For bass, I used splits to add dry signal into effects that don't have a blend feature. For a while I was goofing around with sending higher freq's to a guitar amp with distortion. I got some interesting sounds out of that. My downfall is patience. I lack the patience to explore all the HX Stomp can do...

Simple, covers the topic end to end, straight to the point without fluffy/subjective descriptions and very instructive... Even knowing and using this to a very big extend (example, on Bass I like to apply octaver only when I play from the second lower E (aka, above the 7th fret on A string) note onwards, so I use the crossover to that, so I don't lose bottom end when I move up in fret for certain songs/bands/etc I play). The Dynamic is on my backburner, I find it very cool, but haven't find a place for it just yet.
Also, I would love Line6 to apply these principles on a BLOCK, not only on path. By that I mean, I would love to have a parallel dry/wet option, rather and a sequential one. 50% dry/wet is not the same of 50% dry + 50% wet, and having these options on every block would allow you to have a 50% output of a combined 100% dry and 100% wet distorted sound... and I'm very sure this audio information is there, at the block level, you just can't treat them separately simply because the blocks are still "locked" to the old limitation of analogue pedals. It's time to unleash more of the "digital-only" unexplored features.
Love your work. Cheers from Down Under!

You could also create a path 1b to merge into path 1a before the amp. Instead of those 2 paths going out, have them both with guitar input. Great way to blend 2 distortions and also by putting the acoustic sim on path 1b it blends great with 1a. Just plugging your guitar into the guitar input will go to both input paths. To me it sounds fuller and gets more atmosphere.

If I run a HX stomp 4CM so I can use different pre amps into my valve power amp, can I use the split and merge function to keep the modulation FX separate to my pre amp, even though they're going into the FX loop of my valve amp? If that makes sense?

Hey Scott thanks for doing all these vids it's been a fantastic resource getting me up and running on the HX Stomp. After watching this vid I wanted to split my signal Left EFX only and Right EFX/Amp/Cab so I can send the left to my stage amp and the right to FOH. I have EFX on channel A then Amp/Cab on channel B then my mixer block. But for some reason with L panned 100 L and R panned 100 R I am still getting the right channel in the left side. What am I doing wrong.

    • @Mediocre_Bass_Player

Great video, great channel. Question: I use the HX Stomp live and run it into a Fryette tube power amp then into a cab w/Celestion. But I would like to run a separate line to the house PA with speaker cab sim on. So I tried splitting the signal as you show in the video, with no cab sim on channel A panned hard left and this goes to my real speaker cab on stage, and cab sim on channel B panned hard right and this goes direct to PA. Everything works, but there is a significant volume drop on the side with no cab sim. If I turn the cab sim off on channel B, the volume on channel A jumps back up. Is this normal, and do I just need to adjust the level on the mix return block?

The explanation for split Y is not correct: the balance determines the amount of each INPUT going into each path, you can always adjust the stereo balance via the panning in the mixer, in any of the given split modes. The Split y is useful only if you're using both the inputs on your stomp, otherwise is just a dimmed version of split A/B. Also any mono block put before the split y convert the signal to mono, so nullifies the vantage of the split. When using both inputs the blocks before the split should be stereo, in order to preserve the proper processing. Hope this clarifies a bit.

Not sure if they fixed it yet, but anyone coming here to figure out about routing your cab sim to output B and no cab to FX return of your amp (thru path A) into cab... When you're not using your B output it still puts the cab sim or IR in you path A. I lost my mind figuring this out. Simple Fix; Plug somethin into your Right Output even if you're not using it. Like a headphone adapter or short patch cable.
