There are a number of Westerners trying to move permanently or retire in the Philippines, but not all are successful. I have observed that it all boils down to the person's attitude and resilience. Living in the Philippines is a test of courage, patience and character....Unlike Thailand, it doesn't spoil you, it will not give you life's comfort and convenience...however, it allows you to adapt to a new culture and a simple way of living. And only the "right ones" get to stay.
You have much more wonderful life in the phil..living simply with family,no stress, fresh sea air, beautiful view, living and eating healthy, and with happy Poppy meeting friends on the seashore, doing zoomies, playing and chasing each other..Almost perfect life Jay..lots of people would envy you..
Story's vlogging is getting good! It's not shaky anymore and good focus on Poppy. Yes, you definitely experienced the Filipino hardship on weather such as typhoon, heavy rain, extreme heat! It is amazing that you stayed in Siargao during Odette typhoon. Stay safe!
We have been retired for some time and have no interest in going to work. I totally understand that purpose thing though because I don't have one.... I think you are doing a great job and enjoying your life❤
you're one of the most resilient and consistent, if not the best RUclipsrs out there that covers my motherland, and I feel you guys are more Filipinos than most of us, who are out of the country, we're 12 million overseas Filipino workers actually. hope you stay in the Philippines for life. the country has its best to offer, which is hospitality and love, we would love you to grow and stay with us for a long long time....and don't worry about us, 99.9 percent of us will be coming back home because the sound and meaningful life is in the Philippines
Western ways and ordering everything online is so engrained in me I don’t think I could adapt to Siargao; however it’s a lovely island and your lives are rich. Happy Holidays
Good Morning. In reference to your last response I want to tell you I understand and respect your decisions as parents. We have been to the Philippines. We stayed there for over a month.Loved it might even move there. Wasn't trying to cause offense just always concerned for The children. You probably understand that in america we have Terrible car accidents. And I Was in the philippines and in the city's traffic was Very scary. I also understand you You live on in island so it's safer. I have been watching your channel for years.I will continue to do so❤❤Merry Christmas 🎄
Thanks for the forecast! I need some advice: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
I‘d be careful with the word „happiness“. 1. There is no ideal/happy country. 2. What makes someone happy may change over the years so a specific place might not suit anymore. 3. Places change and they might not suit anymore. 4. There is no heaven on earth- nowhere. But a piece of heaven can begin on earth, no matter where on earth it is. And isn’t „meaningful purpose‘ something that considers life being finite and what happens after death?
My mom and her siblings left the Phillipines to create more opportunity for their children. I find it ironic that people from G7 countries leave to the developing world to embrace a cheaper lifestyle. The sun shines in the Phillipines and if filipinos could afford the luxury of a life with not working as hard they would.
In many communities where you're known as a regular customer, oftentimes vendors are willing to extend an informal credit or "utang" or IOU for when one falls short of cash. Have you looked into that possibility in your shopping transactions? Of course that would be when you absolutely have no cash, but absolutely need life's basic necessities. I'm curious into that aspect of island or provincial living.
As adults have you made friends in the Philippines and spend time with them? Same goes for your daughter ... does she have any friends in Siargao her age and do they spend time with each other regularly? You seem to be insular in your ways.
Please understand it no way was I insulting you?I love your family and everything you do.. I Have seen a lot of bad things happen when people don't wear a seat belt so don't take it personally. When we were in the Philippines for a month, I loved it so much.I was also terrified every time I got in the car in the city. Cars will. Always be dangerous and people can always be thrown out of a car in an accident. I am so sorry if you felt offended.I was just concerned for your beautiful daughter❤
I think you both are wonderful parents! I am not a troll but I have a question. Why doesn't Story wear a seat belt? I have been to the Philippines and I know they drive crazy.I also know you are on an island with a hardly any traffic. However a person can be ejected from a vehicle if there is an accident. Only telling you because I care❤
Most people in the phil dont wear seatbelts...cars are much more safer than riding on a 🏍️ motorcycle wc dont require seatbelt and wc most people use as means of transpo.
We are a British family living in the Philippines also. In the Philippines it’s just how it is. We do insist that our daughter wears her seat belt in our own car as we have belts, but if we have to many people in the car to wear belts we don’t worry about it. If our daughter is with others or riding a jeep with her friends, she doesn’t wear a seat belt, lots of cars, jeeps and other public transport don’t ever have seat belts and It’s just pretty normal here not to wear them. It was strange to us at first but we have lived here for 7 years now so we see it as quite normal now too. Our roads here are just very different, it’s not really possible to drive very fast, the roads are slow and people drive slowly. Life in the Philippines is very different to more “developed” countries and you really have to experience it to understand it. “Normal” here is just different to in other places. We love the Philippines dearly and see it as our home, we now choose it over any other country and plan to live here for the rest of our lives. You should visit this beautiful country one day if you can! 😃
It was so funny when you needed some money the cash machine wasn't working and then you ended up in the chicken shop to get some money ... Lol... It only happens in the Philippines...😅😅😅

Dalaga na si story starting to develop her breast 😊
You are finding meaningful purpose and being honest with your family..so your coming out of the closet?
I wonder if the Philippines will lose the simple life as the country becomes more advanced and economically complex.
It was so funny when you needed some money the cash machine wasn't working and then you ended up in the chicken shop to get some money ... Lol...
