thank you! I have new neighbours who have immigrated from Bulgaria and I want to be able to speak a bit to them in their native language so thank you! This was very helpful :)
The video is interesting and the one thing I learned is that you have it correctly when you say "good day" according to my Bulgarian friend who was surprised when I greeted her with my one and only Bulgarian phrase!
same here, I am from Colombia. my sister is dating a Bulgarian, and it seems like it may lead to marriage in the future. Even though Bulgarian was never in my radar, im going to have to take it more seriously!
Since I speak 2 languages English and Serbian fluently I finally decided to learn Russian and Bulgarian at the same time as a part of my New Year’s resolution, and Russian and Bulgarian are my 2 target languages I want to focus on this year
That's because the gal is organised and probably too formal, I think. I don't find actually nothing wrong. Actually the phrases on bulgarian are very common, friendly and speakable. So even if it looks formal, it's friendly way to greet people in Bulgaria. Actually I'm bulgarian and I don't find nothing wrong in her accent in bulgarian or english language.

St. Clement Ohridski (a Bulgarian man)is the creator of Cyrillic alphabet that is also used with modifications by Russian. I found it a few days ago, and was very surprised Bulgarian is almost phonetic, what i mean is read same as written as my native language is. Really worth learning and charming. I think She doesn't speak that bad? for me, i am neither native English speaker, considering She speaks slow, is not hard to understand.
I think Bulgarian is closer to Croatian languague because I have been to Croatia in 2011 and I have seen for example Bulgarian words of greeting are similar to Croatian
I have found a Bulgarian Gaming Group called Next TV that has welcomed me into their streams with open arms. I look forward to using some of these words as I chat with them.
sibir, when i try to understand russian i can't, maybe because the pronociation is different, i don't no. can you understand me if i told you : казвам се иван.
Guys, u think bulgarian sound like russian, but u're in mistake. Russian, Serbian, Macedonian etc. are derived from the bulgarian. In X century two bulgarian brothers, Metodii and Kiril make the Cyrillic alphabet. Now, that alphabet is one of the most spoken languages in the Asia and Europe.
Hi I’m a beginner I just recently wanted to start learning Bulgarian cause I was watching the vampire diaries and the main actress Elena (Nina Dobrev) is Bulgarian and she was speaking it in one episode and I took a liking to it and decided I wanted to learn but I had a question, I’m seeing all these different spellings for words like “Dobyr den” “Dobar Den” and “Dobur den” and they all say they mean “good day” but I was wondering why they’re spelled different and if it means anything???? ☺️☺️☺️🇧🇬

I think, that you understood my comment.
My nephew is going to learn Russian language and I wonder if he will be able at least to understand Bulgarian people when they speak in a simple conversation, tanks for answer me in advance.
Modern Bulgarian is a mixture of Bulgarian and Slavic. After Boris-Mihail Slavic language became official as Latin in The Holy "Roman" Empire but later disappeared after Bulgaria fall under Turkish slavery so the native language become the real language and the Slavic as Chirch-Slavic. The grammar is Bulgarian but many of the words are slavic or have both bulgarian and slavic variants. Chirch-Slavic is called also "oldbulgarian" it is so old bulgarian as German is old Latin. It is dead language non understandable for Bulgarians and is more similar to the old protoslavic language.
+Xiad ziad I actually think it's closer to Serbian and maybe Ucrainian and Polish a bit than it is to Russian. I gave some Bulgarian text to a friend who knows both Ucrainian and Russian. She could pick up a few things but ... it still takes some practice. I'm a Romanian and Romanian is related to Italian, Spanish and French ( in this order of similitute ) , Italian is quite easy for us but still takes some effort for instance ... Still Bulgarian uses some words which are exactly the same as in Russian, like vnimanie ( attention , warning ) .
If you're Bulgarian you can't understand some sentences because they are two DIFFERENT languages =D I think my language /Bulgarian/ is closer to Polish or Macedonian /they speak broken Bulgarian/ =D P. S.Sorry If yu can not understand me but ... I dont know English .
Semien Hartājā i have to disagree with that. I am Polish and at first I found Bulgarian (written) quite difficult but now it's only a matter of breaking the words down and saying them out aloud. I'd say that Bulgarian is in fact very similar to Polish even though Bulgarians use the Cyrillic script.
Russian is similar to Bulgarian... Bulgarian existed before Russian. Russian was derived from Bulgarian. These languages were based the biblical orthodox language form. Look it up if you don't believe it.
I realized only one thing if you speak Russian, you may not learn Bulgarian! Здрасти Bulgarian Russian Здрасте , добър вечер - Russian Добрый вечер Bulgarian Утро the same like russians
Macedonian is the same language with a few regional dialect forms. Everyone who is not educated in these languages always compares them Macedonian to Greek, but has more terms and things in common to Bulgarians than Greeks. lt's like comparing American English vs. Brittish English... One can still communicate with minor difference. Or like Castillan to latin american (regional) Spanish. There's not much of a difference, yet most macedonian want to be identified as greeks or something special.
