    Wonder why Karate is not being continued for the next olympics despite having a worldwide following for the sport. Olympic champions of karate in Tokyo will remain defending champions for a long time until it is accepted again as a olympic sport

      Ohhhh, is it not being included next Olympics?? That is such a shame. I was so so thrilled to see Karate especially Kata, in the Olympics. It was absolutely my favourite event to watch.

      Because There is No Union between Karate Federation the IOC Doesnt want things like this to happen and thus Will not allow a Sport To be Included if Theres no Union in the Sports

    Wished the TV coverage of Karate at the Olympics in the UK was better!! BBC is a waste of time, they spend to much time talking in the studio when there is fantastic sports such as Karate to watch!! Eurosport has been better viewing in my opinion!

    ever since Olympics karate is now refer to as a sport not martial art. most in my home village says I want to play karate instead of learning like it's some kind of game.

      What are you expecting out of sport karate at an event like the Olympics, matches where everyone is trying to beat each other to a pulp? But yes, its extremely boring to watch, kind of more fun to compete in. Go watch a Kyokushin match if you want to see full contact sparring.

      I'm practicing kyokushin for more than 10 years, i know it's more brutal, cool, how karate should be.. but thats it, until i discover more deeply in karate n knowing that kyokushin is a artificial karate, n okinawan karate is the real karate, but in the end there it has separated ways which is karate sport & traditional, i agree when u said karate sport is not a karate, it has no budo at all, but i think it's dffrent with sakumoto school here.. they train for sport but also for traditional way, i visit his dojo 3 years ago, n they practicing for kumite as well

    これは沖縄空手本来の伝統空手では無いですね。戦後に試合用に作り変えられた、武道の動作の無い創作型になります。でなければ最初から「変えていない」などと言う言葉は出てこないはずです。武道では無いから五輪種目になれたのです。だから純粋なスポーツ空手道です。全空連が目指しているのも同じスポーツ空手道なのです。沖縄の古伝武道空手である首里手や那覇手、泊手の先生方に一言聞けば、これくらいは直ぐに分かります。

    Not really! Karate came from Okinawa island! It has Chinese origins and was "Japanised" in sometime between 1900 to 1960.

      @@josebuenrostro5639 In the Olympic karate kumite event, nobody was using any of those combat poses to actually fight their opponent. And I think we can all agree kumite is probably closer to a real fight than practicing kata. If practicing kata was actually useful for fighting, some of the same people who compete in the kata event should be competing in the kumite. But the truth is kata is not actually useful for fighting. It's karate's version of wushu's fancy dancing.
