and records Being a weapon sight with range finder that compensates I would not give China 4k for anything. Atn also lets you trade up and repairs but I’ve never had a issue and it runs 20 hrs on a charge And nothing that has blood can evade Even thru foliage . I also dropped in a swamp no water damage . It’s a stand alone unit you can quick detach. The Gen 5 is out 60hz on sale $2400 updated .
Night vision scopes go on before regular scope, not after. I have one that clips onto the scope itself.
not always and in fact most the military use go on after the optics, maybe we mean the same but are using different terminology here but I mean as in in front of the optic farthest away from your eye
Nope. This unit just isn't designed to be used with a magnified optic. It works great with a red dot.. THOUGH.... This unit has a built in reticle, allowing use as a dedicated or stand alone optic.

Digital night vision is looking better and better, would you be willing to look at a more budget (but still skookum) night vision monoculars called the NVG30's? They look pretty good for the guys who are balling on a budget. Thanks!

The prices are coming down, it’s reachable not cheap no but having the night vision thermal and it’s a tool that’s in this time would out you ahead of the game.
