I've just listened to this LP, Piper at the gates of dawn, and The soundtrack from MORE and they've convinced me that all you need from Pink Floyd's erly years is 'Relics' and 'Umma Gumma'; and after this they became a bunch of pretentious bread heads.
You never saw them in 1971-72 perform songs from Meddle, Echoes in particular with a never before heard quadrophonic sound system with an audience high on good LSD. ; very unpretentious, no "bread heads".
@@namcat53 I stick by what I've said above namcat53. Apart from a few early classics everything they've done is pretentious middle class crap. I did see them ay Manchester's Free Trade Hall in 1969, my ears are still ringing from the effects of its surround sound stereo. HO HO HO!
I don't think they were very psychedelic after 1970, I hated The Wall which I've never listened to, only that awful single that has East End 'kids' singing 'We don't need no education' when education is the most important tool you need in life; this lyric from a guy who most likely had a university education. 'Another brick in the wall' should have been banned for being subversive. The sper rich a holes.@@TheHSIHP
underrated album, one of their best and most psychedelic imo
This has never been "underrated", a useless teenage term used to describe something they weren't aware of.
hadn't heard that for nearly 40 years , fabulous and brought back so many memories ;)
