You guys are amazing! Your son is so strong and brave... and your daughter is amazing too! When it comes to parents evening the school my son attends were reluctant to show me any of his work and progress etc once I asked though they showed me and he’s doing really well! With it being half term my sons routine went completely out of the window and once he went back to school and found it very hard on the first day back... how is your sons speech? And how does the autism effect him? My son has very minimal speech and only says a few words so he gets very frustrated as he can’t tell people what he wants... we’ve had the adhd form and the asd form.... like you I got annoyed with the asd form 😂 the questions are so stupid.... I hope your doing ok and your son has had a great day... have a lovely evening.. x

Thank you, Olis speech is impaired but I can understand it. It has improved a lot but a year ago most people would have struggled with lots of what he was saying. Now it’s just certain sounds and letters and certain words. Fs used to be Ds and stuff like that. It upsets him. He hates hearing his voice on videos but I love his voice and want him to feel ok with it.

Sheepdog Says aww bless you my son is the same and gets very upset and frustrated with the lack of speech my son also doesn’t like hearing his own voice....I know exactly how you feel you just want them to feel ok.... my son is constantly on the go which is caused by his adhd and autism....my son has the educational health care plan it’s really good as it gets him a lot of support at school.... he’s going to start attending a school for special needs children as he’ll get a lot more help with his special needs etc. Hope you guys have a nice night x

Teisha Luswata that sounds good then a school that is catering for him will be perfect. I think Olis school do well but they’re still figuring it out like we are so it’s hit and miss at times!

Awesome that Emily had such a great parents evening! I get what you mean about the parents evening, Im in yr10 now and last years parents evening was almost totally about my anxiety and how I'm coping within the classroom, I left and wondered how I was actually doing! That ADHD form sounds ridiculous, don't get how you are meant to say your child is perfect, or they behave like an angel, that isn't fact that is simply opinion!

I ran Olis score through an online test and 37/50 was the result. I’m not really sure what that means beyond what the test said (significant ASD traits).

The AQ form is similar to the online AQ tests for adults.

Don’t be worried about what the school say about him, maybe he does act differently at school and in social situations and maybe them putting different answers will show them what they need to know? Also you’re just comparing to Emily and how you feel about situations where as they will be comparing to 30 other kids or even more over the years of his age. It’s probably a good thing right?

When they mean imagine you can go to Olis and say imagine a house with 6 bathrooms and 10 bedrooms and he may go ow no we only have 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms he can’t imagine the situation and the obsessions one is worded w bit wrong it’s were they pick a hobby and they obsess over it like kids get into really hard board games with complex rules .look up on RUclips my life Rosie it’s a basic show on kids minds with autism

Thank you for this. The problem I have is if I say to Oli imagine something he goes with what he knows or with a “go to” silly number eg when talking about our old house having one bathroom and our new house having 3 I said how many more shall we get next time and he just says 9000. We were playing Mario Kart earlier and there are 9 coloured Yoshis you can play as I said imagine a new colour and he could only suggest red, black and blue which he’d literally just seen were colours already in the game. Emily said brown then he suggested brown. I have an ongoing bugbear that if I ask him a question to ‘test’ and Emily answers he always always says her answer and can’t think of his own. I don’t think he’s completely incapable of new thoughts because he suggests the ‘joke’ answer but then he never seems to suggest a real answer and the joke answer could be something he has learned from a classmate.

It would be better if they sent you a form/or have a telephone conversation where you told them what Connor was like rather the questionnaire they sent you.
