I was wondering in the beginning, cause Joe Egan often has been standing in for the video clips instead of Gerry Rafferty.... Their voices are even quite similar, so if you don't know it you don't instantly see/hear wether it's Joe or Gerry, but this is definitely Joe Egan. He has brought out some very good songs and Album's himself too by the way. Amazing line up here though... 👍
My good drinking buddy, occasional bandmate and friend Paul Pilnik died not long ago in Liverpool. He is the middle guitarist. Credited with the writing on early tracks. I've just rediscovered this track too. Damn I could have rang him about the timing.
The reason why Gerry Rafferty isnt in this performance is that he had left the band after recording the album . When Stuck In The Middle With You on which Gerry sings lead became a worldwide hit he rejoined the band. That`s why Gerry also isnt in the promo video for stuck In the middle with you .
I've watched this every day since I discovered it a couple of weeks ago. Continue to be amazed at the power of this ill-fated band. We need more great music like this!
Rafferty is doing his Joe Cocker impression!! Cocker couldn't play the tambourine and sing at the same time though. I wish Rafferty was still around...RIP.
RIP Gerry Rafferty! Gerry Rafferty, the Scottish singer and songwriter behind such hits as “Baker Street” and “Stuck in the Middle with You,” has died at the age of 63. He reportedly had been suffering from liver and kidney problems. According to various reports, he died in Dorset, England, with his daughter Martha by his side.
Luther James Grosvenor played in the V.I.P.s renamed Art & then renamed Spooky Tooth, Steelers Wheels & under the pseudonym Ariel Binder, in Mott the Hoople and Widowmaker.
Stealers Wheel, Come on Joe Egan and Gerry Rafferty, EVERYONE is ready for a REUNION. Even a REUNION special concert on DVD would be COOL! No ones getting any YOUNGER guys. Egan is great in this. Although he does look like Joe Cocker's brother!
The year was 1990, I was 10 years old. The last time I heard this song, me and uncle sandman, ( yes , that was his name, real name) just blew up his then wifes " she shed" ( apperantly , that is equivalent to a man cave ) door. See my uncle was a nam vet.! For some strange freaking reason that crazy bastard loved his nephew . ( Yes, I was his favorite everyone knew it. I think it's cause they knew we probably shared the same I q. I guess) but I remember that damn song cause I thought we did good and so did he too until Darla ( the new wife)came home.! Apperantly the neighbors wife seen what the hell we was doing or already knew what we was doing and called her at work so she comes home right after we tripped the wife and the front half of her shed was gone, I thought ir was cool as hell until her and 4 cops come through fhat back fense. 😅😢 Sorry he's been gone for several years now and , fuck I miss my best friend . Good tune
These guys were OUTRAGOUS! FANFUKINTASTIC! ..I'm a product of the 70's ..and they rock!! ( I just forgot about them ) Too many bands in the 70's!! I can't keep up
Joe Egan reminds me a little of Joe Cocker in this video. Steelers Wheel was definitely in their prime in this video. They aren't given as much credit as they deserve. They were an incredible band.
i think its so cool how they signed Jesus on to play drums on this tune ;) I mean I know he's in demand - so to give his time for this must have been a big deal back in the day
@GoldenOldiesOn45RPM Your defeinitely right and I appreciate the info. It's a shame that Gerry doesn't perform anymore. I truly think that he was a master musician, composer, and writer back in his "heyday" so to speak in the late 70's and early 80's. I can still listen to his music all day long and never tire of it. I have introduced younger people to his music and they too have become fans of Gerry. May you enjoy Gerry's music for many more years to come. Take care.
I believe the line-up here is Joe Egan (v), Rod Coombes (d), DeLisle Harper (b), Luther Grosvenor (g) and Paul Pilnick (g). Gerry Rafferty had temporarily left at this time.
Richard Fiveash I think that's Grosvenor in the front yeah, it definitely sounds like his guitar work too, which in my opinion is fantastic, almost out of place in this band, but that makes it better.
Woke up this morning, I got out of bed Too late to go to work - walked my dog instead I don't try too hard, but I get by You don't have to tell me I've got a lot to learn Think I gotta laugh at your overconcern I don't try too hard, but I get by You sit there with your fancy cigar and you think, "I got it made" I don't want no fast car, whoa no I'm never ready, don't have to wait Everybody knows I'm bound to get there late I don't try too hard, but I get by You sit there with your fancy cigar and you think, "I got it made" I don't want no fast car, whoa no I'm never ready, don't have to wait Everybody knows I'm bound to get there late I don't try too hard, but I get by.
@paranoid19851 This is a great video. I just wish Egan and Rafferty would get back together and do a reunion tour as Stealers Wheel. Egan did play on many of Gerry Rafferty's albums after Gerry split off from Stealers Wheel. They remain friends to this day. In fact I just got Rafferty's newest album (2009) and Joe Egan is referenced many times on the album as a contributor.
Wow, Gerry sounds a lot like Paul Rodgers of Bad Company....amazing. His voice sounds totally different....I love it! Never heard this one before...thanks for posting!
@s0ulj4h187 Are you saying Gerry died in 2001? Actually Gerry died about two months ago in the beginning of 2011. RIP Gerry. Your music will truly endure the test of time. Some of the best memories of my life are listening to Gerry Rafferty's music.
Cool. Thanks for clearing that up man. I ripped my 'Very Best Of..." onto my hard drive last night. They rank pretty high with my other favourites of 1972: Zeppelin; E, L & P; Focus; Elton John. They should've had more success. I think the album covers didn't help them, and my (then-new) vinyl of their eponymous debut album had a few jumps on it (cheap pressing?) Great band, up there with the Best of their time/those years ('72--'75). Thanks again samsonboy48
These guys are just so horribly underrated.. love them love Joe's voice so much! ♥️
That is probably because they were so short lived as a band but they were great while it lasted.
The good lord himself on drums...man of many talents.
Jesus In Furs
It's OK whenever you were born.
I guarantee you, we NEVER heard this stuff with the range and clarity with which we ALL can hear it today.
Just enjoy.
I was born in the 70’s.
Rediscovering great music!
😎👍
Nothing but coolness in the 70's
Joes amazing soulful rock voice and character is incredible! And the instrumentation ..what a band!!!❤
My good drinking buddy, occasional bandmate and friend Paul Pilnik died not long ago in Liverpool. He is the middle guitarist. Credited with the writing on early tracks. I've just rediscovered this track too. Damn I could have rang him about the timing.
Rest in peace Gerry. Your music will endure.
yet this is Joe Egan singing... Possibly Gerry's just behind the scenes here 🙄
@@FBAV This is during the short period Gerry left the band, the reason Joe was miming to Gerry's vocal in the 'Stuck in the Middle with You' video :)
@@FBAV Gerry left the band. He came back, a few times.
The reason why Gerry Rafferty isnt in this performance is that he had left the band after recording the album . When Stuck In The Middle With You on which Gerry sings lead became a worldwide hit he rejoined the band. That`s why Gerry also isnt in the promo video for stuck In the middle with you .
That laugh is GOLD and should have stayed in the studio cut ! 👍
Yes!!!
Saw himself on the monitor.
You just know this is a hot band-when you have Jesus on drums!
JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAAJAJAJAJAJAJJAJAJJJAJAJAJAJAAJJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAAJJAJAAJAJJAAJAJAJJAJA SURE MAN!!!!
Ian Anderson stole that mad peasant face at the end . Joe Egan Legend.

