Nintendo doesn’t need to overthink it. All they have to do is make a more powerful Switch with backwards compatibility and other upgrades like you mentioned.
I’ve heard that Miyamoto wants to further reinvent game controllers as well. Considering Sony has been working on creating controllers for disabled players, I think the next Switch having more accessibility is also likely. And of course, a very good thing.

Whenever the next system is revealed, I just hope Nintendo doesn't reinvent the wheel like they like to do. Just release a more powerful switch with backwards compatibility. This goes for NSO as well. Please do not drip feed these classic games again for the fifth time.

  • @Vigilanteblade
    @Vigilanteblade Год назад +4

I really just want a more powerful Switch, but you remove the gimmick fluff like gyro (optional controllers can have it if people want them) to cut the cost of hardware and controllers to encourage people to be able to do local multiplayer.
Let it be backwards-compatible, support physical media, and get rid of forced NSO for online. Instead, make NSO not mandatory, and add Virtual console with an enduring library over the generations. It needs to be like Steam.
One thing I want that will never happen is just letting the game run homebrew, lol.
Also, put Hall effect sensors on your sticks, Nintendo.
For smash, port Ultimate, make it play more like Project M. I think that could be fun, lol.

I feel early 2024 reveal/announcement . April -June release of the new hardware . I still have a real hard time seeing Nintendo pushing the switch as there main console all the way until 2025(not enough content/software. ) . Maybe all the rumored games (that haven’t been announced yet are for switch 2, or cross gen ) .

  • @Neoxon619

For one, a sizable chunk of the Animal Crossing team also does Splatoon. So I wouldn’t expect the next AC game to begin development in earnest until after Side Order comes out. So yeah, probably not coming in the first year of the Switch 2.
As for Smash, there’s not much of a reason to do a port when the next system will almost certainly be backwards compatible (unlike Wii U -> Switch in MK8’s case). Plus you’d need to get every single third-party company to sign off on it, including a new revenue split if you include the DLC companies. At that point, the legal workload would be about the same as a iterative sequel. And it’s not like Smash start from scratch in terms of assets anyway, with Ultimate having assets dating as far back as Melee (2001).

I can see the announcement of the next system being in summer 2024, and possibly releasing in holiday of that year given that after five or six years; a new console is released. In addition of the next Nintendo console being more powerful, having more space, more themes, more retro games; the next system must have more options to use voice chat and messaging. One thing about Nintendo that needs to change, is their approach of system features which let's be real; is lackluster compared to the other systems. The Switch's lack of system features is far more bare bones than Nintendo's previous systems of DS, Wii, 3DS and Wii U, and Nintendo shouldn't repeat that with the next console.
In regards to the next 3D Mario, I heavily anticipate that it'll be the video game adaptation of The Super Mario Bros Movie. Smash Ultimate will be given the MK8DX treatment. I can't see people NOT be disappointed when they see the new Smash Bros' roster and stage being smaller than Ultimate's. For Mario Kart: I hope the next Mario Kart is a crossover with Sonic Racing. It's high time we get a Mario x Sonic crossover that doesn't involve the Olympics.

My specific prediction for the Smash bros thing if that happens, some of the assist trophies may get removed or even new ones may get added, but when it hypothetically comes out, players will draw attention to a couple of very specific missing assists, specifically character that were made into assist trophies due to time constraints making it difficult to make them into full characters or assist trophies that may be related to heavily requested characters, and will begin to speculate that maybe that is because Nintendo plans to add them as full fighters later on, or the assist will be the final smash of a character that will be added later on.

We might be able to figure out what the hardware specs of the Super Switch could be. It's likely Nintendo will keep working with Nvidia, so looking at Nvidia's current mobile processor lineup, we've got a few options:
    - Tegra X2 - This was the chip that was rumored to be powering the Switch Pro, and it is slightly more powerful than the base switch, but probably not enough of a performance leap for a brand new system.
    - Orin - This is a possibility but it's likely too new for Nintendo, only releasing at the end of last year. This is seemingly on par with the PS4 Pro, but if Nintendo were using this chip, I wouldn't expect to see the Super Switch until 2026.
    - Xavier - This seems to be the most likely option, it's been out since 2019, so Nintendo will have plenty of time to work with it. It's performance seems to be similar to the base PS4.

