Hi all! It’s been a while between video releases, my life and work has been somewhat chaotic which stopped editing and production for abit, thankfully now, we’re back in the editing room! This video definitely doesn’t cover everything that takes place at the Newport Workshops Open Days, things like the K Class Centenary, the return to service of K183 after its tragic accident, Trugo, the Newport Railway Museum, and everything else! We did film and interview for the above subjects back in 2022, however, It was an editorial decision to not include them in this video because we didn’t want to blow out the video duration to 30mins+. We will look at making seperate standalone videos on these topics in the future! Thanks for watching and your support, subscribe for more!
Mate, you covered absolutely plenty! Its the unfortunate thing about balancing between what's relevant and what's not in contrast to how often you plan to upload. At the same time, it keeps it 'short' and sweet which is fantastic for a broader audience. Will you be attending this year?
Hi Rags! Thank you so much, I'm chuffed with your feedback! Was meant to reply to you, but been busy, will do so now! Hopefully I can produce more content like this when real life doesn't interfere with that 😅
Hi MySteamChannel, and thanks! Shame you can’t make it, I greatly suspect there will be enough footage to come out of it next weekend to make up for not being there 😜
Hey Adam! Thanks for the feedback! And I greatly enjoyed both your Japanese Rail video and Indian Pacific one! Doing well to almost reach 30k subscribers 😁 (You coming to Newport as well?)
@@Rheilffordd Great to hear that - cheers! I’m hoping to make it … just need to fit it in with some other plans (taking the steam-hauled Q Train on the Sunday). 🚂
Thanks for this high quality coverage and the reminder of the Newport Workshops open day next weekend. I hope to be attending. However at 4:42 Richard Parker, with his focus on Newport Workshops, is getting it wrong about the predecessor workshops used by the Victorian Railways prior to Newport opening fully in 1889. The original VR Workshops were at Williamstown in the Timeball Tower area. This started in 1858 with the assembly and preparation of locomotives and rolling stock imported from the UK. Over the next decades the Williamstown workshops built seven locomotives there, most to VR designs. The PROV has numerous photos of the Workshops, some taken using the Timeball Tower to get an elevated view. The Spotswood Workshops are a much more recent and specialised facility with the earliest mention I can find of it being in Trove for 1924 talking about purchasing the empty land to build the facility and listing it's few functions.
Great video! Can’t go this year, (I have never been lol! Due to being about 850ks away!) I will be going to the SRHC open day this year which I’m exited about! Will even be getting the 707 train to Seymour from Melbourne for the day! Great video again!
Hahaha! The best comment so far 🤣 I literally thought the same skit when I was editing this footage 😆 (For the rest of you, look up “Family Guy - Clap contest with Cleveland”)
I wish we had a government that cared. South block could be a child / family friendly museum of world class standards. Bus loads turning up every day. Jobs for people. But no. Its a rotting ghost hall

I certainly am going to be there next weekend in volunteer capacity for SRV! So maybe see you there? 😁

@@DivergentRailways ok awesome! I’ll hunt you out there, see you!
Worked there as an apprentice in the 80's. Going with my son to have a look and show him some of the places that I worked in .
That’s awesome Ian! I hope your son appreciates this and the skills and trades you would have had to learn back then!
Love Newport Railway Workshops!
Attending the open day this weekend for the very first time. Looking forward sooo much to Saturday

Hi John, thank you for that constructive feedback and correction as well! Looks like my research in checking details had a few holes in it 😆
Love your videos man! Really high quality content. 👍

The crew on 153 wanted the last whistle… and they won. Must be competitive.
183 wins by default anyway, because reasons.
How much to go there
