I worked in the restaurant industry for quite some time. When Gordon Ramsey burst onto the Television Reality scene, I began to experience a rise in mean-spirited, belittling behaviour amongst those on the upper end of the culinary team hierarchy. A few years later, when the graduates of culinary schools started joining the working ranks…It was astonishing to see how many embodied, and exhibited these reality TV Chef’s personalities and penchant for drama. It never ceases to amaze me, how incredibly influential the curated content pouring out of our rectangles directly impacts/influences our human experience. Whether that be in portrait or landscape orientation.
I have a friend who worked in some of the higher end restaurants in Toronto for a while who said exactly the same thing. A lot of the head chefs and managers were monumental assholes and created extremely toxic work environments. Thee eventually had to leave the restaurant industry entirely because they had a nervous breakdown as a result of all the toxicity.
@@terrylong8894 I fully understand that scenario. It was a combination of that which your friend experienced, along with the unprecedented rise of eating preferences/diets/“allergies” and the accompanying customer that finally ignited the implementation of my exit strategy…the cost of the “medications” required to get by grew for too expensive and took far too great a toll.

I see how these talent shows can bring out the best empathic and nurturing mentorships, whilst exhibiting harsh truths. But as Piers said there, he was told to act particularly harshly, but had to be right most of the time. There's a certain hubris in humiliating volunteers on these shows that never sat well with me. At the very beginning, Piers betrays himself stating that a journalist is a judgmental reporter of things going on. A journalist is supposed to be neutral, presenting the facts/ news, not propaganda to influence you.
He means it in a more nuanced way than that. They have to dig down to the truth. Questioning people in an interview is something you can’t do in a limp, neutral kind of way. They can do it in a fair way. I do agree that I am tired of the liberal spin on everything.
Everyone has biases and no one is neutral. Some are honest about their bias while others try to hide it. There is nothing wrong per se about bias. Morgan however is good at not talking about things which would contradict his views. In a discussion with Eric Weinstein who claimed the 2020 presidential election was not fair and was influenced by "tech companies" Morgan never took him up on his claim the election was unfair even though numerous judges, some appointed by Republicans, said the election was fair. One reason Morgan never challenged Weinstein's assertion is that the "tech companies" Weinstein refers to was one company namely Dominion Voting Systems which won a $787 million dollar lawsuit against Fox News owned by Rupert Murdoch who groomed Morgan in the first place. Morgan attempts to conceal his biases.

Where IS Susan Boyle today? I know she released several albums, sold millions of records worldwide since she captured the world’s attention in 2009 on BGT. But I haven’t seen or heard her recently.
She left her big house that she bought after success and moved back to her local village and the house she grew up in. She lives a completely regular life in the local village, always seen in the shops and on public transport. There’s a video of her in her house recently on RUclips somewhere.
Morgan says he was able to judge performers who could do things he couldn't, those a mass audience would like and those who he felt had talent. Does he have any follow up evidence the ones he thought could generate a mass audience ever went on to fame? Was his judging such potential successes greater than a simple fifty-fifty guess? How does he know he was able to do the things he says he was able to do?
A violin is not a viola before it can play by itself. It makes the music, you are just a guiding hand. Also, people are like rainbows but dont forget the dark side of the moon.
I’m sorry, I played hockey all my life. Can you remind me what there is to fear about playing European football?? In decades of play, I broke 4 bones, I have gashes on my face, split my lip, I have jerseys that can no longer be used because there’s too much blood stain on em, no front teeth, almost every part of me has had a nasty welt at one point or another, I’ve been knocked unconscious, partially unconscious, been high sticked, took a puck to the ear (helmeted but still), been stitched up, been to the hospital, black eyes-and this is all fairly normal for a long time player. Remind me again where’s the danger in soccer?
Piers Morgan is famous for getting access to famous people. If Piers Morgan didn't have famous people to stand next to, what would he be famous for? You ask your postman, or the binman, or the guy sweeping your street for an opinion and they'd be every bit as valid and insightful, if not more so. Piers Morgan simply has more brass neck than almost everyone else.

Right, that was weird. Why does a journalist have to be judgemental? I would say the best journalists aren't.