    • @QuestAccepter
      @QuestAccepter Год назад

      - doesn't justify selling your fanbase new hardware after you just sold them new hardware which should've had this new chip
      - on par w/ ps4 pro will ensure future proof for entire gen. switch can't handle a 3rd gen being weaker than 8th
      - so you expect at the latest 2024 launch with 6yr old tech, 😂
No one has time to deal with a weak console that doesn't run the same general games as the lineup for another gen again. 399 is same as ps5 and allows nxtgen power

It got 3rd party regardless of the power, but it really should at least be around PS4 level to run these games better at both better resolutions and frame rates. Third party support tied to the power of the hardware is getting more prevalent if they make continuations of the Switch than if they started from scratch.

Personally I want a game with an adventure mode like Diddy Kong Racing, and bosses like in Mario Kart DS.
As for Zelda, I either want A Link Between Worlds ported, or I want a full blown Link to the Past remake.

Also I feel like the Switch 2 NEEDS to be as powerful as a ps4 pro in docked mode and ps4 in hand held, give it a 1600x900p OLED 90hz screen (120 feels too much for a handheld, that can be in docked mode at 1080p) and an upscaled 4k@60fps on at least the mario games and other smallerish games, I dont think 4k at 60fps will happen on a big scale zelda game

How I see it going for Nintendo next system:
1- Super Switch must have backward compatible system, if not Super Switch would be DOA.
2- Super Switch must be a true next-gen console, if not Super Switch will be suffer the way Wii 1.5(WiiU) did.
3- Super Switch must have huge 1st party line-up at launch and 3rd party there after. If not, Super Switch is for sure DOA.
The ball is in Nintendo's court right now for the future of gaming. Sony/Xbox can't keep up with what Nintendo is doing and just waiting to see what's Nintendo next step.
Nintendo needs to put the pressure on and make sure that the next Nintendo comes out swinging.
If Nintendo can achieve this, I don't foresee Xbox surviving as a brand in the future.

If they aim for better hardware, they should do it how the Wii U did it.
They need to make a move with Backwards compatibility, with better incentives in creating stuff for the updated hardware. Nintendo should push for cross-upgrade releases for only one year they fully outmode the old Switch systems.

@SuperMarioT Reggie said, back when he worked at Nintendo, that they wanted Switch to last 10 years.
Keep in mind that Wii U was retired early due to abysmal sales, so Switch had two years on PS5/Series X. So Switch 2 will be in the same generation as PS6 and 4th Gen Xbox.
The Switch is still selling like hotcakes, so Nintendo is under no financial pressure to rush out a new generation console. In fact, the smartest thing would be to extend the Switch's lifespan and release a Pro model first and leave a proper successor for 2026, giving the Switch a 9-year lifecycle.

  • @maxwasson2000

5:38 But I don't know if Nintendo would want to risk the same mistake they've made with a sequel console like when they followed up with the Wii with the Wii U and had people they were confused and thought that the gamepad was just an accessory for the Wii, They could make a console with similar concepts to the Switch, but I would advise Nintendo to not reuse the Switch branding in the same way they reused the Wii branding for the Wii U.
5:46 Following up on that point, Nintendo has officially released 2 Switch revisions in the last 2 odd years and if the patter continues, we could see another Switch revision of some sort. In 2019, we got the Nintendo Switch 2019 revision (aka 2nd-gen) plus the Nintendo Switch Lite, and in 2021, we got the Nintendo Switch OLED (aka 3rd-gen)
15:09 Or they could just bring back Virtual Console and allow people to purchase games from their old library and have them be played locally
25:36 Personally, I wouldn't mind a new Smash game with a roster that cuts down the fat from Ultimate's roster, and has a greater focus on the single player content.
26:20 I suggest they hire HAL Laboratory to design a new Kirby-like Adventure mode for Smash Bros, much like Subspace Emissary.
26:31 The one big issue I have with Master Chief being a suggestion, is that I just don't see Microsoft letting their flagship mascot appear on a first-party game for a competing console, not saying it wouldn't be cool, I just don't see it happening.

Every other nintendo sequel console sold worse than its predecessor. Snes, Gba, 3ds, and Especially the Wii U.
