Since one of those categories was overall GOTY, it also got some extra clips and Pedro making that part of the medley legendary like it deserves to be. From the perspective of the show as a whole - saying nothing more than the title of any game that didn’t win a category - it’s not surprising, but it should be understandable that it feels like a favourite game for some was barely acknowledged when that’s all it gets.

Flute guy is my favourite thing to have come out of the show. He was just so energetic and pumped to be playing that music. He elevated it to another level. Also Xenoblade had the best music. The flute made it stand out among the whole medley.

Shinobue is a 6-7 hole flute played horizontally and blown into a hole and not a mouthpiece. The musician who recorded on those lore shinobues is a different person and idk if they were present at this event.

If anybody is interested, look up Pedro Eustache's performances with the Game of Thrones orchestra tour that happened a few years ago. I saw him play a bunch of crazy instruments live going to one of those events, including this 14-foot long horn thing that shook my whole body when he blew in it. It was so awesome, and I was so excited to see this guy randomly show up again at the Game Awards. It's so uplifting to watch somebody as they do *exactly* what it is they are most passionate about and to do it well.
