I totally lost it when you got to the envy post about Mike Wozoski killing Markiplier! The saddest thing... is that that picture looked just like those two characters. Also glad to see Monster Inc and Markiplier aren’t dead. Just keep those two away and I think we can avoid another bloodshed.

I wrote my essay on the spolia-usage of emperor Otto the Great in the Magdeburg Cathedral and I compared it to the use of spolia by emperor Constantine the Great on the Arch of Constantine, Charlemagne in the Palatine Chapel in Aachen, and Frederick Barbarossa in the Valkhof-Chapel in Nijmegen. It's a topic I quite recommend. Spolia are elements of a structure that have been reclaimed (read: stolen) from other buildings. It's quite a flex to demolish a church in Ravenna just so you can use the porphyry columns in your church in Magdeburg, and it's interesting to see how the use of these elements relates to the emperor's relationship with Rome.

I did once see a piece with a clarinet run in triskadecuplets (13-lets) once, but it was a very faux-cinematic piece and had novuplets and quintuplets in other parts at the same time, so they were clearly just going for an effect where “average pitch is rising in a weird, unpredictable way.” we treated it as “as long as you hit the first and last notes at roughly the right time, nobody will ever know or care if you’re wrong.

As a screenwriting major, I can tell you that there's a major difference between writing a story and an essay. An essay needs to be filled out with specific formats, unnecessary word limits, be analytical, be researched and include quotes, and just generally be a smart person thing. A story just needs to follow tropes and a three act structure.

The bird post is too true. My friend was driving me to work a couple weeks ago and I saw that a UPS driver on a nearby road couldn't pull away because a motherfucking turkey was standing in front of his car and would get aggressive with the car when he honked at it.
And he had cars behind him so he couldn't back up.
It was on a road higher up so I couldn't see well, but I'm praying that he was at least parallel parked and not waiting at the intersection.