Ian was first.
I saw the halo!
Easy gig for him.
Egan is outstanding in this. You dont get em like him very often. Respect.
I like anyone that thoroughly enjoys what he is doing like this dude. Obvious Obviously having fun.
Just heard this for the first time. It’s heavy af 😎
Same here. Same!
Joes toothy grin and sparkling eyes just make me feel happy!
Try to watch on ..my rock style page..
You know a band is ace when the lead singer can make glasses like that look cool (and Jesus on the drums)
Ha ha ha... You're hilarious😂🤣
Looks somewhere between Jesus Christ and Iggy Pop lol
Drums, so easy a caveman can do it
"Stuck in the middle with you" is played ad nauseum on the radio that you think that's the only song they ever recorded.
what a great song.
I looooooooooooove Stealers Wheel soooooooooo much...
Joe egan is the cutest lil boy singer i've ever seen
This was the theme of the mid 70's: I don't try hard, but I get by :-) Pass a doobie.
I am 15 and can't get enough these guys, Another Meaning is worth a listen, the singing is phenomenal.
Great album.
What a band ! - You guys make me smile ! - Your music ....Helps me get by !
Thanks for sharing !
What a powerful voice !! Pure blues !!
Joe is my major crush even in 2017, what a performer and voice ❤ need more live videos from them.
Great song
RIP indeed, Gerry. So long and thanks for the music...
I've watched this every day since I discovered it a couple of weeks ago. Continue to be amazed at the power of this ill-fated band. We need more great music like this!

