  • Fred Galvin served for over 26 years as an enlisted and Marine Corps officer including assignments in the infantry, reconnaissance, force reconnaissance and Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC/Marine Raiders). He led hundreds of combat missions including raids, deep reconnaissance, ship seizures, and ambush operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and in the Arabian Gulf, Gulf of Oman and Gulf of Aden.
The Marine Corps selected Galvin to command the first Marine Special Operations Task Force to deploy to combat. While conducting a combat mission in Afghanistan, Galvin and six other Marines were falsely accused of war crimes which led to the longest trial in Marine Corps history that led an acquittal.
His new book, A Few Bad Men is the story of an elite team of U.S. Marines set up to take the fall for Afghanistan war crimes they did not commit-and their leader who fought for the redemption of his men.
Following his retirement, he became a business entrepreneur, nonprofit executive director aiding families of service members killed in action, and a consultant to the Marine Corps, coordinating activities in the areas of cyberspace, electronic warfare, and psychological operations.

As always, great podcast! The military legal system is a corrupt system because it doesn't have the checks and balances of the imperfect civilian legal system in my opinion. As a vet and retired cop, I couldn't agree more with what Whitey Bulger said before his death in an interview that was erased online. He said "you don't need a gun to be a gangster now, you just need a law degree"... The rules that govern lawyers whether in the military or civilian sector aren't enforced if there are any...just my jaded opinion of someone that shared 28 years of my life with them... Another excellent leader standing in the gap for his men and the truth about who are the real perpetrators in our military and the politics of corrupting and weakening our country by these so called leaders that are more concerned about being a globalist than an American that swore an oath to the Constitution.

It's weird how, Top Marine Corps Officers did not want a special operations team in the Marine Corps. Top Officers tried to slow roll the thing and block it. They thought that an already specialized military (Marine corps) did not need a special operations team within an already special military. When this Majors shooting ambush "incident" happened, those same Top Marine Officers used it as a way to have proof that a special operation team in the Marines was bad and wrong to have. As a former Marine, the way the Top Marine Officers were acting and mindset, makes me so disappointed and ashamed 😞 Donald Rumsfeld was the one to keep pushing the Marine Top Officers to make this unit happen. I am proud of now retired Marine General Mattis to have come forward and say that this Major and his men did nothing wrong when thihappened.

When America sends her Marines to war we expect that our country will be as faithful to us as we are to our country; that our political leaders, those responsible for sending us to war will have our backs; that we will always receive the benefits of doubt, especially in a war that we fought for more than 20 years - a war our political and military leaders seem unwilling to win, yet unable to leave. Major Galvin is an America hero - the old fashioned kind where he leads from the front and with honor. We would be wise as a country and as a Corps to look in the mirror - not sure we will like what we see looking back.

There’s an ego problem in the upper brass. Officers should be taught to listen and work WITH NCO’s.

They are. Junior officers understand that. The problem is at the Field Grade level. President Obama started the Purge that continues today. No one gets past Major unless they are Woke. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs has permanently damaged the Officer Corps, and the Commandant has been a willing accomplice.
