I heard 18US241 mentioned but no mention of 18US242. This is a criminal charge specifically for law enforcement or anyone acting under the color of law. The title is deprivation of rights under the color of law. We have laws on the books to address issues like these. Why are they not being used? Even with video evidence, the law is not being applied as it should. If criminal cops, district attorneys, and judges knew there was a consequence for their behavior these situations would not be so prevalent and wide spread. The reason they do it is because they have the belief that they will not be held accountable. And sadly despite the laws that exist to do just that, they won't. They know they won't. We just seen a town hall meeting of people who were able to show up and tell their story. How many people are incarcerated right now, that couldn't pay, couldn't defend themselves and are now sitting in a prison with a record for life? There needs to be a minimum sentence for even the lowest level of police misconduct: 25 years in actual prison, not segregated. And the lawsuit settlements need to start coming out of police retirement funds and salaries.

Justice, to me, is looking into all of the cases during the period and reset the events to those affected. Repayment back to the People, and heavy research into what, and why it happened. Only then, would the People develop a modicum of trust. Other townships need to research this since this is not an isolated story, but one that is growing within the country.

Where I am from this started in the 90's. Back then that's how they policed the hoods. I guess now that it is happening to "normal" folks it's a big problem. I got my entire life ruined for less than a gram of weed. Once they do that to you "normal" folks think you are a criminal. 1 in 44 of Americans cannot vote. There are as many Americans with criminal records as college degrees. It's not just one corrupt police force. This is spread far and wide.

I heard 18US241 mentioned but no mention of 18US242. This is a criminal charge specifically for law enforcement or anyone acting under the color of law. The title is deprivation of rights under the color of law. We have laws on the books to address issues like these. Why are they not being used? Even with video evidence, the law is not being applied as it should. If criminal cops, district attorneys, and judges knew there was a consequence for their behavior these situations would not be so prevalent and wide spread. The reason they do it is because they have the belief that they will not be held accountable. And sadly despite the laws that exist to do just that, they won't. They know they won't. We just seen a town hall meeting of people who were able to show up and tell their story. How many people are incarcerated right now, that couldn't pay, couldn't defend themselves and are now sitting in a prison with a record for life? Every case that has gone through this town and in front of that judge needs to be reexamined.

There needs to be a minimum sentence for even the lowest level of police misconduct: 25 years in actual prison, not segregated.
And the lawsuit settlements need to start coming out of police retirement funds and salaries.

Justice, to me, is looking into all of the cases during the period and reset the events to those affected. Repayment back to the People, and heavy research into what, and why it happened. Only then, would the People develop a modicum of trust. Other townships need to research this since this is not an isolated story, but one that is growing within the country.