This is absolute GOLD like, Don't Stop ( Thinking About Tomorrow ) ! !
Joe Egan, sexy vocalist ! ! Hot moment when he laughs ! !
💋😎💋
Ok i can admit i've listened to this song 25 times in a row joevs21001 i'm soooo with you on this one!!!
Egan made me fall in love with him ... nearly 40 years after this aired. Oh that yummy, expressive, could just eat 'im up face!

Great song to hear when you're laying about and blowing off the day!
Joe Egan is one awesome singer.
wow you can really hear the blues influences in some of this older rock music. you dont really get that anymore.
Luther Grosvenor on lead guitar🎸👍🏻
Luther James Grosvenor played in the V.I.P.s renamed Art & then renamed Spooky Tooth, Steelers Wheels & under the pseudonym Ariel Binder, in Mott the Hoople and Widowmaker.
Come on Joe & Gerry, what about a Stealers Wheel REUNION! The world is now READY guys.

My friend John Mills engineered this record and u should give him a hug and a smack on da back for capturing this! :) peas!

Their song “stuck in the middle”has 25m views recently re-discovered it love playing it acoustic!
I remember the band don't remember a lot of there songs
i think its so cool how they signed Jesus on to play drums on this tune ;)
I mean I know he's in demand - so to give his time for this must have been a big deal back in the day
One of my favorite people.
Love Egan's silly faces.
super cool. Very Paul Rogers/ bad company.
20 years ago i thought they looked so outdated straight out of the 70s. Now they look sort of contemporary.
Love this man - great job in life, Gerry!
hey look hyde is having fun!
Joe has that R&R voice! Reminds me of another Joe🤔

Just Fantastic !
Ariel Bender on the Lead Guitar when he was still (and still is)Luther Grosvenor.
Classic rock music. 👍👍👍👍
yeah bby this is my fav song i missed it
And he is still alive \o/ My god, this voice !
Sounds like Free with Paul Rogers vocals. Very good.
dudee! jesus is playing rhe drums oh snap ninja

Richard Fiveash the bassist is incorrect
DeLisle Harper IS the bass player.
Thanks ,I was wondering about Rafferty not being there.
Luther Grosvenor, soon after the Rafferty-less tour, re-emerged in Mott the Hoople as Ariel Bender
Thank you, Jesus, for those great drum riffs, Your cowbell, and Your fur cloak! Amen!
Haha, I just laughed so hard at this post!
Just great music from great times, bit of cocker influence maybe? Jerry you where fantastic RIP.
Good old music
best 70s band ever!
I believe this song was written by Rab Noakes who sadly passed away yesterday!
Underated gem💕
I love the cute stupid faces he always makes when he's singing.
Woke up this morning, I got out of bed
Too late to go to work - walked my dog instead
I don't try too hard, but I get by
You don't have to tell me I've got a lot to learn
Think I gotta laugh at your overconcern
I don't try too hard, but I get by
You sit there with your fancy cigar and you think, "I got it made"
I don't want no fast car, whoa no
I'm never ready, don't have to wait
Everybody knows I'm bound to get there late
I don't try too hard, but I get by

Joe reminds me so much of Hyde from That 70s Show in this video
Story of my life...I don't try hard, but I get by...
LOL! I was just thinking that.

This isn't Gerry. Gerry had briefly quit the band. This is Joe Egan singing.
Egan's face's in this are unreal. LMAO! He was on some SERIOUS happy pills!
bearded peter bishop bearded, ligt one mannnnnn
That's great!!!
this might as well be my theme song
surely would be mine as well
this guy is soooo happy :D
What a handsome man was Joe Egan 😍
Luther practicing bending aerials for his next gig in Mott the Hoople.
love Paul Pilnick#stealerswheel
Wow, this is one of the only '70s song vid ive seen with them not looking like they are playing a total different song.
Fried up man.
Joe Egan and his voice is the number one
RIP Gerry Rafferty
Terrific!
@s0ulj4h187 Are you saying Gerry died in 2001? Actually Gerry died about two months ago in the beginning of 2011. RIP Gerry. Your music will truly endure the test of time. Some of the best memories of my life are listening to Gerry Rafferty's music.
The lead singer looks like Richard dryfus on the movie jaws
Thanx Man. loved it!
How did the awful Stuck in the Middle with You become popular and not this awesome song? This is like something Bad Company or Foghat would do.
if i ever find this in a karaoke machine, its going down! It wont be good but it'll be loud
Rest In Peace Gerry!
this is music
these guys always look like they're about to bust out in laughter
Kara Hamilton well, acid is a lot of fun ;)
Cool. Thanks for clearing that up man.
