    • @EddieSchirmer
      @EddieSchirmer 5 месяцев назад +3

      the "springs" is really just the waste water (perfectly clean just mineralized) of the power plant. what happens is, the water and or steam gets drawn up through pipes via the bore hole wells, and then the steam gets sent to turbines and other machinery to generate electricity. the hot water for drinking gets filtered and left hot, and then the rest goes into the pools that serve as the function of the lagoon facilities. SO, there is little danger of sudden temp changes within the pools themselves, and the chance of an eruption occurring within the area of the lagoon and plant is extremely low compared to out by the Sundnukagigar craters, and the current Magma Dyke, system. But, that isnt also to say that the lagoon is Entirely safe, since the volcanic Gasses, are the by far more hazardous thing to consider. if enough gasses blow that way it could be unpleasant or dangerous to those with less than stellar lung health. and in higher amounts even those With healthy lungs, may not have any fun breathing. Luckily, the air quality is monitored and i am sure the place woudl be evacuated if the air was not healthy for people at that time.

    An old saying in my youthful years, never turn your back or sleep near a wild beast, unless you have eyes in the back of your head!
    66, add another, had me chuckling. In my early law enforcement in the US, there was a highway US RT 666, and it lived up to its road identity. I peeled more dead bodies off that highway, especially in the winter, despite the posted speed limit of 55mph, drivers drove like maniacs. They finally changed the 666 to 491 later in the 1990's year later after I got reassigned to investigative unit.
    I know the intent is to grab as much money as possible because the government depends on tourism, but they are dangerously dealing with peoples lives, and that is going to come back to bite them on the backside. TY, Roman for always being factual on your content. Take care my friend, and may God continue to direct your paths!

      It is not so much of a risk for BL to be open at this time as the eruption is so diminished. Even if the wind changes there won't be much of a hazard from toxic gases because the volcanic activity is so diminished. And the eruption isn't likely to suddenly flare again.

    The magma chamber feeding this current eruption is under the Svartsengi and Blue Lagoon and it has deflated a bit. Hopefully the land doesn't suddenly collapse to form a caldera cooking these bathing tourists like lobsters. There is only one road out as the other two roads are blocked by the new lava flows. The lava that flowed around the base of Sylingarfell stopped just a few feet from the last road out of the Blue Lagoon and power plant. I would love to see a video of that location.

    Great views! 🙄 Of the beautiful berms, there precisely because of volcano danger lol, and the gorgeous power plant and construction crane (or are they going to do bungee jumps and complete the amusement/circus park?). My idea of nature and a relaxing time. Not. Of COURSE few Icelanders are there lol. How many of these people really know the dangers, just trusting the owners and tour operators like you? And if really no dangers, why are they frantically working on the berm? It's a shame people are going to have to get injured or die to put sense into heads, just for billionaire $, and a country that has no other GDP, or so they claim (and, you'd think, no better attractions). You're responsible for exposing people to dangers they aren't fully aware of. Glad you know so much about the eruption and can predict there's no danger, Dr Explorer. What about gasses? At least if you are near the cones, you can move away from gasses (although still dangerous). There you can't. The lava continues to flow at a good clip, and what if it travels down the hydrothermal plumbing over there? Kaboom! Worse than day 1.
    There's so many better places, really gorgeous places to go in Iceland, but tourists are always shallow and run in packs for their IG. All the better for me to rent a car and take off to see the REAL Iceland and have an adventure! It's almost like Iceland wants to funnel tourists into expensive traps... Do the Circle and the BL... Get the IG shot, show off to everyone how rich you are, even if you charged the whole thing on your card at 30% interest and can't pay your rent/mortgage when you get home!
    You'd not catch me dead at such a rip off crowded tourist trap, but some people, eventually, will be, if the eruptions continue. Or trapped, when the road gets covered again.
    Are you sure just anyone can get in? A recent visitor said you need a BL ticket atm to even get into the parking lot.
