Ironic that a vision issue kept a sniper from being something else.

You do know that this has happened many times with lots of people in all different kinds of military positions right?

@@timothydixon2545 For sure. Just pointing out the irony due to vision when the whole point of being a sharpshooter is the ability to see. It would seem if there was any job in the military where proper vision is needed it would be a sniper position.

Bad red/green myself. I went Navy and had 4 choices in 1971. Maybe not a badass warrior but I served proudly as an amphib sailor for 4 years.

I am also severe red and green color deficient and it's crazy how you don't know beforehand because you still see those colors they just look different to everybody else and you cant explain what they look like to other people because you don't know what regular colors look like in the first place to be able to give some kind of comparison to everyone else who sees color the way you're supposed to

Yeah my father in law was color blind when I would go some place with him I was like redlight redlight redlight but he was in WW2 in the pacific he would call in artillery fire he didn't see green or red so hiding in the jungle didn't help them much I seen the man spot rabbits in greenbrier bushes and act like I was blind for not being able to see them

I came in with a group of guys to be a Gunnersmate in the Navy, and a guy failed and cried the same way. Hadn’t seen him after the inoculation process.

Another color confused person here. A lot of it is the composition of certain colors, besides the standard or common red & green lots of colors are composed of basic colors so something like the purples can also drive you crazy. As a kid I just ignored it as I do see color, just not like most people but it does hurt in school, like identifying rocks in Geology. Since red & green seems to be the most common problem I don't see why other combinations are not used instead.

Becoming a green beret is extremely hard and a longer on average time frame than the seals and the Rangers don't know if believe this guy.

This is why Delta force recruits those from Green berets and army rangers since they already have some years of experience and know the basics
